Stayed Feb 9, 2019This property is perfect. George, the owner is GREAT. He was very attentive to our needs, he would stop by to ensure that everything was ok and ask if we needed anything. The property is clean and very comfortable, it is the most well stocked property that we have ever stayed at. Anything that you would ever need in the kitchen was there, and in good working order. We were two couples vacationing together and the accommodations suited us just perfectly. There were plenty of towels both bath and beach. Not only did George provide beach chairs on the beach but also provided 4 beach chairs for us to take with us while visiting other beaches on the island. There are outdoor showers for rinsing off the sand, and the two screened in portages were great for eating and just sitting and relaxing. George was a great help with suggestions for dining, and what interesting places to visit. We highly recommend this property.

Stayed Dec 29, 2018We stayed at George and Cindy's house which worked out great for our family (2 parents and 3 adult children). They have a lovely beach with its own fish-filled reef! Long Island has many, many beautiful, secluded beaches - we couldn't get to them all. It's a great place for a quiet and relaxing getaway - we highly recommend it! A little advice - leave yourself plenty of time in Nassau between flights...

Stayed May 4, 2018With 4 bedrooms and a well appointed kitchen and 2 well screened porches this is island life at its most relaxed and comfortable. Maybe 1 minute from a great beach that stretches miles in both directions and doubtful if you will see another person despite there being quite a few properties nearby. George the owner could not have been more accommodating and friendly the entire week. We used his fish cleaning station and had the use of 3 good kayaks which were fun to use on the shallow waters in front of the house. I am so glad we had his excellent laundry service as the first week was unseasonally wet and clothes were difficult to dry. Views towards 2 headlands in either direction were my vision of paradise. Accessed by a good road from the queens highway you are not far from shops and eateries and places to drink. George will fill you in on all the best places. I cannot recommend George's rentals to you more highly and when I return I will not hesitate to book again.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969As I sit at my computer in cold, snowy Wisconsin, I dream about being back in the chairs on the beach at Whymsical Wishes. What a wonderful vacation it was! George, the owner, provided us with a lot of good information prior to our stay, answering any and all questions we had about the property and the island. The house was easy to find and was the perfect accomodation for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 sons: 20, 18, and 15). The 4 bedrooms were spacious, each with an a/c unit and very comfortable queen-sized bed. There were 2 bathrooms with fluffy towels, as well as soap. The kitchen had pretty much everything we needed for cooking meals and the living room had a nice tv and comfortable furniture. There was wi-fi, although a little spotty. That was actually a big plus for the vacation - I didn't check my phone every 10 minutes! The beach was within a 30 second walk (maybe a minute, since I walked a little slower so my coffee didn't spill). It is on the Caribbean side of the island, so very gentle waves and turquoise waters that are so clear. There is a small coral reef within walking distance that is perfect for beginner snorkellers. There are rocks as you go into the water, so I would recommend shower shoes, but otherwise the sand was white and soft. George had chairs and a small table set up for us. He checked in on us when he saw us, to make sure we were enjoying our stay and didn't need anything. He loaned us snorkel gear and his kayaks, so we could paddle around in the ocean. He also loaned us a book detailing all the beaches around the island, which was invaluable. I never felt like George was hovering, but more like a good friend who you'd see and chat with in the neighborhood. We were there over Christmas and were honored and delighted to be invited to Christmas dinner with his other friends and relatives! This is a perfect place for anyone who doesn't like all the tourists you would find at a resort. There is a grocery store about 10 min down the road that has virtually everything you need, including some organic and gluten-free items! There are some small take out restaurants, as well as fancier restaurants in the larger settlements. At 80 miles long, with one main road, it is easy to explore Long Island and check out new areas. Be sure to check out Dean's Blue Hole, Turtle Cove and Gordon's beach on the very south end of the island. I highly recommend this property and Long Island, Bahamas! I want to go back now!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969My husband and I celebrated our 25 yr anniversary and rented the 4 bedroom cottage because the 2 bedroom was rented. We loved the 4 bedroom unit especially having separate bathrooms! The porches were great in the morning and evening; just kick back and relax while looking out into the ocean. We had Wifi and were able to FaceTime our daughter. There's no TV service so we brought a couple of movies to watch at night. The kitchen is fully furnished. The beach was fabulous and we walked about a mile in one direction. My husband loves to fish so we walked the beach and saw bone fish and hooked some sharks. George was an incredible host! We met as strangers but left as friends. The people of Long Island are exceptionally pleasant. Be prepared to wave at everyone! Deans Blue hole is a must see. We spent a lot of time walking the many flats looking for bone fish. We did catch some but not as many as expected. However, we caught juvenile tarpon and permit. Hurricane Joaquin did a number on the Eco system, businesses and homes. There were still houses with tarps on the roofs covering up the damage. The island is very peaceful. We spent days on various beaches including I front of the cottage and saw no one! We rented a very old car (Nissan Sunny) from Annie's Car rental. We got a flat one day and had steel cords showing another day. The hurricane caused havoc on the main road and side roads. Next time we will rent a 4 wheeled vehicle. We had to bypass some side dirt roads because we had a car. Keep in mind we love to explore. If you aren't exploring side roads then a car is fine. We flew into Exuma and used Stella Maris Air. Joel the pilot and Lakera in reservations were so accommodating. Definitely bring bug spray. No see um's can be bad after dark or no wind. But you can have bugs anywhere. Get all your groceries at Hill Side in Salt Pond. Don't expect to find gift stores because there aren't any. Local women sell homemade jams and woven baskets, hats, placemats, etc. Max's fresh conch salad is a must have! We visited his tiki hut many times! The flying fish marina has great food too. We had the most relaxing vacation ever! The guest cottage and location was perfect. It was so quite and the beach was beautiful. You can see the sunset from either porch or just sit on the beach. George offered us coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc and shopping prior to arrival. We will definitely rent from George and Cindy again! Great house, location and host!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed in both cottages for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Years with our 4 kids and grandparents - just perfect! Since we rented both cottages, every generation could live on its own path: seniors had their early morning coffee and swim, mid-age could do some work in the morning - thanks to Wifi - and the Youngsters could sleep in and kite surf right in front of the property. Both cottages are clean, colourful, friendly and well equipped! You get a clean up every week and as much towels as you want. Everything is there when you arrive and George is great with organizing whatever it is before you come. The South part of Long Island had a lot of damages through the hurricane end of September 2015 and you still could see destroyed houses. The area of Whymsical Wish looks much better and although the water raised about 5 feet onto the property, George did a great job in cleaning up and restoring the garden. George and Cindy are fantastic hosts!!! They helped us with any issue: broken rental cars (ask George for recommendations !), where to get fresh seafood and how to prepare it the right way, where to go for swimming, shopping, sight-seeing and everything else you can think of! Our highlight was their invitation for Christmas dinner and boxing day with their whole family - imagine we were 8 more to feed! These folks are just incredibly welcoming and generous - we had a great time and want to come again for sure!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our family of four had an exceptional experience with George and Cindy and their home on the bay at Wymms. Ordinarily, you would not select a vacation house to rent based on its owners. But in this case, you should. We were first time travelers to Long Island with our two boys, aged 14 and 17. Our family has traveled to many places in different parts of the world and water based trips remain the long time favorites. We cannot say enough good things about our seven days in Long Island, snorkeling, bone fishing, reef fishing and just generally wandering to the wide open expanses of blue water. What made it special was George and Cindy’s house. We stayed in the four bedroom house and it was clean from top to bottom and very functional. Great kitchen and being able to eat every night on the screened porch was very enjoyable for our family. If you are into stars at night, this is the place. We woke up every morning to a great sky and a higher degree of quiet that you cannot get at home. A few steps away from the house is a relatively secluded beach that wraps around a gorgeous bay. You can walk the whole bay tip to tip and watch the waves come in. Several nights we ate fresh fish and lobster from a local market and two nights we ate fish that we caught with our boys. Water to table is a quick trip in Long Island.During our stay, we rented a car with the great help of George. It allowed us to explore road after road, countless beaches and some great roadside restaurants where the locals eat. George provided us with lists of snorkeling spots, restaurants and fishing locations. We packed the car with fishing gear, snorkeling equipment and just set out for the day. Unlike a lot of houses that we have rented, George enjoys getting to know the people that visit and will do whatever he can to ensure that you are able find the things that make you happy on Long Island. On two different occasions, I mentioned to him that our boys wanted to fish the reef and do some exploring. A few hours later George called and had found a great day trip for us to do some fishing off shore and snorkeling. If he offers, take George up on getting your first night’s provisions. When we arrived, we had dinner and a fresh cold beer waiting for us in the fridge. There is plenty of good fishing all around Long Island. It is a mystifying place to visit. We traveled the whole island, but did not see any places we would trade for this one. Jim and Elizabeth

