We really enjoyed our three nights stay. So many things to do in Kansas City. We will definitely come back. This neighborhood is super beautiful and historic. Very quiet and cozy apartment.

A rare treat! A restored American craftsman carriage house in a historic neighborhood…wow. House is well stocked, lots of extras that most people don’t offer like EV charging station, safety items (we used the provided lantern during a storm) and little decor touches throughout. Host was well at communicating and there was a binder of all the house’s instructions along with area recommendations. Kitchen was modern and served all our purposes. I’ve bookmarked this listing if we return to KC area.

The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked with all your needs. Definitely felt like home away from home. I would definitely return here when coming back to KC MO!

Great neighborhood and an adorable carriage house above the garage. It’s cozy and comfortable and near many places. If you have 6 adults you're going to be a bit crowded but they provide everything you need for your stay. The owner was always prompt to respond to any questions or concerns.

This is a perfectly equipped stay. Very functional and comfortable located in the historic Hyde Park, Janssen Place #4is wonderfully decorated to boot. We have stayed in many rentals through vacations, family visits, work contracts, etc, and this place is in a different category. Everything we could have needed for our stay was available. We are so very pleased to have stayed here. We actually arrived home after an almost 14 hour drive and felt relaxed, and I credit that to our stay.

The kitchen is right out of a decor magazine and it stocked with anything you could possibly need. The owners of the home and prominent Kansas City historians and so accommodating. Parking is easy and the beds are very comfortable. This property is a profound Kansas City experience in itself.

Everything was absolutely perfect!

This was my second stay at the Carriage House. It is conveniently located, in a beautiful historic neighborhood. It has everything needed for a stay in KC!

House was beautifully designed; parking is tight and owners are living on the property. We had some kids playing in the driveway (not the we were bothered, but I can see that annoying others).

Very nice place, perfect for our group of 3. Kind and accommodating hosts, would recommend if you plan on staying in KC.

We lived this Cozy, clean, cute, and centrally located retreat! There was plenty of room for the 3 of us and appreciate having separate bathrooms. Really lovely historic district and 15 min walk to the free tram to access most every point of interest downtown. If we return we will definitely book again!

This was a wonderful place to stay! Quality furnishings and genuine craftsman period decor. Hosts were available and very accommodating, but not intrusive. It was perfect for two adults. If you have energetic pets or young children, it might be best to ensure hosts can accommodate due to many ceramic and breakable objects in the home below counter level.I'm sure hosts would have delivered sugar for coffee if we had asked as I couldn't find any sugar in the cabinets. There was not enough hot water to fill the bathtub, which was disappointing, and unsure how often the Jacuzzi jets in the tub get cleaned.

Everything was as pictured and described. Communication with the owner was Beautiful historic neighborhood. Already looking forward to coming back.

The arts & crafts decor of this charming space made a great first impression, and the space continued to delight us with its comfort, quiet, and convenient location! We did not prepare meals while there, but noticed the quality appliances, cookware, etc. Communication from the host was thorough and prompt, with immediate responses to a few questions during our stay. We appreciated the ample room for off-street parking very close to the carriage house entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the peaceful and safe neighborhood full of gorgeous, historic homes. We also appreciated learning more about the area and homes from the wonderful book in the carriage house and the printed walking tour brochure.

Beautiful home with impeccable details-clean and comfortable and located on a beautiful historic street. Very close to downtown Kansas City and very friendly owners! We will be back if we are in Kansas City again!

Great place to stay, central to the Plaza, Westport, and downtown. Very cozy and charming. We’ve stayed there 3-4 times and would always stay there again assuming it’s available.

The entire experience was great. The location was perfect and close to free public transportation to the downtown areas. The Carriage House was impeccable and made us feel at home and secure each day. It was a great experience.

The Carriage House is just lovely! It is located in a quiet, yet posh, little neighborhood in KC that is very close to pretty much anything you could want or need. This Vrbo was one of the most well appointed places we have ever stayed at with plenty of linens, easy/convenient parking and a walkable neighborhood. We walked to a local coffee shop and everything else we did was within 5-10 minutes of the location. There is one set of stairs to carry your belongings up. This charming place receives high marks from me. The host was extremely communicative and I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Kansas City.

Absolutely stellar property. The neighborhood itself is beautiful and a treat for fans of history and architecture. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous and very well maintained. It's obvious a lot of love went into the home and its finishes. The neighborhood was very quiet and felt safe, despite being in the city. I enjoyed walking to the local coffee shop in the morning. I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home in a great central location.

Over the years I have rented, thru VRBO/Homeaway, over 20 properties. The Carriage House has been one of my favorites. The character and charm of the place extended into the immediate area and all of Hyde Park. We spent part of a day just driving the Neiborhood's looking at the homes and building architectures.The carriage house has been meticulously updated and furnished to match the early 1900s when it was first built. The hosts, Barbara and Steve were great. Five stars to them for the quick responses to questions and suggestions on local places to eat. You'll find a book on their neighborhood, co-authored by Steve, in the carriage house. It was a great reference on the history of the 19 homes in their subdivision - Janssen Place. This was my first trip to KC and would/will definitely stay here on future trips. Thanks Barbara and Steve!

We enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House, as it was in quiet and beautiful neighborhood. The property was comfortable and welll-equipped and we had everything we could possible need to make our Kansas City trip a success. We loved the historic feel of the place, and also learning more details about historic preservation in the neighborhood. Barbara and Stephen were great hosts, and we appreciate their hospitality. Loved it and would return!

The carriage house is a cozy, delightful little getaway spot that suited our family of four (with a toddler and 8-year-old) just right. The space has clearly been cultivated with care and attention to detail, with everything we could've possibly needed. The neighborhood is quiet and charming, with ample opportunity for walking safely. I will absolutely return when/if the opportunity presents itself!

The VRBO was perfect. Will stay here again.

The property is excellent and it is obvious that the owners invested themselves in curating the house just so with mission style design and collectibles. It was a joy to spend time in this house and the surrounding area is also very beautiful that is rich in history.

This is a beautiful area to stay. There were 4 of us and we walked and felt safe. But the Carriage House itself was dark, dungy, unswept, and grimy. The floors were filthy, there was no water pressure in the kitchen or bathrooms, and only 2 rolls of toilet paper. When we asked for more toilet paper, it was like being interigated on how we were using it. Barbara did finally bring us 2 more rolls. Four sisters in their 60-70's, 4 days, and 2 bathrooms. We didn't think we were overusing. The jetted tub was unusable because the jets were black and moldy. The bedrooms are small, which is fine but the 'master' bed only had about 4 inches on either side to get in. I kept hitting my leg on the bed frame which was larger than the bed. I ended up getting stitches. The floors in the kitchen are very squeaky and they weren't swept in ages. We swept while there to make it feel cleaner. Barbara told us it was because the Carriage house was so old but obviously these were not done correctly. We use VRBO a lot and have never encountered this with older homes. There were few places to sit in the living room, we went out on the balcony to play cards. (which we brought) The lighting, although beautiful, is very dim, making it difficult to see. This was supposed to be a relaxing and inspiring time for sisters. We were asked where we were going every day without purses & walking; it fell invasive. It was not relaxing unless we went elsewhere. Never again will we go here.

This beautiful home was the ideal base for a work week in Kansas City. The location was central, and made for lovely evening evening walks. The carriage house was perfectly clean, tastefully decorated with period touches. I'd love to return!

House was lovely and area was nice. Everything was very clean and we have everything we needed.

Traveled to KC to hang out with my son for Spring Break and watch NCAA basketball tournament. Location and amenities were perfect for my visit. The neighborhood is very similar to the Swiss Avenue neighborhood in my hometown of Dallas. Very close to everywhere we wanted to go. I’ve been to KC many times and will definitely look to stay here again on future visits.

I was in KC for work and spent 4 nights at the carriage house. What a delight! It's a beautifully furnished space full of arts and crafts design and decor. The hosts have also thoughtfully equipped the space with kitchen tools/utensils, an incredible bar if you want to have a happy hour and even towel warming racks! I will definitely stay here again.

We highly recommend staying at the Carriage House We very much enjoyed our extended stay here while work was being done on our home. We arrived after dealing not only with movers, and contractors, but also a snowstorm that caused a delay. It was so welcoming and warm when we walked in that all of the preceding craziness seemed to melt away. Truly, every little detail has been thought of. I only wished we could have gotten out more to experience the neighborhood, it is so beautiful. Perhaps we’ll just have to come back for a staycation.

It was the perfect location to Uber to the Green Lady Lounge, The Phoenix and the Jazz Museum. The Carriage House was private enough that we could play some music without fear of disturbing the owners. Lovely craftsmen carriage house is highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore the crossroads district or downtown.

This cottage was perfect for our KC getaway. It was the perfect size for our 4 person family to have our own space but also be able to be together. We loved the cottage feel and detail the owners put into this space.

An amazing place! Close to everything!

We stayed three nights for our 25th anniversary. It was a beautiful neighborhood that we walked several times while we were there. It was very cozy and comfortable in the carriage house. Very good coffee shop right around the corner.

Perfect place for our weekend stay. Carriage House was just as pictured. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and appliance needs. Quiet area. It is in a historical area of town with lots of huge old homes. It was neat driving around looking at them all. Perfect location too. Just minutes away from Crowne Center and the Plaza.

Just what we needed.

This is our favorite place to stay in KC. It it always quiet while being close to everything. We love the location and look forward to our next (fifth) stay at this carriage house.

It was short stay ,, just be careful with the uneven floor from the kitchen to the living room,, my sister almost broke her neck ,, over all we had a good time ,, will definitely stay here again

Truly an amazing neighborhood and a fun city! Loved the VRBO and the location. Neither couple loved the beds - not super comfortable. That was our only issue - otherwise the stay was perfect!
