Choose your spot in the lounge/diner and feel instantly transported back in time thanks to the stylish antique furnishings, solid oak mantelpiece and internal cottage doors. A cosy spot on the sofa is ideal after a long day, while the flickering wood burner helps to nurse chilly toes. Take on cheffing duties in the well-equipped kitchen with everything needed to experiment with flavours. Or fire up the BBQ for a night of burgers, sausages and glasses of Pimms in the fully enclosed courtyard garden. Treat yourself to a long soak in the claw-foot bathtub on the first floor before putting on your comfiest pyjamas and taking your pick from one of two elegant bedrooms.

The unspoilt seaside of Snettisham Beach (2.5 miles) gives ample space for relaxing on the coast, lounging in the sunshine, dipping in the sea and viewing wide varieties of birdlife at Snettisham RSPB Nature Reserve. If the children are begging you to take them out for the day, jump in the car and meet the animals, feed the lambs, and go on pony rides at Snettisham Park (1 mile).
