The location was perfect, and the backyard opened to a creek with a beautiful view. Deer around everywhere. We had everything we needed, and the host greeted us and took us on a little tour and was available for anything we might need. I would highly recommend!
This is the second time we have stayed here. It is a great location, appreciate the nice beds, and comfy. Love the stream that runs behind it. sounds amazing through the night. The couple that run the location have always been so nice and helpful. Also, plenty of space to have our trailer and truck and also turn around.
It was great to get away from the Texas heat! We loved the patio and our guests the hummingbirds and the beauty of the mountains and forest. We spotted twin fawn with mom and dad mule deer. The house was quite comfortable and spacious. The kitchen could use more bake ware for casseroles and plastic containers with lids for leftovers. This is our 4th time in the Buena Vista area and it always is a memorable trip. Thank you for sharing this home!
The home is charming and the location is great if you want to stay close to St Elmo or the hot springs! A few things you might want to bring, extra towels, they provided one towel per person and a hand towel per bathroom. If you plan to bake anything in a baking dish, you might grab a disposable when you get groceries. Overall, great stay!
First of all, Brent and Diana are awesome managers, Fantastic cabin, great location, felt like home without all the stress, we will be back. Me, my wife and dog had a wonderful time exploring the mountain trails, hiking and off-roading, that are just right up the road. Tons of activities in nearby Buena Vista and Silida. A great week we will never forget. And I cant say enough how truly relaxing our stay was!
We got to the house and explored the rooms. The house is booked as a three bedroom, but when we went to the third bedroom in the basement, we were struck by an incredibly strong musty smell. No one wanted to sleep down there, so we had to share the two upstairs bedrooms. The mattress in the master bedroom was okay, but the mattress in the spare bedroom was rock hard. These issues would have been somewhat acceptable if it hadn't been for the very high price we paid. With the amount we spent, we were expecting a clean, pleasant smelling house and comfortable beds. We talked to the renter about the smell in the basement and she said it's a basement. I've been in many basements, and the smell in the basement of this house is extraordinarily bad.
We absolutely loved staying at the cabin. The location cannot be beat! Surrounded by tall trees, set off from the road by a large tree-filled meadow, and right along the banks of Chalk Creek—who could ask for more? We enjoyed sitting on the zero gravity chairs on the back deck, eating at the picnic table on the deck, roasting marshmallows at the firepit, and sipping our morning coffee on the front porch while deer walked by. We even saw a heard of mountain goats (including babies!) come to drink from the creek! Inside the cabin is just as lovely. Everything was super clean and it contains everything you could possibly need from a well-stocked kitchen to plenty of towels, pillows and blankets. We will definitely be returning!
We enjoyed our 4 night stay immensely. This property was just what we needed to slow down and just breathe. Quality time spent in pure tranquility.
Very restful trip to the hot springs
We had an overall great experience. Thank you!
The area was close and convenient to Buena Vista and Salida but far enough away to not be bothered with the hustle/bustle. The home is very comfortable and plenty of room for the family. We had 2 adults and 3 teens, there was plenty of room. Morning coffee and multiple meals on the back deck with the creek 20 yards away, horseshoe pit and fire pit provided much of the relaxing experience. Wood was cut, stacked and prepped for out and indoor fire places, all we had to do was light it. There were frequent visits from deer and mountain goats by the water and each evening 10-20 would gather in the meadow across the street. Hot springs, lots of hiking and a couple of ghost towns near by, all accessible without a 4x4 vehicle. Also, plenty of off-road 4x4 options very close by. A lot to do and a great place to relax afterwards.
Amazing property, WELL taken care of, big house, everything you could want. I had a brain fart and thought checkout was later than it was and owner of property was extremely understanding and nice, not rude in the slightest. Definitely would stay again overall best VRBO experience I’ve ever had
Perfect mountain cabin definitely worth a revisit
We had a lovely weekend at the cabin. It was very cozy and accommodating to our needs. The space and location were perfect. Thank you for everything!
My wife, dog, and I stayed here on a long weekend getaway for our anniversary. The house is clean, cozy, and perfectly located in a secluded wooded area with a creek in the back yard. We slept with the windows open and listened to the natural water sounds. We look forward to returning with our family.
This lovely log home sits near the gentle stream surrounded by aspen and deer. Once a private home, it is accomodating, quiet, great for groups. The nearby National Forest offers beauty and sport.
We had a great time with our kids and grandkids while there. The place worked out perfectly and wonderful the creek was right there as our one grandson loves to fish. Hiking close by and we went white water rafting and ziplining close by as well. Great place would highly recommend.
Very calm and relaxing. Big and roomy. The host are so nice you kinda wish they would hang out with you. They are very knowledgeable and can point you in any direction you want to go for fun and relaxation
Beautiful, relaxing escape in the mountains that provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. Close to Mt Princeton Hot Springs and Buena Vista offered great places to visit.
