Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. Additional kayaks are available for rent. This Cottage, DA Loft is very old, it is a mixture of old log and pine interior with a new old style pine floor throughout. It is an open concept with cathedral ceiling and a nice sized loft. There is plenty of space and it easily accommodates 2-8 guests. This cottage is generally the most favored due to it's size and character. The front porch is big and it overlooks the river and has the best view of them all. There is a 43 HDTV w/Netflix streaming and WiFi along with plenty of seating in the living room area. There is a nice expandable dining table circa 1950's that will seat everyone staying. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking meals. There are 2 queen beds and 2 double size beds in the cabin. Two full bathrooms, both with showers are available as well. There is a nice grill outside on the deck overlooking the river.

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you after you arrive and give you advice about the area and things you can enjoy during your vacation.

Big enough for everyone to have privacy but not so big you wonder where everyone is. I want to go back!

The water in the shower was way too hot and the temperature could not be adjusted. Thankfully there was another shower. When waking up on our last day we discovered mouse droppings on the stove and countertop.

Loved the rustic cottage and peaceful river just out front. Cottage quite clean but I was surprised to find that someone had put some plates away dirty so I washed all the dishes we used before using. Otherwise a very enjoyable place to be.

The location was great but the interior of the cabin was very old especially the kitchen. Inside cleanliness was okay but the exterior was moldy and gross. When we pulled up I was very concerned about what the inside would be like. There were no plates and the rest of the kitchen was very poorly stocked.

This rustic cabin comfortably slept 5 adults. The place was spotless, and the kitchen and bathrooms were updated. It was great to have 2 full bathrooms for us to use. The overall vibe was old-fashioned and relaxing, and the river outside the front door was wonderful!

Great cabin right on the river. Quiet neighborhood and perfect location for Lake Superior beach access with a 15 minute drive to Munising and only 40 mins to Marquette. Cabin is clean, with comfortable large beds, 2 bathrooms, and all the kitchen essentials you need. Grill works great too!

The property description for this house is dishonest. The cabin is located on the river, which is great. What you don’t see from the pictures are the surrounding properties. This is done intentionally. Directly next to the cabin are other “cabins.” They are run down. There is some motel looking structure and broken down playground behind the cabin. Those are also not featured in the many pictures. We stayed in the cabin for a few nights. We tried to leave sooner but I was unable to find another place to stay. The cabin is infested with mice. They got into our food in the kitchen. I sent a message to the owner and he refunded our 60 cleaning fee. We spent over 200 in groceries, most of them ended up in the trash because the mice got into everything! There were no cleaning products in the cabin so it made it impossible to clean up all the mice droppings and sanitize the dishes. The owner said he did not know there was a mice problem but there were bait boxes all over the outside of the cabin. Additionally other visitors and mentioned mice. Furthermore, some of the window screens had holes in them. This allowed bugs to get in. It appears that they tried to repair the screens with scotch tape. This place ruined my our vacation.

We stayed here several nights. It was easy to get to. The cabin was fully furnished. Right on the river. Centrally located to what we were visiting in the area. Host was quick to respond. It is a rustic area and the cabin felt rustic as well. We couldn’t beat the view! Would return, for sure!

Clean, older cabin. The picture shows a simple white sided cabin. It does not show the cabin 6 feet to the side, with all kinds of stuff in the the yard. Also, the area has some nice smaller cabins, and some pretty run down cabins. Inside, just fine, outside, not so nice

Spiders everywhere. Property/grounds in disrepair. No firepit in front of unit but other firepits were full of garbage. Outside plastic chairs broken. Grill filthy. When we contacted the owner to say we were leaving due to misrepresentation of property his comment was OK. not how can we make it better. Lucky we were able to find some place else much nice to stay. Would not have stayed there for free.

Location was excellent for all our group wanted to do. The cabin was in stages of upgrades. Many parts needed serious upgrades. The kitchen was not well stocked. There were virtually no cleaning supplies except for dish and hand soap. With some work this could be an ideal cabin.

This cottage has great views of the river from a large front porch. It is set up to feel like a cottage from the 70s, but everything works. The kitchen was well equipped. The wifi was good. The walls are thin, and the ceiling in the loft is low but it works. The water was unpleasant even using the new Britta provided by the owner. There was a nice supply of puzzles and games provided. There are kayak rentals a short walk away, and it is an easy drive to many outdoor activities. The owner responded quickly to our questions and requests.

Smooth process booking. Good communication from owner. Cabin on River as described. Traveling with a dog, and she loved the river access! It was chilly the first day, but the electric fireplace warm the cabin quickly. By day 3 needed air conditioning, and that was fine. Would book again.

Fabulous great place. One thing that would of added to the listing would be a fire pit for the cabin. But just fabulous. We will definitely be back later this year and next.
