This 2 bedroom / 2½ bath penthouse, located right in the heart of the historic city center, offers luxury living and stunning panoramic views. Conveniently located on Calle Larga and perched atop the bank of the beautiful Tomebamba River, the apartment features breathtaking views of the city, the mountains, and the river, from the living area and balcony, as well as the private rooftop terrace.

*** Perfect Location ***
We are right on the heartbeat street of Cuenca’s El Centro Historic District – Calle Larga – and only four blocks from Parque Calderón, Cuenca’s main square. It is an easy stroll to the city’s finest restaurants, galleries, markets, shops, museums, and the attractions that Cuenca is famous for. Just a block away is the famous Mercado 10 de Agosto, filled with inexpensive fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish, with lots of mouthwatering food booths upstairs.

The apartment is also only a few minutes away from the El Vergel neighborhood where you’ll find SuperMaxi, a modern supermarket, two small malls, cinema, and the newly remodeled Parque de la Madre. The large Mall del Río is a short taxi or bus ride away.

*** Exquisite Furnishings ***
This elegant penthouse is newly constructed and is fully furnished with modern furniture, high-speed fiber optic internet, and two TVs. Excellent security with electronic key-card access to the main entrances. This apartment is the top floor of the building, and is located far enough back from the street, so it is quiet, with minimal street noise.

Throughout the penthouse are beautiful marble floors and all marble/granite counter tops. The apartment features top down / bottom up window shades in all rooms, including blackout shades in the bedrooms.

Both the living room and master bedroom feature large-screen 50” LED TVs. The master bedroom has a king size bed, while the second bedroom has a queen size bed. Both bedrooms have private en suite bathrooms, in addition to the guest bathroom.

The kitchen is fully furnished with modern appliances, dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker, cookware, and tableware. The laundry room has a full-size washer and dryer. The apartment has an office area with amazing views of the city.

The full bathrooms feature smart bidet toilets with advanced functionality, like those used in Japan.

An abundance of storage space, with closets all along the hallway, in addition to those in the bedrooms.

*** Serene Environment ***
The apartment occupies the top floor (139 m²/1500 sq. ft.) of the building, and includes a private rooftop terrace (25 m²/270 sq. ft.). The condominium has entrances from both Calle Larga, and from the lovely Río Tomebamba river walk below. The condominium is divided into seven small buildings, and is filled with beautiful trees, gardens, and courtyards, to provide a pleasant and serene atmosphere, a rare find in historic El Centro.

There is a beautiful promenade along the riverbank, just outside the lower riverside entrance to the condominium.

*** Convenient Transportation ***
There are bus stops one block away in either direction from the apartment on Calle Larga. Bus fare is only 25 cents. There is a constant stream of taxis right outside the door. This is one of the easiest places in the city to grab a taxi. Taxi fares normally run from $2 - $3 to most locations. The airport is just 15 minutes away, and $4 via taxi.

There are two secure and inexpensive parking garages within a block of the condominium.

*** Television and Internet ***
We provide high-speed internet service, and US-based live television programming. Our television service provides 100+ channels with live programming in English. We also provide a wealth of movies and on-demand television programs. These smart TV’s also offer other internet-based television and music, including YouTube, Spotify, and other services..

*** Computer Monitor and Docking Station ***
You can plug your laptop into our docking station to give you access to our 27 computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and color laser printer/scanner. You can also access the printer/scanner using Wi-Fi.

*** Welcome Guide ***
Our property manager will welcome you and provide you with all the information you need for a delightful visit. In the office area, you will find a “Welcome Guide”, which provides information and recommendations for restaurants, and places to visit, as well as other useful information. The “Welcome Guide” also includes instructions for operating the appliances.

Our penthouse is truly a one-of-a-kind in the El Centro area. It offers our guests the chance to experience Cuenca with a level of comfort, luxury, convenience, and ambiance that you won’t find anywhere else in Cuenca, Ecuador, a UNESCO World Heritage City.

*** Rental Terms & Conditions ***
1. Rent: Rent is non-refundable within 14 days of your arrival unless another guest can be found to take your place for the dates of your stay.

2. Number of Overnight Guests: Unless specifically documented in the rental agreement, the rental amount is for two residents only. A fee of $10.00 per guest per night must be paid in advance for each additional guest staying in the apartment. The total number of people staying in the apartment at any one time must not exceed four people. Payment must also be made 10 days in advance of the guest's arrival.

3. Security: We are required by our Condominium Association to provide the names of each person staying in our apartment and the dates of their stay, whether it is for all of the rental period or a shorter period. Also a copy of the passport or cédula of each guest must be provided to our property manager.

4. Smoking: Smoking is prohibited throughout the complex, including on balconies, and outdoor common areas. Guests must go outside the condominium complex, should they wish to smoke.

5. No pets.

6. Keys: You will be provided with two copies of keys to our apartment, as well as key cards for the main entrances. These must not be given to anyone else. All entrances must be locked upon entry and exit.

7. Residential Use: The condominium is part of a residential complex. Any other commercial and/or group usage (10 people or more) must be approved by the administrator.

8. Apartment Rules: Guests must follow the Apartment Rules that are listed in our “Welcome Guide” in the apartment. We will also supply you an electronic copy of the “Welcome Guide” when you make a reservation. The Condominium Association also requires that you sign a copy of the rules.

