Rooster Cottage sits on an acre of land at the water's edge with a dock and mooring. The area is a quiet residential area within an easy bike ride to the town of Southwest Harbor (a little over 1/2 mile).
There is a Marina not far down Shore Road (Manset Yacht Service) where there are nice boats for rent (I have never rented from them, but I've never heard any complaints). Mt. Desert Island offers virtually everything for land and sea. There is nowhere like it.

Stayed May 9, 2026Beautiful home in a quiet and serene setting. Rooster Cottage was perfect for our week in Maine. A very comfortable and spotless home. The large back porch was a perfect place to sit, relax and watch the boats in the harbor. Close to Acadia for hiking and Bar Harbor. The Host was quick to respond with questions. Highly recommend.

Stayed Aug 9, 2025Fantastic house with gorgeous views. This was a perfect place for our family vacation away from the Bar Harbor crowds but close enough to all Acadia has to offer. The kitchen had everything we needed. Best part was watching the sunrise over the harbor from the porch.

Stayed Jun 28, 2025Just returned from a fabulous vacation on Mt Desert Island. Rooster Cottage was just as described and provided us an excellent place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Southwest Harbor. Acadia National Park is a short drive from Rooster Cottage and is a “can’t miss” place to visit. You will not be disappointed in your stay at Rooster Cottage in Southwest Harbor, Maine!

Stayed Oct 12, 2024This is our second visit to Rooster Cottage. The house is spacious and beautiful, with a cook’s kitchen, comfy beds and beautiful views across Southwest Harbor from the living room and upstairs bedrooms. Located away from the crowds of Bar Harbor, Rooster Cottage in the cute little village of Manset is near several sections of Acadia National Park on the the western half of Mt Desert Island and only half an hour from the stunning Park Loop Road. You can’t go wrong with this property.

Stayed Aug 31, 2024This house was even better than the photos indicated. It has beautiful common spaces downstairs, and we appreciated the two en-suite king bedrooms upstairs. (Our group included two adult couples.) We loved sitting on the deck and watching the boats come and go in the harbor!
