BLUE WHALE on St. George Island, Florida

My husband, our dog, and I stayed at Blue Whale for two weeks, and it was a wonderful experience. In our opinion, Blue Whale is one of the best values on St. George Island.The location is perfect; there's a beautiful view of the ocean and direct beach access right across the street. It's also within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and everything you need, while still being far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet.The house is older, but it is comfortable, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a relaxing two-week stay. The bed was especially comfortable, and the kitchen had everything necessary for preparing meals.Mr. Matthews, the owner, was outstanding. He was always available, responsive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We truly appreciated his hospitality and attention to detail.We would definitely stay at Blue Whale again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable, and perfectly located beach cottage on St. George Island.

This cottage is one of the older homes on the beach and is very quaint, with a personality of its own. The cottage was ready for us before check-in, and the owner, John let us know right away. We spoke with John a few days before leaving for our trip he let us know about the cottage, and the rules of the property. He told us if we had any problems to give him a call and he would take care of the issue. On Sunday we did have an issue with the shower head, I called him and he had the issue fixed within a couple of hours. He was a pleasure to speak with and a man of his word. The price was right for what we were looking for!

Location was fantastic and the view was amazing. Mr. John was very easy to work with and communicated well.

The cottage is charming and has character. The location is great with easy access to the beach, shopping,and just going for a bicycle ride around town. Bikes provided by the host, John, who is very pleasant , personable, and helpfull.

What a beautiful place! We had a wonderful time at the Blue Whale! Dog friendly, location is perfect, hot tub was great and John was the best host! He was great to communicate with! We’ve been to SGI multiple times and no one has been better to work with than John!

John was the best. He made sure we had everything we needed. Very helpful and friendly. My husband and I loved our stay. It was awesome. The beach was so close and I was even able to swim some. Great fishing. Everything was close to the house and we had a wonderful bike ride. We will definitely be back. The house was very clean and comfortable. This was my third time at The Whale! I absolutely adore John’s place! The inside is very comfortable and clean. The A/C works great - stays very cool! The beds are super comfortable and the new fridge makes plenty of ice! The hot tub is my favorite feature where you can relax after a long day at the beach and gaze at the sky filled with stars. The location is awesome - very close to restaurants and the grocery. Also, a walking path to the beach across the street is a nice plus! John is a lovely host and I am so thankful he shares his place at a very fair price. Looking forward to booking number four!

The Blue Whale was a great place to stay for my spouse and myself. The owner was great and super easy to work with! The house is definitely an older beach house with older house quirks but the owner was very upfront about that! The location is perfect…there is beach access directly across from the Blue Whale. Just a short walk and you are on the sand! It’s an easy walk to most of the restaurants and activities “downtown”.

The Blue Whale is my favorite place to stay on this island. I've stayed 3 years in a row now. Its location is unmatched at this price and it homey and lived in and comfortable. The hot tub and deck are so much fun and it's got everything you need down to a wagon to pull your stuff to the beach! Also, the owner is so communicative and will be right there if you have any issues (but you won't; it's paradise). Please don't book it so there will be more days available for me to come back! :D

The Blue Whale was perfect for our stay in SGI. It was conveniently located to everything in the area. John was very helpful with any questions or needs that we had. The place has everything you need to make it feel like home. John knows it needs some TLC and lets you know upfront, but I am easy to please and you just can’t get those views at most rentals. The house also had a portable ice maker and we didn’t have to buy one bag of ice while there, which is unheard of at the beach. Also, the private area in front of the house is so secluded. We felt like we had the beach to ourselves anytime of the day. I could go on and on but we loved our stay and will hopefully be back in the future! Thanks John!

The blue whale is exactly what you need if you’re looking for a cozy getaway. We loved the fact that it was built in the 90s! This is a must stay!!

Great location! Adorable cottage. Exceptional host. Small hiccup during stay, no fault of anyone’s, the own was amazing in handling the issue. Very responsive and on top of things!

We definitely had a good time at the blue whale the owner was very friendly and very helpful on any questions we had, loved the dart board we had a great time playing, air conditioning was great, and everything was as described.Would definitely recommend and I plan on staying again Lord willing!

My husband and I spent a week at the blue whale for spring break. What a fabulous time we had! The location couldn’t be better and most days it felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. Anytime we had a question or concern John was immediately on it and was so helpful. We cant wait to go back!

Yes, the house has some quirks. It's a bit wobbly but we all found it charming. John is SUPER communicative and welcoming. He was available during our stay for any questions or concerns. PROS:Super comfortable bedsAC works brilliantly plus there are ceiling fans and windows units if you need moreLocation is unbeatable. You can walk to all the restaurants and shops. TVs with many streaming services; you don't have to login with your own account. And Direct TV for love. The Rec room was a great addition for my teenager and the when we had to take work zoom callsCONSJohn did a good job detailing that the house has been well-loved I found it challenging to get up and down the stairs to the Captains loft, so we slept in the Queen bed on the main floor and let the younger adults take the loft.Great location, comfy beds and AC are my priorities and this filled the bill!

This place is great! It definitely has charm to it. The location can’t be beat. You can easily walk to all the restaurants and shops from here. The beds were more comfortable than my bed at home. Thanks for a great stay!

Loved every minute can't wait to go back! hot tub was hot perfect weather bikes were a plus didn't get to use the kayak but hope to next time did go on a Sunset Cruise to little St George Island I had never been and it was amazing

Location! Location! Location! Cute cottage steps from the beach with everything you need. Property is exactly as described and John is very easy to speak to. No frills just beach…as it should be! Will stay here again.
