The view is unbeatable, the host is nice. He and the cabin are eccentric. The problem was that the cabin required instructions in how to operate the electronics - the a/c, the fireplace, the lights - everything. And he was gracious to want to meet with us and explain it all, but after a 6 hour drive and health issues, we did not want to socialize and only wanted to rest. But it turns out that it was very necessary to get his explanations about it all! I think if we had known beforehand about the situation that it would have went smoother and there would not have been an issue, but the cabin temperature was very hot and we could not operate the thermostat and could not wait for a tutorial on it and had to leave due to health reasons. I think if we had known beforehand about the necessary meeting with the host regarding the cabin operations we would have been prepared for it. Also, although the cabin was pristine and lovely, the beds were very old, small, squeaky, and did not appear comfortable. If we had not had such a long drive we would not have minded so much. We came expecting rest and relaxation and were met with a stressful situation due to our health needs. Could not get a refund despite not being able to stay because we had already went through check-in. Very expensive incredible cabin with an incredible view that we could neither enjoy nor be compensated for. Disappointing. I wish it had turned out differently.

Our 4th time staying at the Canyon Cliff House. The view and roar of the waterfall from the cabin is always mesmerizing. We also crack the bedroom window just a little at night for the best sleep ever. The cabin is well stocked, always very clean and comfortable with waterfall views from almost every room. The two bedrooms are identical and at opposite ends which is perfect for two couples. Screened porch is very comfy with plenty of seating. The host is wonderful and always so gracious! We’ll be back!

If you're looking for a house in Mentone - just choose this one -you'll be glad you did! The covered porch on the back and the deck overlooking the waterfall were perfect and incredibly peaceful. The living and kitchen area seemed bigger than the online pictures could show. Mentone area was very chill and relaxing. Already planning when we can return.

We absolutely loved our stay at Cliff House! The home was spotless, well stocked, and instantly felt like home.We booked it for the view of DeSoto Falls—and WOW, it delivered. The view is truly breathtaking. Sitting on the porch listening to the falls never got old…we could’ve stayed there all day.You can walk to multiple trails with different vantage points of the falls, which made exploring super easy and fun.The location is convenient, and the home is easy to access. Balpha, the owner, greeted us on arrival and couldn’t have been nicer. You can tell he truly loves sharing this special place.We visited in March, so some restaurants were still closed, but we didn’t mind. We grabbed a few things at the Dollar General and enjoyed sandwiches at the house (because honestly, you won’t want to leave that view anyway). We did find a great spot recommended by Balpha—New Tiger's Inn Restaurant—and ended up going twice! Check out their daily specials on Facebook.If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!

Waking up and falling asleep listening to DeSoto Falls was magical. The Cliff House had everything we needed for our stay and we will never forget that view.

Gorgeous little home overlooking the falls. Falls were just a trickle when we first arrived due to dry weather but it rained the last night and we got to see the falls flowing fully our last morning.

Absolute perfection. We would not change one thing about our stay. Loved reading in open kitchen, cooking in open kitchen, fireplace on. And Balpha? The most beautiful, exquisite human being you’ll ever meet.

Perfect getaway for our family!

Such a wonderfully unique and satisfying experience. The setting of the home atop the cliff overlooking the waterfall was incredible. After an exhausting schedule we needed a sanctuary to rest and recharge, and this was perfect. Nestled within a wooded landscape, we relaxed on the enclosed lanai and soaked in the sounds of the waterfall. Added with the walks through the adjacent state park, nearby trails, and visits to the local village of Mentone, it was just what we needed. The home itself is beautifully decorated with modern features that left us wanting for nothing. This is a very clean and well maintained oasis that we are grateful to have discovered.

A beautiful view- I took the best nap on the porch listening to the waterfall! Mentone is a cute little town. The Hatter’s Cafe was so cute if you like Alice in Wonderland or tea. Mentone Market had delicious pizza! Our meal at Elevation Cafe was perfect!

The loveliest place to unwind and relax. In fact, that’s all we did! The view of Desoto Falls from the screened porch was spectacular as was the sound of the rain hitting the metal roof. Mentone is a beautiful little village with the perfect market and outstanding restaurants. Our host could not have been more welcoming. We can’t wait to get back!

