Stayed Oct 11, 2025The cabin is exactly as described. Its a comfortable and cozy stay with a beautiful view. The host required us to sign additonal documents about a week or two after he had already accepted our reservation and taken payment. If the host wants an additional off platform lease agreement, he needs to say that before accepting payment and confirming the reservation. The hot tub works great and the host gave us lots of recommendations for places to visit in the area. The knob to turn on the shower broke during our stay and the host came to fix it within a day which we appreciated. Overall a good stay. Just need to be transparent and ethical with booking/business practices.

Stayed Aug 30, 2025Amazing!We've stayed in dozens of VRBO or AirB&B properties but I think this is probably our favourite. The property is so welcoming and comfortable. It feels very light and airy while still being warm. The house is stocked with all the necessities including tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as things like oil, spices and pastas etc. There are a couple of shops on the road in or larger stores in Selfoss to grab your provisions. We enjoyed breakfast on the decking overlooking the gardens. Beautiful views all around, Even managed to catch the Aurora Loved every minute of our stay, were already planning to return. Thanks so much to our hosts.

Stayed Jul 8, 2025Great place for access to the Golden Circle attractions. It’s nice to come back after a day of touring to a house that feels like home rather than a motel room or a camper van. Very comfortable and very well equipped. You need only stop at the grocery store and buy groceries. Anything and everything you might need is already there waiting for you to use. The heated ceramic floor and the bathroom was wonderful. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening was a perfect way to wind down from the today’s travel.

Stayed Jun 13, 2025This summer house was a great home base to stay in while exploring Iceland. David was very communicative and this little home-away-from-home was a good place to relax after long days exploring.

Stayed Apr 11, 2025David is a great host and this cottage is in the perfect location for exploring the Golden Circle, Reykjavík and the surrounding areas. The cottage was welcoming, very clean, cosy, well stocked and had a large outdoor space. It is close to the Kerid crater and a short drive from Selfoss where there are various shops and supermarkets. The hot tub was certainly a welcome sight after long days exploring this incredible country! We ventured as far as Vik on day trips which is around 2 and a half hours a way, would highly recommend a Katla ice cave tour. Reykjavík can be reached in around an hour, we used Elding for our whale watching experience. They are more focussed on sustainability and gave us free tickets to visit again as we didn’t see much (it was also quite rough). We visited many hot springs in the area. The secret lagoon is great value (particularly for a family) but we also loved Laugarvatn Fontana and Hrunalaug baths, all set in beautiful environments. We also recommend the walk up to the thermal river at Hveragerði. Be warned though it is a good hours walk and is quite strenuous. We saw so many spectacular waterfalls (David will recommend a few) but our favourites were Brúarfoss, Kvernufoss (which you can walk behind), Faxafoss and Urriðafoss. Not many of these are visited by the big tours so are a bit quieter but still spectacular. All in all we had an amazing holiday which was made better by having David’s cottage as a base.

Stayed Oct 5, 2024Stayed with my husband for half week at this wonderful cottage. Location was perfect for day trips. We enjoyed the golden circle, the Tomato cafe, and relaxing at the cottage in the evening. We cooked breakfast and dinners there, used the hot in after hikes. We were lucky to have great conditions to see northern lights every night. Would highly recommend staying here and we hope to be back.

Stayed Sep 8, 2024We completed two bucket list items: visiting Iceland and seeing the northern lights. The cottage was the perfect base for exploring the Golden Circle and some of the south coast. David was very responsive when we had questions and check-in was a breeze. We were even able to check in a little early which was nice. The beds are comfortable with dark shades for the windows and the bathroom has a heated floor which was an unexpected bonus! The backyard is large and beautiful with a short putting golf course. We don't play, but we walked around, enjoying nature. The hot tub was nice after days of hiking & walking. On 2 days I spotted a Rock Ptarmigan out the window, and saw other birds I didn't identify for certain (I'm a casual birder!). The neighborhood was very quiet, and night time was super dark for taking great aurora and star pictures. I would definity recommend this to those seeking a quiet countryside getaway. Selfoss is not too far and has groceries, gas and a cute downtown shopping/restaurant area. We were sad when it was time to leave.

Stayed May 19, 2024This 2/1 cabin is situated in a small private community and offers everything that our two couple party needed on our exploration of Southwest Iceland. The cabin... - Small and efficient in a quaint European way. - The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well-appointed, seating was fine for catching up on some TV after a long day hiking and exploring. - With 4 adults the hot water tank was maybe a little small... but that just motivated us to get up early and shower first or second. - There is a Washing machine but no dryer... check under the beds for a drying rack. - We never got a chance to use the hot tub but it looked nice. Community... - Gated, quiet, and very pleasant. We stayed at this cabin for 5 nights and only saw one or two other cars drive through. Central Location... - Being about an hour out of Reykjavik it is easy to get to. - It is quiet and a little remote, offering piece and quiet, and awesome views. - The town of Selfoss is only about 20 minutes away and has grocery stores, restaurants, and other amenities. - Within an hours drive you can easily get to Gysier, Gullfoss, Secret Lagoon, Turf house, Caves of Hella, Thingvellir National Park, Kirid Crater, several options for horseback riding, and a bunch more sites... including two must-do restaurants Friðheimar and the Farmers Bistro. - You can also get to Vic, the Black Beaches, Ice Caves, Glacier Hikes ... all within about two hours.
