ABOUT- Blue Pine Haven (BPH) is a secluded cottage, offering adult guests a unique retreat to unwind. The 3-acre property sits at 9k ft and although tucked away in the woods, its minutes from town. Breathtaking mountain views are steps away for memorable sunrise and sunset experiences. Visit with deer, relax in the massage chair, meditate, stargaze, and simply unwind. Hiking, hot springs, shopping, sightseeing & more for day trips.

IMPORTANT- Four (4) adults max and no pets due to anaphylaxis allergy medical condition.

INTERIOR - The uniquely crafted cottage provides 1,225 square feet of comfort in an earthy-rustic interior setting for adult guests. The open floor plan bathes the cottage in natural light that showcases blue pine woodwork craftsmanship, reclaimed wood cabinetry, soaring pine ceilings, and eclectic mix of boho and zen inspired decor. The cozy space offers guests two bedrooms, one bath with a river rock shower floor, a dining table, a coffee/breakfast bar looking out into the woods, a large kitchen island, and a third bedroom that serves as the tranquility room for meditation and relaxation.

OUTSIDE - Enjoy the sofa that wraps around a fire pit, BBQ on the gas grill, take a nap in the hammock, enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace in the gazebo, chill in multiple seating areas to read and watch deer and birds, delight in the whimsical wood-carved animals and metal sculptures that join you on the property, play a round of corn hole, or walk the 3-mile loop trail fronting BPH to take in the stunning views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountain range. *outdoor fireplace and fire pit available year-round, with exceptions to any enforced county fire bans.

MEDICAL DISCLAIMER: Anaphylaxis allergy and unable to host pets. There are no issue if you have pets at home.

Due to our altitude, the split air duct has a hum. While this is a minor sound, it can impact those with a high level of audiable sensory sensitivity. For stays in warmer months (May - Sept) the split air system can be switched off for no impact. The split air must stay on in colder months since this is the cottage's primary heating source

--------
MOUNTAIN LIVING - Staying at BPH means experiencing mountain living and sharing the property with bears and mountain lions. Practicing wildlife safety is of the upmost importance. The hosts will help guests with rules and tips for avoiding or dealing with potential encounters and have active exterior trail cams around the property that can alert to dangerous wildlife presence that will be communicated to guests. Winter months can bring measurable snow and frigid temperatures. As such, good tires, AWD or 4WD vehicles, and appropriate winter attire is a must. Guests will also be in a high altitude location and are encouraged to drink lots of water to avoid or lessen any potential altitude sickness symptoms. Speaking of altitude, there are little quirks to deal with. Aerosol sprays can sometimes have slow streams or clog, chip bags can expand and pop, lighters can stop working, and baking instructions should be adjusted to altitude cooking since dough rises faster and the baking process takes longer. Due to the lower air pressure, the cottage’s split air system may produce a low hum and batteries and electrical appliances may have reduced performance. BPH has a gas stove, oven, and dryer to combat altitude performance issues with electrical appliances. Hosts can assist guests with tips on altitude living.

OUR MOTTO - BPH is for adults only and ideal for a romantic getaway or relaxation with a close friend. The cottage is intended for guests to experience our motto- disconnect to reconnect. We cannot stress enough the seclusion BPH offers -guests are tucked away in the peaceful alpine setting, isolated from the world. You can’t even see the cottage from the road. This seclusion experience is truly a break from the everyday hectic lifestyle. Take the time to enjoy nature and the quiet- disconnect from devices and relax in secluded comfort in and outside the cottage. Visit for more: www.bluepinehaven.com

ENTERTAINMENT - There are books, board games, cards, corn hole, a 3-mile loop trail to walk, hiking, stargazing, and wildlife viewing. For modern amenities when you crave to “connect”, there is WiFi, a 50” flatscreen TV, dish network, streaming services (Netflix, Hulu), DVD collection, movie thumb drive, and Bluetooth stereos (indoor and outdoor) to play music straight from your device. Guests may bring a telescope for stargazing and paddle boards/boats for enjoyment on nearby Lake DeWesse, Lake Isabel, and Lake Pueblo. Be sure to pick up a fishing license and check each lake for rules and restrictions. There are a number of water rental options available on the way to BPH- Inquire with the Host.

UNIQUE AMENITIES - The cottage has a bidet seat in the bathroom that allows users to set seat and water temperature, water pressure, and has a dryer function. The tranquility room is equipped with a massage chair, northern lights/celestial sky projector, oil diffuser, and meditation stools for relaxation after a long day of sightseeing and adventures in nature. We are located in a no hunting area and in a Dark Sky community. The friendly deer will delight and the night sky will take your breath away. Visit for more: www.darkskiescolorado.org.

