The quiet apartment is located in a chalet on the southern slope, 100 m above the 1030 m high-altitude Jaun. There are 2 parking places available. The small village is nestled in a charming Valley of the Fribourg Alps between the Gruyère - and Bernese Oberland. Unspoilt by crowds it offers the image of a historical unspoilt mountain village. The Chalet is an ideal starting point for hikes and mountain tours in warm season for the nature lover. Fresh mountain air, the sight of the pastures and mountains with varied alpine flora will throw away all your worries. Low noise of the remarkable Jaun falls protects your sleep. In the Cantorama, a little old church, you can enjoy classical and popular musical performances. Close to Jaun by car (approx. 8 km) you will find tennis courts and Spa. Free bathing can be done at Lake of Gruyère (ca. 15km from the chalet). For winter sports, all usual options are on-site and nearby.
Restaurants: Hotel/Restaurant Wasserfall in the village on foot in approximately 10 minutes away. Other drive restaurants after 10 minutes can be reached (Jaunpass, Im Fang, Charmey)
Walks: You can start walks and hiking tours directly from the Chalet. The hike routes are marked with signs, a map is not really necessary. Mountain climbs are possible up to 2100 meters.
Very popular is hiking to the Schwarzsee (one way ca. two and a half hours), to Chalet du Soldat (one way ca. two hours) or to the nearest city Charmey (one way ca. one and a half hours) but also other hikes are highly recommended.

New thermal baths are in Charmey (8 km).

A very modern 4-seater chairlift exists in Jaun since 2011. It opens up various hiking trails in the summer and brings you to beautiful views. It's also used for skiing in the winter (along with 3 other T-bar lifts) and tobogganing.

Property was exactly as described, and the views from the balcony are absolutely amazing. The chalet had every possible utensil under the sun - so if you're cooking, you'll want for nothing. The duvets and pillows could do with replacing as they were too soft for out taste - but might well be perfectly fine for others. The road up to the chalet takes a bit of getting used to as it's so narrow - but by day 3 we were driving up and down like we were locals. It's well situated for trips out - and it was quite surprising for us to learn that in Jean the language spoken was mostly German - but in the next village it was French. We drove out to Grindewald and took a cable car up First which was out of this world, and in the other direction went to the Gruyere spa - amazing also - and had a couple of runs out to Montreux. The roads are really easy to drive - but do watch out for the speed cameras - lol. We'll be back for sure!. :)

The chalet was fantastic and exceeded our expectations! The views are amazing and the location is within easy reach of so many great places. Mountain hikes are available from the front door! The chalet is a good size (family of 4) and very comfortable. Overall a fantastic stay.

Our party was two adults and two primary aged children. Property size was perfect for this. Amazing views and great location. Plenty of walking opportunities. Facilities were all as advertised. If it were not for the general expense of holidaying in Switzerland we would love to stay here again.

The PERFECT place to stay in Switzerland! It’s about half way between Lac Léman and Interlaken/Schilthorn, so that you can visit both with ease. It’s also very close to Gruyeres and Maison Cailler. And then there is the village of Jaun. Simply gorgeous! MUCH, MUCH better than staying in Charmey, Broc, or Gruyeres. In Jaun, you’re actually in the midst of the Alps. It’s a bit of a harrowing drive up to the chalet, but that’s part of the Alpine experience. You get used to it pretty quickly. And the view from the balcony - wow! And the sound of the waterfall! And the cowbells ringing throughout the day! Just an amazing experience. The chalet itself has a fantastic cabin-feel to it. Very cozy, but with plenty of space. We absolutely loved it! And we stayed there during the 2019 heat wave! That’s the beauty of this place. It’s built into the side of the mountain. So, everyday when we returned from sightseeing, this place was nice and cool inside - even with no A/C. Again, it’s just perfect in every way! Tips: - Small grocery in Jaun, larger one toward Charmey. - Amazing bakery in Jaun. - The Gastlosen hike up to Soldatenhaus is fantastic! (Not for the unfit. Take lots of water.) - Gruyeres Castle is fantastic, but Chillon Castle in Montreux is even better! - The beach in Lutry is nice and relaxing and the Buvette de la Plage has great food and beverages! - The vineyards around Lac Léman are gorgeous!

The Chalet was exactly as described, in fact it was actually a little bit bigger than I had envisioned it. It was easy to find with GPS, and well located to go hiking or sightseeing. We had a wonderful time, I would highly recommend it!

This property is wonderful and in a very accessible location. We were able to drive to Chamonix for lunch, easily get into Gruyeres to visit the castle, tour the Gruyeres Cheese factory, and go to the Callier chocolate factory in nearby Broc. Montreaux (Lake Geneva, Lac Leman) is a 45 minute drive. The view from the balcony is stunning, looking right down to the waterfall. You can sit on the balcony and hear cows with their bells softly ringing! The apartment is spacious and comfortable. It did not have a hair dryer, wood provided for the fireplace, or extra garbage sacks. The wood and sacks could be purchased. We also had to make up the beds, as linens were on the chair. From the main road, the road up to the apartment is a one vehicle lane, which is a little scary sometimes! You need to walk down two flights of stairs to access the apartment. There is a washing machine in the apartment and a drying rack. Overall, we really liked the apartment and the location was wonderful.

I had a great stay at the chalet with my husband and 2 boys. Set on the slopes of Jaun, the view from the balcony was stunning and made breakfast or dinner special. Good facilities, everything we needed, photos were exactly as it was in real life with a really lovely spacious living area. Great base for accessing the hiking and walks in the surrounding mountains straight from the door.
