Brooksville, Maine
Enjoy beautiful views of Penobscot Bay, islands, and Camden Hills from the living room, porch, and beach of this well-loved waterfront cottage. Get lulled to sleep by the waves lapping the shore below, and waken to the sound of gulls and lobstermen hauling their traps.
The rustic cottage, built in 1928, is ideal for a family or two couples vacationing together. We are located at beautiful Blake’s Point, Cape Rosier, only a 20 minute drive to Blue Hill, where you can enjoy cultural events, gift shops, restaurants, hiking, and shopping.
Acadia National Park, on Mt. Desert, or the picturesque and historic town of Stonington make great day trips.
Or, simply relax on the porch, walk five minutes to Bakeman's Beach, read a book, kayak (bring your own or we'll have rental info. upon your arrival), pick blueberries and make a pie. Wade, swim, or hike around Cape Rosier. Ideal for those who want to get away to relax in solitude, work on a craft or art project, meditate and beachcomb. It's Maine, the way life should be.
The centerpiece of the cottage is a beautiful hand-made chimney consisting of rocks personally collected by grandparents and family. The driftwood mounted on the walls date back more than 50 years and evoke images of sea life and animals.
The kitchen, recently renovated, offers full features to include range/oven, dishwasher, full-sized refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and toaster oven. The large kitchen window affords spectacular views of Hog, Pond, and Western islands.
The cheery living room invites relaxation after a day of exploration or water fun.
Modern bathrooms (one bathroom includes a shower, toilet, vanity; the smaller bathroom has a toilet and vanity), full supply of linens, and comfortable beds await the visitors. Washer and dryer are convenient and saves trips to laundromats.
The screened-in porch encourages vacationers to take in gorgeous sunsets, sounds of bird life, and passing lobster and sailboats. The swinging glider on the porch affords refreshing sleep in clear Maine air. A trundle bed on the porch provides extra sleeping capacity.
The cottage has been in the family for nearly 100 years and we want to share it with people who will give it the love that our family has given it over many years. It has tremendous sentimental value to us. We know you will enjoy your stay.
Beautiful family cottage in a remote location. Maine at its best.
It's a spectacular place to relax, enjoy the sights and sounds of mid-coast Maine with every amenity we could want. Love the rustic cottage with lots of books about life in Maine. Great restaurant nearby in Buck's Harbor called Buck's. Great nature preserves nearby. Wonderful view of Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills. Quiet.
This is our fourth time staying at this cottage. It is clean and comfortable and the view is breathtaking, as is the neighborhood. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. We love Clancy cottage!
My wife & I spent a month at the Clancy Cottage and loved every minute. First of all, the location is divine! It is hard to describe just how beautiful Cape Rosier is & the cottage is particularly well situated with fantastic views. On 4th of July, we watched fireworks from at least 4 surrounding towns, while sitting on the cottage porch! And we loved watching nature tv from the porch -- eagles, dolphins, seals as wells as kayakers and endless sailboats. It was like a moving painting everyday. Next, the cottage is so charming, with great touches -- art, books, comfy furniture -- that make it feel more like a home than a rental. It is also the best supplied rental we have ever experienced -- kitchen supplies & equipment, outdoorsy supplies, etc. It made our stay easy breezy. Lastly, while being tucked away on the Cape was delightful, it was also easy to visit several nearby towns & sights. Don't miss the Saturday morning farmers market at Four Seasons Farm, which is just a 5min drive away! Lynda was a super communicative host & made sure our stay was very smooth. We loved Clancy Cottage & can't wait to return!
AWESOME!
Our family had a great time here. The host was easy to communicate with and accommodated all our needs. The cabin maintains it quaint 1929 original build flavor, but is super comfortable. The screened in porch with day bed flowing into the open deck was a hit. Swimmable beach right in front of cabin. Stay here, you will love it as we did. Brian
Words can’t express the absolute beauty and tranquility of the cottage and the expansive views not to mention the ever changing intensity of the sunrises and sunsets. Will come again and again.
Returned for the 4th year in a row and had an amazing 10 days of relaxation in a rustic, comfortable cottage with all the amenities we needed. Views from the porch and deck are spectacular, lots of lovely walks nearby, windjammers and menhaden passing by on the water. So quiet at night and brilliant stars. Wonderful library of books to read about Maine and its history and notable people.
While an atmospheric vintage cottage, it also has all the modern-day amenities to make a stay super-comfortable. The panoramic view of the Penobscot Bay and islands is truly incredible and impossible to capture fully in a photo. The weather and water changed often, and we enjoyed it all, from sunshine to fog. While you have a sense of totally being away, enjoying nature, all the amenities you could possibly need are no more than 30 minutes away, or less, including the treat Buck's restaurant. Never made it to Acadia because we were crowd-averse in peak season and preferred exploring nearby places like Deer Isle, Castine and Blue Hill. Were able to fulfill most of our grocery needs at the excellent Tuesday Brooksville farmers market. Lynda was full of good suggestions, including hikes. A special experience!
The property & ocean front location exceeded my expectations! It is absolutely gorgeous.
