The newly remodeled bathroom has more space and a contemporary shower (the quirky "shower in the kitchen" mentioned in older reviews is no longer here as we now have a completely remodeled kitchen-see photos).

In & Around Marshall, CA:
Only a little over a one hour drive from the Golden Gate Bridge, the town of Marshall is located in West Marin, 20 minutes from Point Reyes Station and close to Bolinas, Stinson Beach, Dillon Beach and Bodega Bay.
Joe’s Studio is near Point Reyes National Seashore, surrounded by Golden Gate National Recreation Area, State and County parklands and just 20 minutes to the town of Point Reyes Station and your gateway to the lighthouse and the extraordinary beaches of Western Tomales Bay. The nearby towns of Inverness, Point Reyes Station, and Olema offer gourmet restaurants and markets with local organic produce, artisanal food, oysters and wine.
Conveniently located on the Eastern shoreline of Tomales Bay one mile south of Nick’s Cove Restaurant & Bar
2 miles north of famous Hog Island Oyster Company.
Minutes away from The Marshall Store & Deli
A short distance further south is famous Tony’s Seafood Restaurant.
Stop at a winery or two as you head south 10 miles from Tony’s on your way to the historic town of Point Reyes Station with restaurants, bars, grocery store, shops, bakery, galleries and more. Point Reyes National Seashore is ten minutes south of town.
Among other well-known artisanal entities, Point Reyes Station is the home of The CowGirl Creamery. Watch them make cheese then take away the ingredients for a meal back at the studio or a picnic lunch from their deli. Eat on their picnic grounds, paddle lunch across the bay to a deserted white-sand beach for a private afternoon, or, eat lunch trailside as you hike through Point Reyes National Seashore.
We do not permit pets.
Nice place. Either I misunderstood or it was not made clear that there is a second attached unit. It was also said there were no pets allowed. But three wet large rampaging dogs showed up with the people in the other unit. I would not have rented the unit if I knew that and it negatively impacted my stay. The people in the other unit were friends of the owner so got special permission to have obnoxious animals. I guess that is the risk you take with these types of rentals. I will not do it again.
This studio is larger than expected and has a good layout! Very private feeling even though attached to the main house! Stunning views off the private patio (though the lowtide can be stinky!) Rob was communicative and easy to reach! Would stay here again no question!
As always, Joe’s Studio is the perfect escape from the heat of the Foothills. My “salt water fix” revives me, not to mention the yummy fresh seafood found in Inverness, Point Reyes Station, Marshall and Bodega Bay. The new shower is lovely, however, we were getting used to showering in the kitchen. The renovated kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal “at home”. We will be back.
Cozy, quiet stay on tomales bay - really enjoyed our stay!
We loved our stay at Joe’s Studio. It was perfect for my husband and I and our 6-year old. The view was incredible, my son swam in the water, and it’s within a 5-10 minute drive to a market (Tomales General Store) and 4 great restaurants (we ate at Tony’s Seafood (twice!) & Hog Island, but didn’t have time to try Nick’s Cove or Marshall General). The studio itself is very comfortable and was very clean. Loved the private patio with the doors out onto the bay. We had ample space and wished we had more time there. (Take note: there is only a hot plate for cooking, no stovetop. My fault for not realizing it, as the owner did mention it in the VRBO listing). Would highly recommend this place for a quiet, beautiful and remote vacation. Thank you again!
Definitely a quiet hideaway for a secret interlude especially when the main house is not occupied. A minimalist kitchen affected our dining menu but not much. The TV and DVD playing setup has very confusing instructions. The barbacues were not sanitary enough to use. The deck furniture were dated but safe to use
Site was better than anticipated overall. Kind welcome, nice outdoor space, and more than adequate indoor space. We were, overall, appreciative of the experience.
Great
Nice little studio and great for that early morning kayaking when the bay is calm. We paddled up to the oyster beds staying close to shore and encountered a group of leopard sharks in shallow water. Really neat to see them swimming and I accidentally touched one with my paddle and it startled me when it leapt out of the water to get away. If you don't know these small sharks are abundant and safe. No reported bites from them and they are beautiful to see.
This studio is amazing. It is very cozy and comfortable. It had everything that we needed. It is right on the water. My kids loved that they could play with sand anytime they wanted.
FOOD TIMES
Joe’s Studio is funky and fun. A great location and everything you need is provided in the kitchen. An easy drive to Point Reyes, Inverness or Bodega Bay. Sitting out on the deck or walking on the beach at low tide gives me my much needed “salt water fix”.
Beautiful little spot
always great
Great place!
I stayed at Joe’s Studio with my friends and had a lot of fun! It’s a great location on the bay near Point Reyes and the beach. The studio was well kept and clean.
Nice and quiet family getaway.
Small but comfortable. Shower in the kitchen is interesting ?. It worked out fine and we loved that it was quiet and relaxing.
I came here with my 89 year old mom to celebrate her birthday. The location and setup was perfect for us. Rob was responsive and the studio was clean and well appointed. I don't know how many more trips like this we'll be able to take so this was especially special. Thank you
Joe's Studio is a wonderful retreat, comfortable and a little quirky with a feeling of family and history. The deck, next to the main house is right on the bay, is where my wife hung out watching the turning of the tides, beautiful sunset and egrets dotting the mudflats. A wonderful, restorative three nights.
Great wood decks, overlooking the bay. Easy access to local hot spots. but also easy to just do nothing!
The cottage is great! Clean, has everything you need, perfect size and location with a beautiful view of the bay! the hardest part was getting the futon to lay flat for a bed (heavy and sturdy wood frame that got stuck) so keep that in mind if you have a bad back
