A sense of wonder is palpable when here, watching the misty morning fog over the water, or the deer grazing in the early evening. Bryant cottage, located on a bluff overlooking the Bay avoids the road noise, damp and cold of the cottages built over the water, while providing plenty of outdoors space for play or contemplation of the stunning views. Access to Tomales Bay for boating, swimming, fishing etc. is just across the road via the Marconi boat launch.
And added bonus of Brynant Cottage - for those not wanting to cook or looking to explore the famed food culture of California- we are close to the famed Hog Island Oyster Company (reservations recommended) or The Marshall Store (something for everyone at this Oyster Shack Smoke House!). Tony’s Seafood, a mere 0.7 miles away, is the nearest eatery and bar. Famed restaurants dot the surrounding area and artisan foods abound such as the renowned Cheese producers Cowgirl creamy. Tomales Bay is a gastronomic destination, and Brynant Cottage puts you on the door step of everything on offer.
The nearby Point Reyes National Seashore Park is not to be missed- only a scenic twenty minute drive from Bryant Cottage. Point Reyes has multiple incredible day hikes with expansive ocean views, wildlife galore (think elk, foxes, whales, owls) and the opportunity to enjoy it without large crowds of people. Marconi State Historic Park, located next door (can be accessed through the gate at the end off our private road) offers several well posted easy hiking trails with stunning Bay views for an after dinner stroll.
There is a stunning variety of birds and wildlife that make Tomales Bay their home. Deer, wild turkeys, foxes are frequent visitors to Brynant cottage and spotting seals in the Bay is not unusual. Oyster beds dot the cove in front of the cottage and you can watch the oyster farmers plying their trade.
Tomales Bay is a unique 12-mile-long natural resource with numerous designations including being named a “Wetland of International Importance” in 2002. It supports plants, animals, fish, waterbirds, clams and oysters, seals, otters, and other wetland-dependent species including several threatened and endangered species. It is an important waterbird migratory stopover site and over-wintering ground along the Pacific flyway - it regularly hosts over 20,000 individuals in the winter months. Tomales Bay is a 6,800-acre estuary on the West Marin coast, 40 miles northwest of San Francisco. The bay occupies the seaward end of a rift valley that was formed by the intersection of the San Andreas Fault with the Northern California coastline, it is one mile wide, and relatively shallow, with an average depth of 18 feet. The bay exchanges water with the Pacific Ocean, thus supporting a unique marine culture and industry begun by the Coastal Miwok Indians 5,000 years ago. American and European pioneers in the mid-19th century saw Tomales Bay as the promised land for beef cattle and dairy ranching, farming, fishing, and logging. West Marin residents have preserved the pasturelands and maritime seashores to the present day. Shoreline Highway 1, from Point Reyes Station north to the Sonoma Border, encompasses the harmonic balance of environmentalism and pristine wilderness.
We look forward to sharing this magical location and Brynant Cottage with you- please don't hesitate to send us any questions you have, we are happy to answer and assist you in any way that we can so that your vacation is just that- a restful, serene, and enjoyable time!
We stayed in this lovely home for a weekend and fell in love with it. The home is clean, up to date, and everything works perfectly. There are lots of really nice touches, from the decor to the fully stocked kitchen to the comfy bedding. We LOVE West Marin and are very familiar with the area. We used this nest as our home base for long, long drives through the rolling hills and craggy scenery. We were graced with a beautiful rainstorm our first night, which added to the misty magic. The property is 15 minutes from Pt. Reyes Station (full grocery store and lots of restaurants and shops), and just a few minutes from Hog Island Oyster Company, where we had dinner our first night. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook a full meal, although we did not prepare meals while we were there. We lit a fire both nights, and enjoyed 2 beautiful, cozy evenings overlooking Tomales Bay. Jennifer was very responsive to messages, and everything was easy to access and understand. We couldn't have been happier with our stay, and my husband is already talking about returning. Thank you!
Great stay as always.
We enjoyed our stay, lovely location 3 topics that could be better: Backyard looks poorly maintained Firewood was not sufficient Hot tub was only 94 degs on one day and we could not find out why The goods: Kitchen is nicely equipped, ample space, nice hike to the Marconi antennas, beautiful view over the bay Thanks Dag
Spent the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend here & had a lovely, restful visit! Weather was perfect! Enjoyed the hot tub, wood burning stove & beautiful sunsets! House is well equipped & met the needs of our group…grandparents, parents, 2 kids, 6 & 3. Ventured out to Heart’s Desire Beach one day & enjoyed the trails in Marconi State Park.