The property is ideally situated near the water fall - it is literally in the back yard to view. To hike to get a better look , you are short walk away from it and the scenic trails—once we parked, we didn’t feel the need to leave. It’s incredibly peaceful and serene, making it the perfect escape for a quiet weekend getaway. You can shop for groceries at the little downtown store or go to Fort Payne-if you need more variety. Downtown feels like something out of a storybook: charming, small, and full of character. The owner has thoughtfully considered every detail to ensure the perfect aesthetic vibe along with a comfortable and memorable stay. We highly recommend it and truly can’t imagine a better place to experience the beauty of Mentone.

As always, checkin was simple and the accommodations were first class!

Our stay was two nights. I wish it could've been two months! Such a gorgeous view of the falls and canyon below. Adding to the tranquility was the sound of the rushing water. Usually up-and-at'em, we found ourselves lazily spending the morning reading on the porch. Evenings on the screened porch were lovely. The screen enclosure extended to the bottom of the porch, below the floorboards, to keep sneaky skeeters and other insects that would typically try to find their way in towards the lights out. Yes, we noticed that detail and appreciated it! The absence of light pollution allowed us to engage in some stargazing. Visible to the naked eye were the Milky Way and some satellites. Mother Nature even treated us to some shooting stars. Thank you for your hospitality, Balpha! I look forward to returning one day and sending friends your way to enjoy your little piece of heaven, too.

A great place for a get away. House was set up that a mature couple could enjoy. Everything about it made you feel special. Beautiful art, vases of fresh flowers. And a screen in porch. You could see the falls from every room. Will be returning in the near future.

Unsurpassed beauty

My husband and I stayed four days a nights. We were already familiar with the area. We have wanted the opportunity to view Desoto Falls from a different perspective and it did not disappoint! We could see and hear the falls from every room and from the screened deck. It was very relaxing. The house was well equipped for our needs.

The Host was wonderful! The accommodation was perfect! The view was breathtaking!!!

This was our second time there but it will never fail to impress. Myself and my children plan on returning again and again.

It was truly a pleasure to stay at the Cliff House! The view of the falls was magnificent and the natural white noise was so peaceful. This place was exactly what I was hoping for when I planned this trip. The cabin is well maintained, clean and beautiful. It was an ideal location to view the waterfall from the outdoor porch, screened in porch and even the two bedrooms. The trails are in walking distance and they weren't crowded. My only complaint is that both stand up showers are very small. I look forward to planning another trip to the same location.

We can not wait to go back. Perfect in every way.

The Cliff House is a must!

An absolutely beautiful scenic location overlooking the edge of the canyon with a 3 tiered waterfall. The house was beautifully appointed with original artwork, and comfortable relaxed furniture. The management was very gracious. The sole word of caution is to bring your own can of coffee as none is provided.

The home and view was perfect. The owner was so informative and helpful. We loved everything about our stay! We will definitely be back!

From reserving this beautiful home online to check in to our stay this was perfect in every way! The owners are very kind, they live a home away but are not intrusive in any way. We were outside one morning, and they happened to drive by and apologized! We wanted to invite them over to hang out with us they are just that kind! When you pull in you will hear the waterfall but once you step inside it will literally take your breath away. Like the description says you can see the waterfall from every room! It is so peaceful. There is so much to do in the area, we did quite a bit of hiking and also antiquing in Fort Payne. There is a gas grill at the house, we cooked almost every meal there but did have appetizers at the Old Mill Antique Mall restaurant in Fort Payne. We also had a fabulous lunch at the Wildflower Cafe in Mentone. We agree with all the other reviews; we will be back. This is a great halfway mark for us to meet our family from Indiana. We live in Florida. Balpha and Brue, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home! We will see you again soon!

The Cliff House was perfect for relaxing. It was clean, comfortable and cozy to sit by the fire and take in the beauty of the Falls. I’d never visited in winter; it has a special beauty. One morning while having breakfast we saw a Bald Eagle soaring through the canyon! Yet another glorious stay at this incredible property.

The property was beautiful with stunning views of Desota Falls. The house was beautifully appointed. My husband has some accessibility issues but everything was on one level except for two steps to get to front porch. We plan to visit again soon.
