Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included is a gas grill w/propane, and one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. Additional kayaks are available for rent. A fishing boat w/motor are available to you on site for a discounted rate. Mooring your own boat is a possibility, contact me for details.

The Mountain Ash Cottage has tons of character. The interior is all pine and the layout is unique. I have done a lot of custom work inside this cottage to bring out that UP feel. The kitchen is fully stocked and seems to be a favorite with the high ceiling and custom tile. There is a dining table w/4 chairs in the living area, which includes a couch, loveseat and two HDTV's with streaming service and wifi. This cottage is perfect for 2-5 people but can accommodate up to 7. The main bedroom has King bed, the 2nd bedroom has a double with a twin bunk on top. There is an optional sleeping area in what I call a half bedroom which is a pretty small room that has a cot sized bunk bed. The front porch is great for relaxing while looking at the river and there are outdoor chairs for everyone. DA Loft cottage might be everyone's favorite, but this one books the most, and if you stay here, you will understand why.

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you after you arrive and give you advice about the area and things you can enjoy during your vacation.

It was okay, most of the dishware provided was dirty and had to wash before using. There was also broken glass in our parking area. Holes in two windows as well. Also, had an issue with the keys checking in. The area was nice but I'd stay somewhere else next time.

The proximity to Lake Superior and pictured rocks was great and the cabin interior was beautifully updated and clean. The exterior is a bit worn down but it appears that they’re working on it. It was a great stay and I highly recommend.

The odor from the cleaning products was not tolerable for humans. The owner told us the cleaning crew had to use extra product because previous guests smoked and it would dissipate with time. It did not. Alternative lodging was not available. We were told to cancel the reservation which we did. Owner would provide no refund. The next day, he told us the odor was just the surface cleaning products and they would have wiped down the surfaces with water if they had known it was a problem. The chemical smell was very strong and not tolerable by any of the three in my party. They knew it was a problem as we waited around there for two hours with multiple phone calls and they offered no solutions other than to cancel the reservation. Renter beware with this one!

It was nice and quiet. All guests were really nice. The only thing is the grill only had one burner working.

Cottage #7 was very cute, clean and 4 adults slept there comfortably. It was very difficult to find and the #7 on the cabin was very difficult to see.

This stay was definitley one for the books. Such a beautiful cabin in a quaint area right on the river. We were supplied with everything we needed, especially during a winter storm. We made some wonderful memories and would like to return in the warmer months.

Property was great! We used this for a snowmobile trip which included several trucks and trailers. The host was great at communicating an trying to accommodate the parking of all our vehicles. Would stay here again!

Check in was a breeze and wi-fi simple. Nice kitchen with modern appliances. Kitchen supplies could be updated. Only a couple. Of plates and silverware that had seen better days.

Absolutely loved this spot. The inside was even better than expected - cozy and clean. Fam of 5 plus our dog did just fine space wise. Super quiet little cluster of river houses, great pizza and pasty place and a convenient store just up the road, kayak rental people practically within shouting distance, and tons to do within a short drive. We loved it!

My family & I recently visited from Illinois. Our cottage was perfect. It is super cozy, spacious, in a great location with beautiful views. I wish it was summer when we were there because the views would be amazing with all the trees in full bloom.

Good trip. Never been to the area. Hosts were very accommodating and let us reschedule our trip due to warm temperatures from a previous reservation. Cory responded to my texts and phone calls in a timely manner. We were short some pots and pans and dropped some off right after our request

The cabin itself was everything we needed. There was a lack of hooks to put our winter clothes but the host got us a coat tree and a set of hooks to hang over the bathroom door. The property was not very convenient for a 29’ snowmobile trailer. Parking was very limited.

Beds were not comfortable, cleanliness was good for bedding and towels but anything needed for the kitchen was dirty. There was no communication until we arrived and had to call to see how to enter the property. TV in the living room was unusable as it would turn on but only displaying a restarting screen.

Comfortable furniture, good kitchen, plenty of hot water, nice to have two bathrooms, good communication with host, good use of spaces (a little tight in some spots). We would definitely recommend this place.

This was a very clean property. The kitchen had a lot of pots and pans, which was nice. The only thing that we missed was a strainer. The bunks mattresses may have been more comfortable for a child than an adult, but for a few days were ok The shower temperature, water pressure and towels were great

We had a really great stay in this cabin. There were 5 adults total with 3 dogs, so it was a tight fit, but doable if you don’t mind being close 😄 there was plenty of parking for 3 cars (one parked in visitor parking) and the cabin was clean. Our only issue was that there was no hand soap or trash in either of the bathrooms.
