We had a wonderful time staying in the cottage over New Years week. It was a very cold week but the cottage was super warm and cozy. We enjoyed exploring around the trails and had a picnic lunch near the waterfall which was so peaceful and beautiful. The cottage is fully stocked. It was nice to have a washer/dryer to use. The location was near Highlands, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Highlands Outpost which was a lot of fun, snow tubing for the 1st time. Thank you Carman for being a wondeful host!

This was exactly what we were looking for in a mountain getaway, peace and quiet. Very secluded with no noise or traffic going by. You can hike on private trails or just sit by the river. Hosts were very accommodating with great communication before and during our stay. You can access just about any kind of restaurant you could want within 15 minutes. We will definitely be back. Loved it

Absolutely adorable little cottage in a very convenient area to lots of hiking and other adventures. Highland NC just a short drive away. On site trails and little river. Description of property was spot on. We hiked, enjoyed watching the birds, grilled dinners and most importantly relaxed on porch listening to nature and the river. Quiet and peaceful. Hosts were super friendly and knowledgeable about the area and even had a delicious homemade sweet bread on arrival. Would highly recommend! Thank you Carman!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this delightful cottage! It was a welcome haven from the busy world, and especially restful because it was exactly as described and actually even better. It was the tiny things like the Phillips head screwdriver and the flathead screwdriver in the kitchen that just spoke to how well Carman took care of her guests. We’re delighted to have this retreat on our radar now.

The cottage is spotless, cozy, and comfortable. The special touches of fresh flowers and delicious pound cake were over the top! Mountain views from the front porch rockers, watching birds and hummingbirds frequenting the feeders, and the sound of the river below are awesome! Jim and Carman are gracious hosts and just good folks, who bend over backwards to take care of their guest. There are trails and waterfalls right on the property, and plenty of things to do in the area. We look forward to coming back again! Thank you Jim and Carman!

This is a beautiful little cottage, perfect if you are looking to get the true feelings of mountain life. It is secluded, you will not see or hear any neighbors or other noise but the birds singing, yet it is close to the main road. We were given directions over the phone by the owners and arrived safely to the cottage. Upon arrival there were fresh cut flowers, a dessert and since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, a bottle of chilled sparkling wine. Everything was very clean and neat, extra attention to detail was shown everywhere. Mountain views from the living room and bedroom, a spectacle of birds feeding and singing in the porch while having our morning coffee on the rocking chairs. Hike right there to the woods and creek behind the cottage. Quiet, beautiful sunset views right from the porch. Internet connection was very good Anyway, it was lovely!! Perfect if you are looking for secluded, quiet, vintage, enjoy nature, hikes, birds watching and swings.

Gym and Carman gave really great tips about things to do around the town and directions to their favorite waterfall really a must see it was so much fun to discover all the waterfalls and little walks around the house And sitting on the porch watching the enormous variety of birds that come to the birdfeeder. We explored several parks in Georgia and kayaked multiple times on lake Emory in Franklin. We also visited lake Glenville and Cherokee. This is a good quiet pace for a couple to relax and also explore the area. The owners are very nice and knowledgeable of the area.

The porch has a beautiful view of the mountains and bird feeders where the birds come right up near you to feed (including hummingbirds!). We loved this beautiful, clean cabin and the surrounding mountain amenities - it’s even better than described, with uniquely delightful surprises like so many birds! fresh flowers throughout! It’s remote enough to feel secluded and private, yet near enough to neighbors and local towns to retain a sense of community and ease of accesa. Carman and Jim are generous and thoughtful hosts, providing special touches even for our kid and dog. We will definitely be back, and the only reason we’d discourage others from booking is to have more opportunity to visit ourselves. 😉 Finally, the ambience of the property and the hosts’ warm welcome include the conveniences of modern technology and amenities while retaining the elusive community spirit and appreciation for place and travel that characterized earlier travel clubs. One of our best VRBO stays yet.
