Stayed Feb 20, 2026The location in Helmsley was really convenient particularly the footpath just behind the house which came out at the market place in a liitle over five minutes. There are plenty of excellent cafes and independant shops in the centre of town together with a reasonable choice of pubs and restaurants.Hemlsley itself is ideally placed for visiting National Trust and English Heritage properties as well as trips to the coast. We found that a drive to Thirsk to catch the train into York was a stress-free way to visit the city.We would certainly recommend 'The Garth' .

Stayed Jun 17, 2025A very comfortable and warm house, with its own drive for parking and a private back garden. The location was very quiet, but only 5 mins walk into the town centre.

Stayed Apr 18, 2025Lovely cottage in a quiet location but close to the amenities of Helmsley. The cottage was comfortable and had everything you would need for a short stay. Helmsley is a delightful village/small town with lots of excellent eating options, many independent shops, a castle, Duncombe House, woodland walks and a short drive to other places of interest in North Yorks. I wouldn’t definitely stay at The Garth again.
