We enjoyed our stay in Nicolau's cottage, for two people it suited us, for six you might need more cutlery, cups and a frying pan in the kitchen and the one bathroom being through the main floor bunk room and the double bedroom might not suit, but we were comfortable. we loved the property, fruit trees of every sort, grape vines. We ate all meals outside on the patio and in the heat the small pool was great to cool down, the views from there are spectacular.

The yard is lovely, but the house is not. It is small, maybe 50 square meters, dark, and it smells of mold. It is stuffed to the gills with knick-knacks, especially the kitchen; we moved two dozen items to make space to cook. There is no frying pan, and we could not get the coffee maker to work - and we have dealt with a LOT of different coffee makers. The owner didn't believe it was broken, and we didn't pursue it, made cowboy coffee instead. The house accommodates 6 only in theory, there are 4 seats at the dining table. The third bedroom is in the dank and moldy basement, fortunately we didn't need that. The mattress in the double bed is old and saggy. Because of the way the house is situated, the view over the Douro can be enjoyed only from one place, outside the bathroom. Outdoor seating is OK, just drag out the wooden dining room chairs. Nice fireplace with plenty of wood. A train comes by about 20 meters from the patio, some 10 times a day. The swimming pool, which does have a good view of the Douro, is a bit of climb away, so we didn't use it; there are no chairs there, just a lawn and the pool. The house would be OK at 30-35 euros. We paid almost twice that, and the place is not worth it.

Hi, it was a nice place to stay. Nice house, a complete house to live in. The little pool was placed on the right spot, with very good views over the river. Sorry Nicolau, we went a day earlyer, but we couldn't live with the electric power failure in the house. Kitchen(cooking and fridge), TV and Internet didn't work during that failure. Before, it worked very good. I was a bit concerned about some electrical connections in the house and garden. Watch out with children... Overal, a nice place to stay.