PETS- Host is an asthmatic that has life threatening anaphylaxis and is unable to host animals. Animal hair, dander, feathers, saliva, and urine poses a life threatening condition well after an animal departs the premise since they can exist in the interior fabrics, bathroom and kitchen towels, sauna robes, bedding, pillows, carpet, drapes, and furniture. While the entire home is yours during your stay, this is a residence that the hosts return to after guest departure that will cause a severe health risk and threat. Although the host is equipped with an epipen, this is a rural area with limited emergency services that would be necessary to treat anaphylaxis. This life-threatening health condition is on record. Beyond this medical condition, there are safety hazards for pets with the stairs and fireplace.
.
LICENSE- We are approved to legally operate the Blue Pine Haven STR in Custer County. We hold an active STR License #2021-8 and comply with all rules required by the permitting office.

SAFETY- BPH is equipped with a Generac generator, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors/alarms, cell phone booster, perimeter security cameras, first aid kit, and a fire escape ladder.

DRIVING CONDITIONS - In winter, a 4WD or AWD vehicle are a must to navigate the mountain terrain for guest safety. Colorado also enforces traction laws: See www.codot.gov/travel/winter-driving/tractionlaw

Renee is such an amazing host. She stayed in contact with us and even closer to our arrival. Gave us many recommendations on things to do around the area. She was very quick to answer any questions we had. The cabin was very warm and welcoming. We loved that we were able to relax indoors and outdoors. We didn't get around to relaxing by the outdoor fireplace at night because the time change had us very tired at night. We plan to visit again because the area is so quiet and great for stargazing. The moon kind of was in the way, but at 5am in the morning you can see so many stars. Thank you so much Renee for sharing your home with us. We will be back!Missy and Chris

I stay at a lot of VRBO homes and this was among the best. Clean (spotless), cozy, excellent private location, close to the Sangre de Cristo trails. The host is invested in making sure you have a great stay and feel welcomed as a special guest, which is not always the case. A relaxing, perfect home base for travels in the area. I would stay again without hesitation.

My wife and I had a great stay. The attention to detail and care put into the property is obvious. Location is just far enough outside of town to feel secluded but not so far as to be a laborious drive. We are looking forward to a return visit.

From the initial booking until check out, the host, Renee, was so very accommodating and communicative! The service was personalized and warm, yet our privacy was maintained throughout, making the stay truly relaxing and unique. The cottage is spacious and spares no amenities, feeling more like a private resort than a rustic cabin, yet the cozy, down to earth, natural atmosphere we were craving was still present in spades. Warm accent lighting bathes the open concept kitchen/great room at night while radiant sunlight, and a few local deer, peek through the windows during the day. Regretfully, we only had time to experience a few of the ultra comfy areas around the property to sit and enjoy the breathtaking pines, cool mountain air, and beautiful birdsong that accompanied the relaxing wind chimes on the porch. Next time!Inside we cooked delicious meals in the modern and well stocked kitchen, felt pampered by the spa-like bathroom and massage chair/relaxation room and slept soundly in the two luxuriously made up beds. The secluded property is located at the end of a quant tree lined road, neighbors being far enough away for privacy but close enough that one does not feel anxiously off the grid. It was quite nice to be a short drive from town for shopping and dining. We are looking forward to staying at Blue Pine Haven again!!!

If you're looking to get away from it all and have a first-class experience with your loved one(s), this property and host cannot be beat. The photos do not do the cabin justice, it is SO MUCH NICER! Our host not only helped my wife & I celebrate our 40th anniversary with an impeccable property, but also provided very thoughtful gifts. Stargazing was amazing, giving credence to the location's Dark Sky designation; we have never seen so many stars (and meteors!) in our life! We will definitely be back!

This wooded property in the Wet Mountains was everything it was advertised to be. We appreciated the comforts of the cabin which was beautifully equipped with all the amenities we needed. The kitchen had full-sized appliances, and the shower was spacious and wonderful. We appreciated the quiet and the convenience of being minutes from Westcliffe and our favorite cycling roads in the Wet Mountain Valley. This was a great place to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary, and, knowing that, our hosts had left special touches and snacks.

Blue Pine Haven is one of the most peaceful places one can imagine. It is set in a beautiful area just a short drive from Westcliffe. It met every one of our hopes and we had a wonderful stay. I 100% recommend it and you will find Renee to be gracious, welcoming, and kind. Enjoy Westcliffe!

Blue Pine Haven is a lovely and restful getaway nestled in the hills and trees above Westcliffe, CO. Renee is an exceptional host and we enjoyed our time there. The cabin is well situated, clean, and comfortable. We sat out in the covered gazebo in the warm afternoons and took advantage of sunlight on the patio. The cabin is well equipped as noted and we gladly recommend it highly!
