Chalk Creek River House

This place was fully stocked w movies, games, and a wonderful area to explore the creek.

Beautiful and quiet cabin on a lot near the hot springs resort. All amenities were great! The views of the forest and river were serene. Overall a great stay!

Comfortable and cozy. Loved the sound of the water from the deck. No issues with lack of ac as the weather was great. Fire ban kept us from using the fire pit but the spot was lovely.

It is a lovely home in a good location

We had lots of space to spread out and many games to play. The property around the house was beautiful and we opened the windows and listened to the creek. The water situation in the house was an issue - it turned muddy the day before we left and we were unable to bathe!

We loved hanging out on the deck with coffee in the morning and for dinner in the evening, and listening to Chalk Creek.

We had plenty of room for our 5 people. Beautiful Mountain View’s. It was close to rafting, fishing, hiking, hot springs, and Buena Vista shopping! The property has river access and a place to make a fire by the river. Super cozy accommodations wits lots of games and books to explore! We will definitely book again!

This was the perfect home base for our guys fishing trip on the Arkansas River. It was on a beautiful property that offered seclusion on Chalk Creek yet was right in the middle of the fishing and outdoor action. Easy access to alpine lakes (we fished Hancock lake), the Arkansas River, as well as as short drive over to the South Platte to try our hand at the Dream Stream. This property was really comfortable and felt like home.

My girlfriend, brother, and my two sons truly enjoyed the Chalk River House during the July 4th week. The Buena Vista-Salida area is spectacular; even though I've been visiting Colorado for over 25 years, I had never seen the Arkansas River valley and the Collegiate Peaks, and we all agreed that we must return ASAP. The house itself was very comfortable and clean. Three full, private bathrooms and a half bath in the loft were key. The location next to a roaring creek, and the firepit by the creek, were special. A few minor things were lacking (e.g., a cutting board in the kitchen, girl shampoo in the bathrooms), but overall a wonderful and memorable vacation. We'll be back. Thank you. DAC

A very nice cabin situated in the mountains between Salida and Buena Vista. Check-in was easy and the property managers were highly available when we had questions. It's a cabin, so expect some dated elements (those showers are a tight fit...) but overall was very happy. Appreciated some of the small things, like the owners providing firewood for the fire pit and detergent for the on-site laundry. Also enjoyed the availability of various games, ping pong, pool table, and air hockey in the basement. The stream is a short walk down from the cabin, and you'll get to fall asleep to the sounds of rushing water. Overall, highly recommend. Just a warning for anyone staying in the loft: it gets HOT up there. The rest of the house was perfectly comfortable if you timed the opening of windows and closing of shades.
