The Dog House is the converted kennel building of a 19th century shooting lodge close to Llandegla Mountain Bike Centre and the famous Horse Shoe Pass it is the perfect retreat from everyday routine to repair one's soul.
With the windows open or sitting in the hot tub you can hear the relaxing noises of the stream and birds in the trees that surround the property.
It has a double bed with Egyptian Cotton sheets with views of the valley and the stream. There is a wood burning stove to keep you warm and cosy. The kitchen has a gas hob, microwave, mini oven, toaster and kettle. The veranda with comfy wicker chairs overlooking the stream is perfect for watching the sun set.
A piece of Paradise....
Your hosts, Margaret and Jenny have lived in their Victorian hunting lodge, Faraway for over 40 years and in 2016 they made the decision to share their piece of paradise with you by opening Owl Lodge to paying guests. This was received with such enthusiasm that they then decided to convert an old kennel building and hence The Doghouse was opened in 2018 along with the Treehouse and gypsy caravans at Copse Camp and with that Faraway Follies was born.

Sustainable Travel
Reducing the environmental impact of Faraway Follies is important to us. So where ever we can we reduce the amount of plastics we use and recycle as much as we can. We gained our Green Key accreditation in only our 3rd year in business and still look to make improvements to whatever we do.

Health and Wellbeing
We believe that looking after your mind and body are of primary importance. Faraway Follies is fast becoming a centre of holistic wellness with monthly day retreats and bi monthly soundbaths. However the Secret Sauna and Penguin Pool take centre stage in our approach to the health of the mind and body. You don't have to stay at Faraway Follies to enjoy these facilities but of course, if you are staying here they are here for your enjoyment.

The Lodges
There are three places to stay. Owl Lodge can sleep 4 people with a double bedroom and a king sized sofa bed in the living area. The Doghouse is a more romantic space for two people beside a babbling brook. And Copse Camp is the home of our treehouse with two gypsy caravans that can sleep 6 people. Each of the spaces have their own wood fired hottub.

This Part of Wales
We are perfectly situated for all the activities that North Wales has to offer. Whether that is walking in the mountains, canoeing, white water rafting, mountain biking, fishing, exploring historic sites or simply sitting and taking in the stunning views and sun sets. Its all here for you at Faraway Follies.

The dog house was very relaxing. Had everything you needed fir are stay milk coffee sugar there on arrival log burner was lovely cold when we got there it soon warmed up the room . The hot tub took awhile to warm up but it was great when it did. We’ll definitely go back nice little touches Marmalade shortbread and two bottles of cider. Lovely.

Relaxing on the veranda with a glass of wine listening to the birds and bubbling brook or a dip in the hot tub. Snuggling in front of the log fire with a good book. There is plenty to do in the area whether strolling around Llangollen, local walks or visiting the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

The peace and tranquility - the sound of the babbling brook at night - the outdoor hot tub was a treat - cosying up by the fire. An absolute treat to escape the hurly burly of the city and really switch off.

Me, my husband and our two hounds came to stay at Faraway Follies for 3 nights. The dog house was well equipped, clean and comfortable. We loved the location of the dog house, surrounded by hills and plenty of wildlife. We visited a few forests not far from the dog house, the area is just breath-taking. We would recommend this place to anyone (and already have). We hope to be back again in the Future. Thank you for being such a great host.

Jenny was excellent, very helpful throughout. Accomidation was great, lovely location and amenities within The Doghouse made for an easy stay and much needed rest. The little personal touches, such as name on the welcome board, small figts and trinkets, as well as the cleanliness of the place went a long way. Thank you once again, our stay was great and we had an amazing time. Already recommended to a few folk and looking to come back again soon.
