This Maine summer cottage on Bailey Island sits on a high bluff overlooking the ocean. First bought by great, great grandparents on their honeymoon trip, it has been in the family for over 125 years. The bedrooms are beautiful, the dining room is large and sunny, and the view is spectacular! Enjoy sitting on the covered porch with a cup of coffee in the morning, watching the sun rise “out of the ocean”, lobster men hauling their traps and sailboats passing by. Settle in for a lazyafternoon with a good book or explore the island, collect shells on the beaches, rent a kayak and skim along the waves or go fishing. The college town of Brunswick, just a 25 minute drive away, is great for antiquing and to see summer stock theater. Visit the Maine Maritime Museum in nearby Bath, go outlet shopping in Freeport or travel just beyond to browse Portland's historic waterfront. Dine at the island's restaurants or cook lobster at home. Fun for couples and great for families!

Spacious home overlooking the ocean. Wonderful views in all directions. Bedrooms are plentiful. All bedrooms with a view of the water. Kitchen great size to cook in... Hosts very responsive. Island also boasts some nice waking trails along the water.

Lovely setting and amazing views like a snapshot in time. True Victorian cottage of the 1890s. Great location. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely old house in a beautiful spot. The home has been in the same family for over 100 years, and still used frequently and lovingly maintained. It is rustic, but comfortable and the kitchen is extremely well stocked. We were greeted personally by the family on our arrival and they were available for questions.

Perfect oceanfront home on an island in Maine. Doesn't get any better! Lobster, kayaking, beach combing, sitting on the porch watching a beautiful sunrise.......wonderful.

What a great family experience. It exceeded our expectations. The pictures and descriptions are accurate and well representative of the property. The home is very well maintained and exceptionally clean. We were comfortable day and night. The yard is great for playing and set well back from the road so there was no need to hawk over the children. We loved the island and surrounding areas. It is a wonderful place to just be. We read, did puzzles, played games, and climbed countless rocks. We recommend this home highly to family's. It easily accommodated our family of five and another.

We fell instantly in love with this house. From the moment we entered we were in awe of the well-preserved old-time feel of the place. And throughout the week we continued to find little details both in structure and decor that we found so interesting. The home is as it was, yet has the modern touches where needed for completely enjoyable stay. This is an old place, and yet it is kept up so well, it was super clean. There are so many cozy spots to relax, and the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen looks unassuming, but is completely stocked with everything you could need. The outside amenities were also incredible - the view, the porch, and the large lawn area (perfect for lawn games). The owners were also very communicative and helpful. We had a wonderful stay at the Ocean Bluff cottage, and would rent it again when we would like a quiet vacation. We tried too hard this time to keep the kids busy and felt we drove too much, so next time we bring kayaks...

Mainstay is a wonderful house. 4 Queen or king sized beds/bedrooms, plus 2 other rooms with 3 small beds. Just an incredible place to be, fantastic ocean views, almost constant cooling summer breeze, due to the combination of it's high location and being directly between Mackerel Cove and the ocean. 2nd year there and hope to repeat next year. This is the epitome of a Maine summer cottage on the ocean.
