Stayed Oct 4, 2024This cottage is well placed for exploring the west of Iceland, with Snaefellsness Penisula, Reykjavik and the golden circle route all within easy driving distance. Shopping and cafes can be found in Borgarnes, about 10 minutes drive away. It also provides a good view to the north and west in the event of Northern Lights. The cottage is well appointed, although it's worth noting the stairs are quite steep which may pose a problem for some. The only two drawbacks of the cottage 1) the double bed would benefit from thicker mattress toppper as it is made up from two single beds and 2) the final approach up a narrow gravel track means a 4x4 vehicle would be beneficial, especially in ice or snow.

Stayed Aug 22, 2025We had a wonderful stay at this home! It was conveniently located and what a stunning setting and view! Our host (Karl) was very responsive and kind. The place was well stocked with spices and such for cooking, too. The only warning I’d give is that the metal bedside lamps get HOT! My teen son accidentally burned his arm on his as he reached past to plug something in. When I checked things, the whole lamp was super hot. Just something to be more aware of if you are staying with kids. This home was fantastic and we’d happily stay there again in the future/recommend it to others especially if you plan to head to Sneafellsnes. Oh, and DEFINITELY try Hvammsvik Hot Springs if you are looking for a good nearby hot springs spa (go by Rt 1 not the unpaved mountain pass Google wants to send you by). It was a major highlight of our trip!

Stayed Sep 24, 2024This is a beautifully situated vacation rental. It has spectacular views, is less than 10 minutes drive to groceries and bakery in Borgarnes, and a good place from which to explore the Snaefellnes Peninsula and the Reykholt Valley. We were fortunate to have amazing Northern lights 2 nights of our 3 night stay. We enjoyed the hot tub and visiting the Krauma spa in the Reykholt Valley. The house is older but well built and stays nice and warm. A few things were a bit quirky - the bathroom does not have an electrical socket for the hair dryer or other appliances (there is one just outside the door). All bedrooms are up a somewhat steep flight of stairs, this could be a challenge for those with mobility problems. The half bath upstairs is a saving grace. We had planned to be 4 adults but our friends could not make it - it would be a bit snug though doable with 4 if you get along well - would not recommend more than 4 adults. If we are back in this part of Iceland would definitely look to stay here again.

Stayed Jul 28, 2024My husband and I visited Iceland for New Years 8 years ago and knew we would be back to experience it again during the summer . Fast forward to a magical trip with our two young daughters . The house was a wonderful location to explore and easy access to the town for groceries . The views were breathtaking any time of day . My daughters were sure they saw the little trolls behind the house . We will have many memories for a lifetime . We hope to be back again !

Stayed Jul 5, 2024Unbelievably beautiful location! The views are amazing in all directions. The house is comfortable and as per the photos - three bedrooms, large living area and two bathrooms (which was handy). Kitchen has extensive spice rack and Italian coffee pot as well as a drip coffee, so catering at home is a great option. Hot tub is an added bonus - allow a couple of hours to fill it up and then sit back and enjoy the sounds of the birds.

Stayed Feb 17, 2024We stayed in this house for a week in February to have the chance to see the northern lights and get to know Iceland. Unfortunately it didn't work out with the northern lights, so it was all the nicer to spend time in this beautiful house with our friends. It is beautifully situated, has enough space for more than 6 people, is very well equipped and the distance to the next larger town for shopping and eating out is not too far. Our host Karl always endeavoured to keep in touch with us and was always very friendly and kind to us. From all of us a very clear recommendation for this house and its host! Thank you and gladly again at any time! Karsten and friends
