Stayed Sep 23, 2024This is a lovely property in an ideal location. It is just a short walk outside the village proper. It is quiet, surrounded by grapevines and fruit trees, and secluded enough to feel very private. The house is comfortable and well stocked with anything you may want. The beds were comfortable. We didn't cook anything but there were plenty of dishware and utensils. The Douro valley is picturesque. The village of Pinhao is very pleasant with a variety of wineries and excellent restaurants to visit. Francisco was warm and accommodating. He was responsive and helpful. I couldn't recommend this property more.

Stayed Dec 30, 2022After messaging with Francisco as we planned our visit, upon meeting him and his lovely wife, Maria Jorge, at the house, I asked him if I could give him a hug. That should tell you a lot. My husband, college age daughter and I stayed 3 nights, including New Years', when we sat in front of the fireplace with wine, cheese and bread that Francisco had someone deliver! We felt like we were welcomed into the home of old friends. Francisco showed us all the features of the house and property, shared its history, and let us know they were always available if we needed anything. We can only imagine that it is even more inviting on warm, sunny days. It was spacious, comfortable, clean and definitely gives you a sense of place. The kitchen is totally complete with everything you need, Francisco made sure we had enough firewood and with the orange trees, we had fresh OJ every morning :) It was the perfect location for us to explore the amazing wines of the Douro Valley and also a quick walk into town. We couldn't have been happier and felt very fortunate to have met Francisco and Maria Jorge. Just sorry we didn't have the chance to say good bye in person! It was a truly memorable stay~

Stayed Sep 20, 2022From the moment we made the reservation, we knew this would be an exceptional stay. Francisco’s communication was detailed, congenial and always welcoming. This stay in Pinhão was to cap off two weeks of travel from Lisbon and we were looking for a place to relax. The owners met us at the property to welcome us and give us the history of how they came to have this wonderful property. We immediately felt more like family than guests! After giving us a tour of the home and amenities, they bud us farewell, assuring us they were available for anything we might need. The entire stay was flawless. Rooms comfortable, kitchen well appointed, ground’s impeccable. We even used the barbecue to grill ribs our last night. Relied on Francisco to set an early cab appointment for our departure. If you are looking for nirvana, it is here. We will cherish our time here and the opportunity to get to know this amazing couple! Muito obrigado my friend!! A few notes. Rental car is the best option here. Taxis can be difficult to get off peak hours and most drivers speak little English. The supermarket is an easy walk across the bridge and just up the hill. Bonfim 1896 for dinner is a must.
