We had a fantastic stay. The cottage is homely and has plenty of room with a good-sized living room and kitchen (everything there for cooking) downstairs and 2 good-sized bedrooms upstairs and a shower room all immaculately presented on arrival. Chantal provided good instructions and check-in was straight-forward. We received a warm welcome soon after we had arrived. There was a wood burner that was already made up with a basket of wood to use for free (more available via an honesty box), though we did not use it as we were already amply warm from the two storage heaters in the property that is the main source of heating. We chose it as a base for a couple of days of walking. Appleby is easily walkable and we had a fantastic crisp wall-to-wall sunshine walk up to High Cup Nick which is walkable from the cottage, though we drove a small distance to Dufton to start the walk. All on all, a great start to the New Year, many thanks to Chantal and her family!

The cottage was very comfortable and well presented. The hosts, Chantel and Richard were very welcoming and helpful with local information. The central location gave us ample opportunities to explore the Lake District, the Dales and many historical places. The Carlisle to Settle railway is fantastic, especially the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct. A really enjoyable place and the week went far too quickly.

Lovely property, very well maintained, very clean with fitted carpets throughout. Comfortable chairs, good quality bedding, plenty of storage. The property was warm and cosy with the option of logs fires in cooler weather. The owners were really helpful and friendly. Plenty of places to visit in the local area. A very relaxing place for a holiday.

This cottage is part of a converted barn, big enough for two. Everything you need is there. The woodburner makes it warm and cosy for a September holiday.

Every room in this cottage is beautifully decorated and has every appliance you could wish for, even a flat screen in the bedroom. It is situated in a most gorgeous area ideal for visiting the lakes or the dales. The owners are so friendly and helpful. Can't recommend highly enough.
