Canyon Hideaway Cottage - Secluded 2 Acres! Swing Bed & FP on Screened Porch

Always love staying at this house. It's a great house and the porches are awesome!

We had a wonderful girl’s weekend in this home! There were 8 of us, and we had plenty of room to visit, play games and craft. The porch is so pretty and also had space for all of us to be comfy. We had a beautiful, restful time together that was full of sweet memories. Everyone loved their beds, the bathrooms were large and easily accommodated 8 women. The kitchen was well-equipped and roomy. Our host, Misti, was quick with responses to questions and so helpful throughout the booking and checkin. Fortunately, we really didn’t need her during our stay, because the instructions were seamless. I would highly recommend this property!

We had a terrific stay in this property. The house was tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything we could want or need. We and our two small dogs were very comfortable here. The view was great, and we especially enjoyed the screened porch area. You could hardly be closer to Little River Falls. Communication with Misti was perfect and management was very accommodative. Overall an outstanding experience.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful home and host! We intend to visit again in the spring or summer. Absolutely stunning location and property!

What a fantastic place to stay for a weekend getaway! Everything was as expected, and Misti was great with communication. Lots of space, a well-stocked kitchen and comfortable areas outside made this some place we would absolutely recommend.

I was so honored to be the first guest of the Christmas season. It was an amazing trip. So private, and the Christmas decorations were beautiful! I hope to be back for a longer stay next time.

What a treat to call this spacious and well-appointed home ours for a weekend of leaf watching! The home allows for private space while also encouraging gatherings on the porch, sharing a meal, and catching a televised football game. A space for everyone and everything surrounded by natural beauty.

I felt like I was a visiting a friend! Misti was so easy to communicate with and was very helpful. And the house was beautiful inside and out. We loved the art work, pottery, and really all the decor! The exterior is gorgeous as well as the drive up to the house. But the porches were our favorites. Nobody wanted to leave the house the whole time we were there. Our group has already said they want to come back next year. Thank you for a Peaceful Retreat!

We enjoyed our fall getaway to this property! We loved the screened porch with the swing bed and fireplace! Perfect for the cool fall evenings! Great kitchen setup for cooking several meals, and the Green Egg grill and fire pit were nice! The decor was very cozy and inviting and we loved all the artwork and the peaceful setting! We hiked to Little River Falls (easy), Lost Falls to Laurel Falls (also easy but more roots and rocks on the trail) , and Desoto Falls bottom and bluff overlook(moderate because of the rocky areas on the trail). We found some great little restaurants in Fort Payne and Mentone! Also we got to pick apples just a few minutes outside of Mentone. We recommend the Hatter Cafe, Mentone Market, and Little River Orchard. We had a great time exploring the area and relaxing with our family at the Canyon Hideaway Cottage! Great communication! A super relaxing and well decorated place! The reading nook and also the swing bed were favorite spots!

Beautiful scenery and the screened in porch was the center of our socializing! So comfortable and the weather was perfect!!

A Magical Weekend Escape in Mentone! We took a quick weekend trip to Mentone to recharge, reconnect, and truly unplug—and Canyon Hideaway Cottage was the perfect sanctuary. After browsing countless listings, this gem stood out immediately: a stunning gated retreat nestled on two private acres. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted. The home features three incredible porches, including a massive screened-in one with a cozy wood-burning fireplace, a dreamy bed swing, classic rocking chairs, and even a Big Green Egg for grilling. It’s perched right on the brow, and even in the summer, the views were breathtaking. Inside, the cottage is immaculate and beautifully curated, with local artwork adding charm and character to every room. The kitchen was impressively stocked, and the welcome basket was packed with thoughtful surprises that made us feel instantly at home! Just book it. You won’t be disappointed!

Such a fun girls' trip to this home. The cabin was very cozy and well appointed. We especially liked the screen porch. It was the perfect place to begin and end our day. The location was very beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Lots of hiking and exploring super close by. Restaurants were a little further away. Next time we will come prepared to eat in more. But Ft. Payne was close by for groceries, etc. I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a private, peaceful home base to explore the beautiful area.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed zip lining, hiking trails at DeSoto and Red River Canyon, climbing the boulders at Citadel, eating at Southern Harvest, and coming back to this beautiful cottage to soak up more time with our family. Plenty of room and space for everyone on our trip, everything we needed in the kitchen, great selection of books to enjoy, and best of all, the screened in porch! We absolutely loved the fireplace and swingbed on the screened porch on these cool nights! We hope to return to Canyon Hideaway again!

Canyon Hideaway Cottage is our favorite place to stay in the Mentone Area. We have stayed in other properties of Peaceful Retreats and as always they are wonderful. Easy to check in. Suggestions for activities during your stay. Always clean and fully furnished. We have stayed several times and look forward to the next time!

This was our third time we have stayed at Canyon Hideaway Cottage and we loved it. Very peaceful, relaxing and great views. The cottage was very clean like it always has been and we enjoy the large den just off the kitchen and the screened in porch with plenty of chairs and large porch swing. Both these areas are great gathering locations.

Went to many different places and saw some amazing sights and plenty on Hiking.

This review may be a little late but wanted to be sure everyone knows what a wonderful time we had! This was our second stay with Peaceful Retreats in Canyon Hideaway Cottage. It did not disappoint! Everything was perfect and our family had the very best time! They always go above and beyond with lots of extras! You walk in to find a precious gift basket with all sorts of special things in it. A couple of us even got to enjoy a complimentary great breakfast at The Hatter Cafe! You should definitely check them out! Always a delicious meal and such a cute place! Our family loves staying here because they have room for all of us to fit comfortably with together time in the big family room and have very comfy beds! The kitchen is amazing and has everything needed to cook all our meals and snacks. We also love the porch bed and enjoy sitting in front of a fire on the porch as well. They are conveniently located to several playgrounds our grandkids love to go to and very close to some beautiful falls. Thank you for a very fun and relaxing getaway twice now for our family! We have made the best memories at Canyon Hideaway Cottage!

Great home nestled off the road. Love the porches and how easily accessible it was to little canyon and Desoto state parks.

This was our 2nd time to spend Christmas with family at this lovely home! Everything is top notch from the decor and furniture to how clean it is! We got to meet the couple who cleans and they are so nice! Misti is great to deal with for all of the arrangements, check in and out is really easy. We’re coming back!

House was perfecf for my family! The views are incredible. We even saw bears. Kitchen is fully stocked and my mom who is handicapped had no issues at all. Misti is the BEST!

We had to cancel our Disney trip for this week due to Milton. So last minute my husband booked this place with Misti. Canyon Hideaway Cottage more than exceeded my expectations! My family of nine had a wonderful relaxing time. We all had plenty of room in this cozy place to relax. We enjoyed hanging out on the porches, using the outdoor fireplace and solo, cooking meals in the well stocked kitchen, and placing board games around the large dining table. All of that was so great and relaxing, but the best part was a short five minute drive away. The Little River Canyon and hiking through the woods to the swimming holes. We all cold plunged in the Little River and enjoyed the most amazing scenic views at the hippie hole. I truly believe we all enjoyed this better than we would have Disney! Being in beautiful Alabama nature was just soul healing!! We will be back 1000%!
