Set on the Market Place and dating back five hundred years, Red Lion Corner has the best views of one of Suffolk’s most famous Tudor buildings: the Lavenham Guildhall. Full of character, the house has wood beams and a stunning feature fireplace with exposed brickwork. At the back, the breakfast room looks onto the quiet and well-stocked garden, where you can sit out for a drink or meal.

The house is made up of 3 floors, and has 3 bedrooms, a large dining room, cosy living room, and a breakfast room next to the smaller but well-equipped kitchen. Given the wonderful location on the market place, the house is amazingly quiet and spacious inside. NB: the steps up to the top floor are steep.

Lavenham is accessible by train and bus, and there’s much to do and see in and around the village without a car. Market towns Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury with their museums and galleries are within easy bus reach, also Long Melford, Cavendish and Clare. With a car, you can explore more lovely villages such as Kersey, drive to the Stour Valley Path for a walk, visit Constable Country, or spend a seaside day at Southwold, Aldeburgh or Frinton.

In Lavenham itself, and all within 5 minutes’ walk, you can take a guided tour of the village, or visit the Guildhall, Little Hall and famous wool church. Film buffs will look for locations from Harry Potter, Lovejoy, Barry Lyndon and The Witch Finder General. Recreational shops include galleries, antiques, bookshop, clothes shops, spa and beauticians. Food shops include a traditional baker, butcher, grocer and Co-op open until late, with a cash point. There’s a weekly fresh fish van, and a monthly Farmer’s Market. You can also enjoy a variety of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and weekly fish and chip van, and not least, visit the Airman’s Bar at the Swan Hotel, which has relics of the presence of the USAAF during WW2.

We loved our stay, the cottage was lovely, but VRBO were useless. I booked through them, but inadequate information was available about the property, and your communications with cottages.com, who I eventually found out were lead letting agent, was terrible. Your systems didn’t speak to each other and I constantly got messages from you saying that my email was incorrect.

This was our second visit to the house, as we returned for the Lavenham Literary Festival. It’s a beautiful home, larger than it looks in the pictures, with a very cosy sitting room. We will be back!!!

It’s an absolute gem. Lovely house and very nice well tended garden. Everything you need is there. Nothing wanting. Would go there again and again.

Absolutely amazing, just come back from a three night stays, thoroughly wowed by the cottage and location. It’s very quaint and in keeping with the local village. The food in the local pubs was simply delicious - will definitely be booking to go again Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely stay at red lion corner. Mark and Sarah were so accommodating and answered all our questions pre trip. There was a ton of room for 6 adults, multiple places to eat and lounge, a lovely garden and it's situated in a great part of town. We'd love to go back again in the future Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
