Stayed Sep 21, 2021We enjoyed everything about our stay! Our host, Jeff, was most welcoming and thorough in preparing our beautiful cabin. You can easily get to Ely for supplies, yet have a true north woods Minnesota experience at the cabin on White Iron Lake. Highly recommended!

Stayed Sep 13, 2025My husband and I had the most amazing week here! Went fishing every day. Caught loads of fish around the lake. Even caught several off the dock, including a keeper walleye, perch, bass and northern! Sat and watched the northern lights from the dock one night. Grilled some steaks, went kayaking, saw lots of eagles and loons. Had a few campfires and enjoyed a cozy night by the fireplace. Jeff was great at accomodating anything we needed. He was quick to respond to emails. He was very respectful of our privacy. Enjoyed visits from Honzo the dog- very well behaved! We will definitely stay here again!!!!

Stayed May 20, 2025Cabin was cozy, clean, and eclectic. We enjoyed reading the varied books, magazines, and newspapers in the cabin. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. Enjoyed sitting on the dock and riding in the boat. My husband even caught a few pike. Cabin was conveniently located for taking care of business in Ely. Host, Jeff, was a pleasure.

Stayed Oct 31, 2024We arrived at 9:30pm on the agreed-upon day to find the cabin occupied. We texted the owner but did not hear back until after noon the next day, by which time we had been forced to make other lodging plans. He apologized, but too little, too late.

Stayed Oct 17, 2024Staying at Jeff's cabin was nothing short but great! It's cozy and rustic—but with a bath, running water, heat, and a kitchen. Perfect to bring kids and get them to enjoy the outdoors when it gets to cold for rent camping. (My 7 and 4 y.o. heard the wolves howl and caught a 30 inch Northern right off the dock.) Jeff is a great host who accommodates to all your needs. We'll definitely be back!

Stayed Sep 25, 2024We had a wonderful time. The cabin is even more charming and welcoming in person than in the photos. We are almost disappointed we had too many things to do during our time in Ely ... we would have loved to spend more quiet time in the cabin. It was clean and tidy, had everything we could have wanted or needed, and had a very homey feel. Thank you! We will be back!

Stayed Sep 22, 2024We had a wonderful time. The cabin is delightfully rustic but well appointed. So we were wanting for nothing and we’re entertained by all the many decorations. My wife and I loved the cabin. Enchanting is a good word. Jeff, the owner was wonderful. He lives nearby so he is available for questions and help. He gave us a boat tour of the huge lake and allowed us to use a canoe and a small boat with a 15 hp engine. We used the canoe multiple times and caught many different species of fish: pike, perch, blue gill, brook trout. The cabin is about 100 paces from the lake, so fishing is easy to do for just an hour or two, or the entire day. Jeff has a lovely camp dog too! Honsu is his name. Never barked. Overall, great stay. Thanks Jeff!

Stayed Aug 17, 2024Not necessarily private as others have stated, as owners home is close, but it is quiet and peaceful. My husband and I and our 10 year old fit perfectly in the small cabin which is beautifully decorated in an old fashioned, pre-technology style. We loved the boat, fishing off the dock, the fire pit, and exploring Ely!

Stayed Aug 9, 2024We really enjoyed our 3 nights at the WIH. Our young dog was occasionally over-distracted by Hanzo, Jeff’s dog, but Hanzo is a very good boy and we all did fine :) lived the water access and location near to Ely and the boundary waters. Will keep in mind for a later visit.

Stayed Jul 25, 2024We loved every single thing about our stay at Heritage Haus! The cabin itself is so charming and comfortable. Beautiful layout for a small cabin, a very comfortable bed and sleeping area, exceedingly well stocked kitchen area, excellent bathroom with shower, and a living area including two small beds that double as sofas. Plenty of nice linens for our stay. Gorgeous art and furnishings consistent with an older, well maintained cabin. There is lots of interesting reading material about the area and its history as well as many maps of the area. The host provided everything we might need for a comfortable stay; he said you only need to bring what you want to eat and drink, that was very accurate! The host is so accommodating, he was available and had lots of information but certainly not intrusive. His dog was a pleasure, especially since we had left ours at home (we flew to Minnesota). Outside there is a fire ring and seating for four as well as two barbecues and plenty of firewood. The cabin is located on the edge of Cold Iron lake, about a 50 foot setback and about a 10 minute drive from downtown Ely. He even offered us a boat ride around the lake when we didn't take advantage of the canoe or the motor boat. We would most definitely choose to stay here in the future!
