The Hillside cabin has 30 yards of stone and wooden steps leading from the parking area to the cabin.

The South and The Main Cabin (Idyll Reserve | 1 and 2) were built with guests with limited mobility in mind; a step-less ramp from parking to main entrance, a flat floor plan, and wide hallways and doors allow easier access. Please let us know directly if there are any other accommodations we can provide to make your stay more enjoyable.

Warm and cozy, The Hillside Cabin is the perfect place to unpack your favorite book and open a bottle of wine. This cabin sleeps up to 4 and features a large great room with fully equipped kitchen, a large living and dining area and a gas fireplace. A sunken hot tub, fire table, gas grill and a cozy lounge area complete your outdoor paradise on your deck nestled into the treetops.
A 30-yard stone staircase leads the way from the parking area up to this treetop cabin, if steps are a problem for you, we advise you to look into booking our similar cabins, The South (IR 1 - no steps) or The North (IR 5 - about 10 steps). Extraordinarily well-behaved dogs are welcome in The Hillside Studio.
● 1 CA king bedroom
● 1 queen sleeper sofa in living room
● 1 bathroom

We recommend driving your own vehicle as ride-sharing and public transit are limited in our area. This cabin offers parking space for 2 cars. Two EV chargers are located on the property and available for your use.

A 4x4 car is recommended for the Hillside Cabin in winter (Idyll Reserve | 4 and 5) as it is at the end of a long drive which may be slippery in muddy or snowy conditions. If desired, 2-wheel drive cars can be parked near the upper cabins and the drive walked.

Cell coverage in the Hocking Hills region can be spotty. We recommend downloading the directions before heading out.

Propane for gas grill and firewood for fire pit provided - you may want to bring a fire starter log or two. There is a pack-n-play with bedding, a high chair, and children's dishes and utensils stored in each cabin. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Cabin, The Hillside, & The North (Idyll Reserve | 3,4,5).

We had a great getaway at Idyll! The cabin is cozy and well appointed with great views of the surrounding hills. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and a few non perishable items and the Roosevelt coffee that was provided was delicious. Communication was clear and timely- I had some concerns about getting there since we had just had a major snowstorm but was reassured by the response and we had no issues. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Idyll was a beautiful escape, with a minimalist design that simultaneously felt like home we had everything we needed to enjoy a getaway.

Hillside delivered EVERYTHING I was hoping for. I enjoyed a wonderful few days with my dog (who loved the surrounding areas for walks). It is amazing how quiet it was outdoors and made it feel like a spiritual experience among nature! I loved the open, beautiful views and amazing sunrise every morning. Kitchen was spectacular and had everything one could need. Fireplace worked perfectly with the touch of a button! and made for comfy couch relaxing time. Modern lighting controls made for easy mood lighting and Sonos sound was great for playing my Spotify. We made short trips to Old Man's Cave and Old Growth Trail. I cannot wait to come back in the Fall to see colorful leaves changing. Thank you so much for this sanctuary!

Enjoyed our 3 days in the wonderful Hillside cabin. Leaned into the art of doing nothing while taking in the beautiful surroundings and lucky to have woken up to a fresh snow fall. The cabin provided everything we needed and the design and esthetic was everything we hoped for. Would love to return.

This was our 3rd time staying at Idyll and we love it. My only concern is the water kept smelling like sewage, really bad. I understand you have a water well system, but it should not smell like that. It was quite unpleasant to use for just bare necessities like showering. Thank you!

We love the property and design of the cabins. This was our second stay at IR. We previously loved cabin 5. This trip we had a couple of questions/concerns: first, there was an overwhelming sulfur odor when using any water supply. It made the shower/tub less than ideal. A smaller issue was that the coffee grinder does not work in the Hillside Cabin.

This house was just fabulous!! We thoroughly enjoyed our long week end there. The only tricky part was walking up the steps to the house, which was difficult for me. Loved our stay!!

This was the perfect space for my birthday getaway. The fully stocked kitchen was awesome, the decor and surrounding areas were so beautiful. The only critique I’d give is that we couldn’t get the fireplace to work and the heat took a long time to warm up given how cold it was outside. Even with that, I’d totally book again! *Idyll Reserve Response* Dear Christina, we're so pleased you enjoyed your birthday. We'll get the heat and fireplace looked at ASAP!

I had such a wonderful time in Hocking Hills and Idyll Reserve was the perfect place to unwind. I think this unit is the most secluded. The steps leading to the cabin is not that far or steep. It is very quiet and beautiful. Dryer was out of order which I was notified ahead and a bummer, but it's okay. I could not get fireplace to work for some reason but it could be me. Outside fire pit worked great and so did the hot tub. I was a solo traveler. Stayed for 4 nights and hiked Hocking Hills which is very close from here. I wish I could have stayed forever!

Private, comfortable , well appointed cabins that felt like home away from home. Close to everything you’d want to do in the area. We definitely will be back!

My stay at the Resserve was perfect! It had everything that I needed to cook and relax after a day of hiking nearby. I loved all of the amenities! I will be scheduling another visit soon.

The house is lovely—once it cooled down a bit, I loved having the windows open. Nearby hiking is breathtaking. A great stay. Thanks!

Idyll is a vision executed to perfection. The cabins are tastefully designed and thoughtfully appointed, the location is minutes from prime hiking and other activities. This was our first visit but we’re already planning our next.
