- NOTE: The property requires 5.5 miles of maintained dirt road to access
This property has amazing river views but is 5.5 miles off the paved road. The dirt road has been graded but has many ruts and waterholes (after it rains). It took about 25-30 minutes to get back to the house or back out to the paved road. If you are in an old vehicle you could probably go a little faster but it still takes a while to reach the property. The house has some updates (stainless appliances) but could have used a thorough cleaning. The kitchen chair pads were stained and needed cleaning or to be replaced. Bathrooms had newer toilets and were clean. The king bed linens were fine and the bed was comfortable. There was a nice screened-in porch with string light but no switch to turn them on. There were two spotlights on the corner of the garage that stayed on 24/7. They were right outside the king bedroom and shined through the blinds making it difficult to sleep. The yard has a wonderful view but the old flower beds had lots of weeds growing up. We went out to sit at the rod iron table set in the yard and one of the chairs was broken and almost laid all the way back. It was further from downtown New Bern than expected. We adjusted our schedule to only come and go once daily to avoid the extended drive in and out. We elected to to leave a day early to avoid the long drive in an out. A little bit of elbow grease and TLC would make this property spectacular.
We had a excellent view and the bed and pillows were wonderful. The road to the house was rough but we brought Susie's and food and just enjoyed the surroundings