Stayed Dec 31, 1969George. He’s all that the reviews say he is. He’s friendly, welcoming and helpful. He wants you to enjoy your time on Long Island and in his place, so he’ll offer to do anything to make your visit easy. One day, he asked how our day was and we told him our daughter had gotten too much sun. In minutes, he was over with aloe. Another day, he popped over with an antihistamine for me. Ask him about where to go, and he’ll send you to the best places. (Ask him about the beach behind Hillside) The property: This was exactly what we were looking for. The house is about 1/3 of the way down the island. It was perfect for day trips. Rent a car, it is a must to get around, and even to get food. We loved the quiet, spacious house. It was perfect for our 3 kids and us. We had room to spread out and relax. If you are looking for super fancy, this probably isn’t what you are looking for. It had 4 good size bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen. It had a dishwasher, a blender, microwave, etc. We loved the screened in porch. We ate out there every morning and evening listening to the sound of the waves and checking out the awesome stars and planets! (No light pollution, so we could see Mars and Venus. So cool!) The beds were comfortable. Our towels (both beach and bath) were changed during our trip. The property is on a quiet strip of beach. We walked along the beach several times, and there was no one there. We saw crabs and found great shells. My husband went snorkelling out on the small reef by the house and said it was a good beginner place to go. When we wanted to go swimming or play on the beach, we tried the many other beaches on the island (Cape Santa Maria, the Hug, Dean’s Blue Hole, and Hillside were our fav places to go) We were really glad to have a kitchen during our trip. Restaurants are not always available or close by (island charm) so we were really glad to be able to cook. Ask George about Hillside store. It was his suggestion, and the best we found on the island. No laundry in the house, but George will wash and dry for $10 Would definitely recommend it.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I would recommend this property to anyone. It was a stones throw from the beach and the orientation of the beachhouse allowed for a refreshing breeze to circulate through the house. Probably the best feature were the property owners George and Cindy who were an absolute pleasure. Visit beautiful Long Island and definitly stay with George and Cindy!
