Al's Nest a Quaint 1 Bedroom Cottage in Mentone

We booked Al's Nest for our anniversary. We enjoy finding towns along state parks to go hiking. It is everything we could have asked for. Nice, quiet and private location. It borders the Little River Preserve and there is a trail that goes behind the cottage down to the river. We missed the final turn on the trail to the river and made our own way down the first couple of walks. We eventually got it right and it was easily to follow. It is a little trail and you have a steep area to go down to the river. But that is everywhere we went along the river. Definitely watch out for snakes. We came across two on the way back one afternoon. A rat snake and a timer rattle snake. The cottage was very clean and had most everything you would need. Very cute decor. We would hike during the day, come back and build a fire in the fire pit and just relax until we grilled our dinner on the charcoal grill. After that we would soak in the hot tub. Perfect evening! Terri was very open with communication and she responded quickly. When we checked in there were pastries left for us to enjoy. Overall we loved our stay. We will definitely be back.

This has been the best rental we've ever stayed at! The property was gorgeous, absolutely loved the hot tub and fire pit and really enjoyed the hiking on the property to the river. We will definitely be staying here again in the near future!

Everything was very nice. It felt secluded even with other houses nearby. We had a welcome committee of two friendly dogs our first night.Beautiful area.

Very neat and clean and quiet mountain getaway. Hot tub stayed consistent temperature all the time. Outdoor fire pit area was relaxing day or night. Covered parking for vehicle was a Plus. Overall great place! Will definitely come again.

The cabin and all it offered exceeded our expectations! We are already discussing a return in the spring or early summer. I can’t say enough about the fireplace, or the hot tub, or the wonderful cabin itself. The property was definitely a part of the charm, including the fire pit. We plan to return!

Wonderful Host! Very private and away from the hussle and bussle. We were greeted with fresh danish and information of things to do in the surrounding area. Loved exploring the property and hiking the trail down to little river. Already planning our next trip.

Al’s Nest was exactly what we were looking for when we booked our anniversary trip! The location was absolutely perfect. Very close to Desoto State Park and just a short drive from Ft. Payne, Al. We were able to enjoy the hot tub and listen to the Christmas CDs, and we enjoyed the decor and sweetness of the cabin. The bed was very comfy and the water was hot. The kitchen had many more appliances than we were expecting and we were glad they did! We will absolutely recommend to our friends and family and will stay again if we have the opportunity.

Our favorite stay in Mentone! We absolutely love this cabin. It’s just perfect for a couple! Comfortable bed, cozy practical kitchen and dining area and living space with a fireplace! Nice closets and storage. This always is nice so that your things aren’t in the way. It is in a great location far enough out to be perfectly peaceful and quiet, but close to activities around the area. We live the screened porch and hot tub. And aldi the outdoor seating space. Shower is small but worked fine for us. There is a nice big laundry room with full size washer and dryer. The dryer was a little ornery, but I think the owners are going to replace it. This is our second time to stay here. We will always look for availability for Al’s Nest when we come to the area.

Perfect little getaway for our anniversary weekend. Very clean and cozy. The Fall decor was so cute. Loved being able to get in the hot tub at the end of the day or sit by the firepit. Our host also left us some delicious muffins and treats. The property isn't too far away from Fort Payne or the restaurants and shops in Mentone. We enjoyed getting to hike to Desoto Falls, and at the end of our trip we ate our lunch at Brow Park with a beautiful view from Lookout Mountain.

This property lived up to all positive reviews that I read about before booking it for our stay. It was very clean, cozy and smelled absolutely wonderful when we walked in the door. The directions were spot on to Google maps. It was quiet and comfortable. I plan on booking it again at a later date. And the homemade blueberry muffins were very delicious. Many thanks to our host for the great job they did on this place.

The perfect property for us. The cottage is cozy with charming, thoughtful delights sprinkled throughout to complement the season. The property is private and serene, and the view of Little River from the end of Al’s Nest trail is breathtakingly beautiful. We ventured into Cloudland Canyon as well on this visit and lucked up with sunshine and just enough snow on the ground make for an especially magical hike. Happy adventuring!

The property and the cabin are very well maintained. This was our second time staying at Al's Nest and it was just as wonderful as the first time. Terri and Todd are amazing hosts! This will be our go to vacation spot for me and my husband.

Al's Nest is, as always, the highlight of our trip to the mountains. Close enough to everything to enjoy an afternoon outing. Secluded enough to get away from it all. Comfortable, clean, and cozy.

We enjoyed a mini vacation at Al’s Nest outside of Mentone, Alabama. The cabin is truly in the woods and just the right size for a couple. The fire pit is very nice, and the kitchen well equipped. If you book, be aware it is on a county road, but a dirt road. We thought surely our GPS was off, but it wasn’t.

We have stayed in this area each fall for almost ten years and this is our favorite cabin ever. It was clean and had everything that we needed. The kind sized bed was like sleeping on a cloud, the wood burning fireplace was so nice and the hot tub was really one of the best that we have experienced.
