The region

Porlock is a historic village on the edge of Exmoor National Park in Somerset, in a sheltered vale between the moor and the Bristol Channel coast. Its heritage stretches back to Saxon times.

The meandering High Street is lined with independent shops, including a traditional butcher, chemist, hardware shop, post office, two convenience stores, art galleries, a chocolate shop, and a cash machine. Most shops keep hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending during the summer season.

The harbour hamlet of Porlock Weir is approximately one mile to the west and makes a lovely walk or a short drive. There you will find a 15th-century tidal harbour, a pub, restaurants, cafes, and independent shops and galleries.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles away. Here you will find larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrisons on the outskirts with longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, and a range of other shops. EV charging points are available at Porlock Central Car Park.

Lovely quite little cottage with contemporary interior. Beds were super comfortable. Porlock is a small village with many amenities, 3 pubs, 2 mini supermarkets, a few galleries and tea rooms. As a family of 4 we stayed here for 10 days and had plenty to do in the surrounding area. We had some great walks, followed by cream teas, hired bikes, drove over to Woolacombe for a day body boarding and my favourite a super fast and fun RIB boat trip from Ilfracombe . Fab holiday. Thank you.

A lovely little cosy cottage in the heart of Porlock. Very well equipped and with lots of useful information about Exmoor. Super village shops for groceries and excellent village pubs. Dogs thoroughly welcomed everywhere. Perfect location for visiting Exmoor. I would definitely recommend.

We last stayed in the cottage 8 years ago and welcomed the improvements the new owners have made, particularly the kitchen. All in all a very comfortable and well appointed cottage. Lovely base for exploring Exmoor - the walks from the cottage were quite delightful.

If you like log fires then make sure you have plenty of kindling and don't buy logs from the hardware store (they were damp!)

Porlock is the perfect place to stay to explore Exmoor, with many lovely walks starting from the village. The village itself has pubs, cafes, an excellent village store selling local produce. Grace Cottage could not be more conveniently situated, right in the heart of Porlock and minutes from all its facilities and is a cosy, comfortable home from home.

Grace Cottage was very quaint. The front garden was safe for our two dogs. Parking at the local garage was very convenient. The location was excellent, Porlock has plenty of shops, cafes, takeaways and pubs, many dog friendly. It was very easy to visit Exmoor's many attractions from the Cottage. We would certainly book to stay at Grace Cottage again.