Had a lovely stay at the Marshall cottage. Home was spotless; kitchen had all necessary utensils, appliances, etc, except for coffee filters. Had to bring our own firewood, but we were told of this. Just my husband and I stayed, but this would be a great place for a family. Outside is amazing; view of bay is spectacular, saw lots of birds and deer visited every evening. Close to all the great oyster places as well as Point Reyes Station.
We wanted a place to stay and enjoy a view while our friends from LA came into town to visit. We live in a small apt in SF so we were seeking a nice place with a view and good food near by and that is exactly what we got. The house is bigger than it looks in the photos. The views are gorgeous with or without fog, and the restaurants near by were DELICIOUS! Highly recommend this place.
We enjoyed our stay and loved watching the turkeys, deer and quail in the yard. The cottage is meticulously cared for and the kitchen well organized. We appreciated the selection of maps and books about the surrounding area.. The hot tub was wonderful! We look forward to a return visit!
The house was very clean and situated in a great spot. You feel like you are right on the bay because the road is below the views, you can only hear occasional cars but never see them. There were many foxes, turkey, and other critters that visited the yard. The hot tub was clean. Overall a great stay and we would love to return!
We were only there for three nights, but it was the perfect staycation. The house was very clean and has beautiful views. One of our favorite parts of it was the easy access (walk past one house) to Marconi State Park. My husband and I took numerous walks in the park at different times of the day, and we only saw one person. It is a very quiet park with lots of trails and beautiful vistas of Tomales Bay. There was lots of wildlife in the yard: a very friendly fox, turkeys, and deer. Loved feeling like we were getting away but only a 90-minute drive from the East Bay. We would definitely return.
My wife, 13 year old son, sister, brother-in-law and 9 month old nephew stayed for a 3 day weekend and it was fabulous! There was plenty of living space for us all and my son even chose to spend nights on the couch and loved it! The hot tub was a huge perk and well maintained. We had a baby fox visit and deer! We were there for a wedding at the Strauss Barn, only 10 minutes away! We were about 5 minutes to the Marshall Store and 12 minutes from Nick’s cove- highly recommend both especially for the bbq oysters. Our communication with the host was easy and her directions were very clear! We had a blast! Although there is no cell service anyway- lol - this house has awesome Wi-Fi and direct tv. Thank you for a memorable weekend!!!
This was a last minute trip for us to celebrate a birthday. Jennifer was very accommodating and helped ensure that the cottage would be ready for us before we arrived. The cottage is cozy and comfortable, with a well stocked kitchen and wood burning stove. We especially loved relaxing in the hot tub while soaking in views of the bay. It’s also ideally located, with peaceful, scenic drives to Point Reyes or Bodega Bay. We loved our time here and hope to return soon.
Beautiful private setting with trees and water views. We especially appreciated the art work and the decorative touches throughout the house. Well stocked kitchen. Saw a fox many turkeys and birds. Primary bedroom had a very comfortable mattress. We hope to return in the future.
We are 3 ladies, age 62+, wanting a get-away to enjoy birding & hiking in Point Reyes. The large & sweeping grounds are serene. Very well manicured. Parking is very easy, right to the front door. We never used the washer/dryer but nice to have. Coffee pot, frig, oven worked great. Vista is so calming. We saw seals on the dock, vultures & wild turkeys in the surrounding trees. Bluebirds & Scrub jays visited daily along with a pair of gray foxes. The home is impeccable. Everything needed is right there! The linens & bathrooms are very clean. Water pressure good. Bathrobes are plush & soft for our nightly hot-tub lullaby. A stream nearby lulled us outside while we enjoyed our drinks & charcuterie, along with warm winds in the tall trees. We can’t wait to return! It is secluded & quiet, just what we were looking for.
This was a wonderful place for me and my sisters to meet and have an adventurous weekend in near the Point Reyes National Seashore. There were beds for everyone, the kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, and we luxuriated watching the sunset from the hot tub. We had brought croquet to play, and the yard was not in a state for us to be able to do so, but we had plenty of other entertainment. Thank you!
Such an easy weekend away. Gorgeous house, with beautiful views. Well equipped kitchen, very clean, everything we needed.
Our family spent Easter weekend here and had a blast! Lots of playing in the yard with that gorgeous view, hot tub every evening, and delicious seafood minutes away. Can’t wait to go back!
