The property was beautiful. The only thing to be mindful about is that there are limited resources within 45 minutes. It's best to grab what you need for your stay before you head to the cottage.
Stayed 3 nights in this tranquil little hideaway in the jungle. Hosts were very timely and responsive to any of our requests. One thing I would mention is that the photo of the cottage was taken from the back yard, so what you see when you get there does not look like the picture (you'll see a Ferny Hollow sign once you pull in). Close access to the park & had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. Thank you, Aubrey.
Place as described, lush rainforest around property, very close to national park. Easy check-in/out. Everything was functional. Had one concern which the host went out of their way to address.
This private cottage is absolutely charming! It was a perfect 2-night stay for us. It was extremely clean and had everything we could possibly need. We appreciated the heated blanket on the bed, the towel warmer in the bathroom, and the fireplace as the nights can be quite chilly. It was really close to Volcanoes National Park which made early morning hiking a breeze. At night, we drove into the park for star gazing which was breathtaking! We were lucky to have such clear nights that we could see the Milky Way! It was even better than the expensive tour we did last time up on Mauna Kea.What an unforgettable stay! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with us!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s near the Hawaii Volcanoes national park, and is in a lush and quiet neighborhood.
This is a cool place in Volcano. The listing says Mountain View, but it is actually in Volcano. We almost didn't book it because nobody stays in Mountain View. Needless to say, we were happy with what we found. It is adorable, small, and cozy. When the volcano was erupting it was great. We also spent time hiking in the park. A good time was had by us both.
Cosy cottage nestled in a lush rainforest with towering tree ferns, wild birds, frogs, and flowers. Absolutely relaxing and reconnection to earth/life. Sunshine and general rain keeps this place a paradise. Only 2 miles from the Volcano National Park. Our new vacation destination while visiting the Big Island of Hawaii.
It was perfect for what we needed
This beautifully located Cozy Cottage was an absolute dream!! So much charm and ecologically friendly. A must stay for those couples who want to get away from realities of a busy life.
I can't describe how lovely this place is.... inside and out! Comfortable and cozy and literally tucked into a Ferny Hollow.
We absolutely loved our stay. The cottage is perfectly appointed and was the perfect escape. Would definitely stay here again.
This is probably the loveliest, most charming rental we have ever stayed in! Not only is it well-stocked it is very tastefully decorated, and in a beautiful rain forest very close to Volcano National Park. Finding it is a little challenging, and I’d recommend doing it in the daylight for sure. We had no need to contact owners but from guest book read that they are very responsive. Highly recommend!
Quiet, peaceful and lovely surroundings! Thanks so much / Mahalo!
Great Place, well maintained, very interesting decor including the use of salvaged refinished material. Looka great.
We were a little nervous driving down the unpaved road to the location but once we found the cabin it was a perfect place to hang out and visit the park. The cabin is so peaceful. We loved sitting on the back porch and looking out at the beautiful plants and trees. The bed was really comfortable and warm. The park is really only 5 minutes away. Our host was very welcoming.
5 stars inside. Everything the very best hotels offer. Short hop to the volcano at night. Great directions by the park rangers and Sshley the iwner
What a delight it was to stay in this wonderful cottage close to Volcanoes National Park. It is attractive and very clean with attention paid to detail. It gets chilly in the morning but we enjoyed the warmth of the electric heater that looks like a small gas stove. It was so nice to return to our cool, peaceful little Shangri-La after hiking or exploring in the sun and wind.
Ferny was a cozy place to escape the rainy weather the weekend we stayed. We love the off-the beaten path areas.
I do not even know where to begin to describe how much my husband and I enjoyed staying at Ferny Hollow Cottage. Aubrey and Jeff are wonderful hosts and we lacked nothing. She even switched on the electric blanket for us before our arrival on a chilly evening! We loved the quaint, romantic cottage which is totally enchanting and we enjoyed strolling through the magical garden pathways. We were also a very short drive away from the national park to get our fill of volcano adventures. We would love to become repeat guests!
When you walk through the rainforest foliage to the door you’re immersed in a secret garden. It’s a wonderful scene. The cottage is well thought out, very clean, and neat as a pin. It has unique historic touches and a vintage feel with glass knobs and a door that is from the original Volcano House. The independently controlled heated blankets are the bomb. Very dark and quiet at night, and so close to the park (8 min) that you can come back to the cabin for lunch and return in less or about the same time it would take to eat at the park.