9. Security Deposit: After inspection of the apartment, unless damage has been done or items are missing, we refund the full security deposit within seven days to the account used to pay the deposit.

    We received outstanding service and support from the moment we reserved the perfect property in Cuenca. The property is a true luxury in the oasis and in a perfect location near the river and within walking distance to all the major sites of Cuenca. Bruce is a hands on manager and owner who provided a modern, luxurious beautiful home for us to stay. We felt very lucky to be here because of the beautiful views and the modern conveniences that is supplied in the penthouse. Everything about the condo and his support greatly exceeded our expectations. We learned more about the city and the best restaurants to go because of his well-organized book and frequent emails or things to explore in Cuenca.     The place is beautiful!! Close to restaurants, transportation and museums. Had breakfast several times on the balcony overlooking the river. We met the property manager, Cecilia, when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the property and how everything worked. The owner, Bruce, kept us informed of area events via email. Bruce provided a guest guide in the condo - it provide EVERYTHING. Instructions on how every item in the condo worked and what restaurants were open on Sunday/Monday. This made vacation planning so much easier. I can't say enough good things about this place. There was a care package of coffee, wine and snacks when we arrived. The whole place was spotless. I'm already planning my next trip and am hoping that Bruce's place is available.!!!!

    I recently stayed at this apartment during my trip to Cuenca, Ecuador, and it was absolutely perfect in every way. The location was ideal—just a short walk to the historic center, yet tucked away enough to enjoy peace and quiet. The apartment was spotless, modern, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay, including a fully stocked kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, and a cozy living area.What really made the experience special was the host’s attention to detail and warm hospitality. They provided excellent local recommendations, were always available for questions, and made check-in a breeze. Waking up to the view of Cuenca’s rooftops and surrounding mountains was a daily highlight.I highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Cuenca—whether you’re there for a few days or a few weeks. It felt like a home away from home and added so much to my experience in this beautiful city.

    Las Casas del Nogal is truly a gem! It's perfectly located in the historic center of the city, (just steps away from Nómadas, a lovely little Venezuelan restaurant with the best in-house freshly baked bread!) right on Calle Larga, and yet is somehow a completely quiet and peaceful getaway with gorgeous views of the city and the surrounding mountains. The sliding glass doors to the balcony open up two widths so that it feels like the entire living room is outside, and the terrace on the roof offers 360 views of the entire city.The penthouse is beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. Bruce and Cecilia were both quickly responsive when we had a little battery issue with the safe. We could not have been happier with our stay here. There were bouquets of gorgeous fresh flowers, wine, and chocolates when we checked in-- such a nice, welcoming touch!I teach online classes, and wanted to see how the connection would work via WhatsApp to the US, and I was very impressed that the 5G wifi even allowed me to teach from the rooftop terrace. The walnut tree the houses are named after is just off the balcony and has little bromeliads on the branches. We saw more than one colibrí, or hummingbird, which are much larger than ours in Austin.The mercado about a block up the hill offers all kinds of fresh fruits, and typical Ecuadorian meals for great prices. We definitely want to stay here again on our next trip to Cuenca. Love this place!

    Look no further. This place is centrally located. Markets, restaurants, all within walking distance. Penthouse is very clean, the view from the patio is breathtaking. The property manager and owner were very responsive and helpful. If your visiting Cuenca and want to be close to everything, this is the place to stay.

    If you want the perfect place to stay for your visit in Cuenca, then you must rent this beautiful rooftop condo!!! If you go out the front door, you are in the old world historic UNESCO city. If you go down the stairs, you are along the Rio Tomebamba and will have the most scenic riverwalk ever…….flowering shrubs and trees, eucalyptus woods and then the two rivers meet and flow to the Amazon River!!, who could ask for more!!And over and beyond this, is the beautifully decorated modern apartment with your own private rooftop!!! You have a 360 degree view of the Cajas Mountains! The landlord is especially accommodating and the staff in the complex are wonderful. Everyone and everything makes this condo the perfect home away from home!! Do enjoy it!!

    This well appointed condo is in the ideal location in Cuenca. Out the front door you are in the beautiful historic district of Cuenca and out the back door, down the stairs and you are on the Rio Tomebamba walking path so start exploring! The modern condo is beautifully decorated and the rooftop provides 360 degree view of the Cajas Mountains. The landlord is extremely responsive and more than willing to please. This is our 7th year to rent here and that says it all! We highly recommend this condo as a vacation home!

    Looking for a place to stay for a week or 3 months, look no more. We stayed for 3 months and we look forward to coming back!! This apartment is in the perfect location to explore the old and new of Cuenca. Steps away from some of the most delicious restaurants and historic sights. After a day out you will step away from the hustle and bustle of the city into a serene and peaceful walkway filled with light fragrances of flowers as you make your way to your apartment. The apartment has all the modern amenities with plenty of space to relax. Head up to the private rooftop terrace with a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise, or perhaps an evening beverage to enjoy the sunset. Or just take in the panoramic view of the city that is yours to enjoy. Take a leisurely walk along the river or sit on the balcony and watch the Hummingbirds, Cuenca has so much to offer and during your stay, Nogal is the ideal place to call home.
