Owl Lodge, a converted garage & game larder at the entrance to a 19th century shooting lodge on the edge of a grouse moor in North Wales, was converted into a healing room & artists studio 15 years ago and is now a holiday lodge.
Close to Llandegla Mountain Bike Centre and the famous Horse Shoe Pass it is the perfect retreat from everyday routine to repair one's soul. Listen to the owls at night & watch the many different little birds in the trees, as you take in the views across the valley from the hot tub.
The Double bedroom has a comfy mattress and Egyptian cotton bed linen. The whole property is on one level. There is a sofa bed in the sitting room that pulls out into a king size bed. The Egyptian cotton bedding for the sofa bed is in a cubby under the right hand side of the sofa.
A piece of Paradise....
Your hosts, Margaret and Jenny have lived in their Victorian hunting lodge, Faraway for over 40 years and in 2016 they made the decision to share their piece of paradise with you by opening Owl Lodge to paying guests. This was received with such enthusiasm that they then decided to convert an old kennel building and hence The Doghouse was opened in 2018 along with the Treehouse and gypsy caravans at Copse Camp and with that Faraway Follies was born.

Sustainable Travel
Reducing the environmental impact of Faraway Follies is important to us. So where ever we can we reduce the amount of plastics we use and recycle as much as we can. We gained our Green Key accreditation in only our 3rd year in business and still look to make improvements to whatever we do.

Health and Wellbeing
We believe that looking after your mind and body are of primary importance. Faraway Follies is fast becoming a centre of holistic wellness with monthly day retreats and bi monthly soundbaths. However the Secret Sauna and Penguin Pool take centre stage in our approach to the health of the mind and body. You don't have to stay at Faraway Follies to enjoy these facilities but of course, if you are staying here they are here for your enjoyment.

The Lodges
There are three places to stay. Owl Lodge can sleep 4 people with a double bedroom and a king sized sofa bed in the living area. The Doghouse is a more romantic space for two people beside a babbling brook. And Copse Camp is the home of our treehouse with two gypsy caravans that can sleep 6 people. Each of the spaces have their own wood fired hottub.

This Part of Wales
We are perfectly situated for all the activities that North Wales has to offer. Whether that is walking in the mountains, canoeing, white water rafting, mountain biking, fishing, exploring historic sites or simply sitting and taking in the stunning views and sun sets. Its all here for you at Faraway Follies.

This was the perfect weekend getaway. Thank you Jenny & Margaret for making our stay so wonderful. Owl Lodge was just right for my friend and I ( both the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable ) It was so cosy, very clean and equipped with everything we needed. The log burner and log fired hot tub were easy to use and just great for the chilly February weather. The location and scenery was stunning and it really felt like a true escape! Thank you.

Beautiful place in a beautiful area. Despite there being other lodges none were overlooked and were cleverly placed so we felt immersed in nature. Tried the sauna and cold water dipping experience and surprisingly really enjoyed it. Jenny and Mags were lovely and welcoming as were Daisy the dog, the cats, sheep, chickens and goats. The welcome card and gifts were a lovely touch. Thoroughly enjoyable stay and can't wait to come back and relax in the hot tub again!

We chose here for the peaceful location and for our elderly dogs to stay with us. Everything we needed was provided and more. The resident dog, Daisy and lamb, Delilah were just delightful too. We drove into Llangollen for a couple of hours each day but apart from that we just went for dog walks or chilled in the hot tub. You can also book the sauna and cold pool if you wanted. The little touches, doggie goodies, names on the front door and a card from Jenni and Margaret made it extra special

We had a fantastic stay and the accomodation was perfect to suit our varying needs of guests. The treehouse was incredible, the private hot tubs came in good use and everything we needed was here. The treehouse was a great base for our group and we had nightly gatherings here. Such a magical weekend it was. Would highly recommend and the hosts, Jenny, Margaret and Daisy were very welcoming.

I liked everything, the hostess, the facilities and the style and quality of the place. The bedding is superb also, I must get some of the pillows they have!

Luxurious lodge in a peaceful setting. Loved the decor and the countryside views, and the accommodation provided everything we needed for a relaxing three-night stay. Would happily return to explore some more of the area.

The small house is beautifully appointed--great linens, comfortable furniture, romantic outdoor hot tub, pretty surfaces. Great wood stove with lots of wood. We were very comfortable and happy there, and appreciated our host, Jennie, who was very helpful in suggesting walks and sights to see. We have one small complaint, which is that the kitchen is minimally equipped--not the place for even a semi-serious cook. No frying pan or mixing bowls or decent salad bowl. Great toaster, though.
