Escape the hustle and bustle of city life, in this peaceful woodland cabin retreat. Just 1 hour from Seattle, this very private and secluded cabin in the woods is just a ferry ride away. Your vacation begins with a short 20 minute ferry crossing from Mukilteo to Clinton. You can feel the stress of everyday life melting away the moment the ferry leaves the shore. The perfect quick get-away to celebrate an anniversary, honeymoon or writers retreat.

The kitchen is fully stocked with small appliances; coffee pot, waffle iron, blender, toaster, crock pot, pressure cooker, iron skillets and large stainless steel pots for soup. There are plenty of utensils. The pantry is stocked with many staples, such as flour, sugar, coffee, teas, honey, olive oil, etc. There is a hot water dispenser lever at the kitchen sink. Great for a quick cup of tea.

The cabin can sleep 2-4 people, but is ideally intended for couples. There is 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed together in the upper loft and a comfy sofa in the Living Room. The bedding is new and soft. Plenty of fresh linens and towels are provided. Small shampoos and hand soaps are provided as well. Take a soak in the claw-foot tub during your stay. Bubble bath is under the sink. When the windows are open, it feels as if you are bathing in the midst of the forest. The only onlookers will be “Willow”, the mama deer and her fawn “Fern”. Ideal for bird enthusiast, and hikers. The movie My Greatest Year with Steve Martin is a great comedy that documents birding on the island.

Sip on a cup of tea in front of a warm crackling fire, by the large indoor rock fireplace. A fire is always prepped and ready to light upon your arrival. There is wood stacked beside the 'little people door' outside the living room. There is a gas grill on the outside deck. You are welcome to use it, or you can cook over the open fire pit. Smores’ are especially yummy at night. There are modified golf clubs turned into marshmallow roasting sticks available.

In the evenings, listen for the owl hooting to its mate through the trees. The cry of a majestic eagle as it soars overhead is always a memorable sound. When you are hiking the property to the State Park, see if you can find their nest very high up in the tops of 80-120 ft trees. They are absolutely amazing! In the morning, enjoy the tranquility of the property with a cup of coffee out on the front porch, while enjoying the small birds having their breakfast from the feeders. And it’s always entertaining to watch the playful chipmunks in a game of hide-and-go seek.

A bit of the cabin’s history:
This charming Log Cabin on 4 acres was built in 1902 by a ship builder and his three sons, in the midst of an 'Old Growth Forest. They used it as a fishing cabin. There was a fire on the island in 1910, but most of the trees around the cabin, and the cabin itself were spared. It was heated with a rock fireplace and an old stove that was built out of an expandable steel barrel, which is still on the property. When we purchased the cabin in 2007, the fireplace was falling in and had to be dismantled and rebuilt. A wonderful rock mason from Yugoslavia rebuilt it. Most of the stones came from an underground spring discovered on the island at the Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor. There are still several tons of rock on the property, which we hope to someday use to add a downstairs bedroom. There is a photo album in the living room containing many original pictures.

We tried to keep within the period of the early 1900’s in the kitchen. The stove is a replica of an old wood stove, but is actually electric. The old sink came out of a house in Seattle that was being torn down. What used to be a ladder to the sleeping loft is now a set of stairs made from the wood of one large tree milled on the property. The old loft ladder is now in the bathroom. It can be used to store suitcases above the washer and dryer. We have chosen mostly antiques for the furniture. They have a special charm and each piece has a story. There are many interesting stories about the cabin and various people who have called it home.

We hope you are blessed as you stay in our little cabin.

This is an awesome find! We found the history-of-the-cabin book on the coffee table very interesting.

A true Pacific Northwest treasure and a marvel that it has been preserved, restored and artfully updated. A labor of love. The entire cabin was impeccably clean, comfortable and thoughtfully provisioned, and although the kitchen is not modern it was functional. WiFi was great. The fireplace worked beautifully and the firewood supply was a bonus! Nestled in a deeply wooded forest blessed with quiet tranquility and resident hummingbirds, there are plenty of nearby hiking, shopping and eating options. The sleeping quarters although comfortable are a bit of a challenge to access, and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or fear of heights. We loved our stay and plan to return.

The cabin is charming - comfortable and rustic but modern enough. The setting perfect - trees, deer, eagles, great horned owls, etc. The hosts responsive to questions. Most of all QUIET.

I guess the host does respond to your messages, but she's rude and unhelpful. There was a power outage, I know that's not her fault, but if I were renting out a cabin, and my guest told me the cabin is freezing cold, dark and without hot water due to a power failure, my response wouldn't be there's a fire place, all it takes is a match, mine would be oh, I'm so sorry. I'll have the caretaker come over and turn on the generator right away. We were willing to wait a little to see whether the power would come back on, just as the host suggested. When we were on our way back home after 3h of freezing, the host asked us whether she should have the care taker come over and turn on the generator. no apologies, no earlier mention of the existence of a generator. I checked the following morning and the power was still not restored....

This cabin felt straight out of a fairy tale. The cabin and the surrounding grounds were so gorgeous and quaint. We had an amazingly relaxing stay, reading books and cross stitching by the fire, beautiful baths in the clawfoot tub, and cozy sleeps in the loft. The cabin is located in a great spot, short drive to the cute towns nearby. We loved being so close to Greenbank Farms for the dog park, and Freeland for the Thrift Shop. It's also just a 20-30 minute drive from other great towns like Langley and Coupeville. We look forward to coming back for another stay!

We had an excellent stay. The 4 acres of land gave our dogs plenty of space for exploring off leash without neighbors and it gave us a tranquil environment for enjoying the beautiful wooded area. The house was a perfect size for us and our two dogs.with a couch and a couple of comfortable chairs downstairs and a queen and twin beds upstairs. The kitchen had many items to supplement those we brought. LuAnn quickly answered a couple of questions we had plus Leslie, the caretaker, was just in the neighborhood if needed. Exploring the Island for the first time was fun, especially after LuAnn gave us a lot of helpful suggestions on things to see and places to eat. I would highly recommend staying here.

The cabin is just absolutely amazing. If you wanna get away from the hustle and bustle of life and unplugged. This 100% is the place for you and your loved one to visit front porch swing and sitting area was a piece of heaven, watching the birds and chipmunks. unfortunately, there was a burn band, but they have a beautiful back area with a fire pit. I took a hot soaking bath and read a book. It was so restful and relaxing. Lastly, this weekend getaway was for me to propose to my girlfriend at deception and she sad yes. But, I had a ton of things laid out for this to all to happen. I had reached out to Leslie, the caretaker ahead of time. She helped me to set up the cabin with roses, champagne, photos of us. My fiancé was absolutely shocked coming in. Thank you so much for your help and we will not only be back but promoting your property to all our friends.

LuAnn's cabin on Whidbey is something out of a fairytale: nestled privately in the woods but close enough to small towns that everything we'd need was accessible. It rained on the last day and I woke up to the most calming pitterpatter on the roof. Whenever we step outside, there'd be a flurry of activity from woodland critters. I felt like a disney princess! We had a wonderfully relaxing visit. The cabin itself is extremely well-provisioned and satisfied my enthusiastic cook tendencies. It's clean, cozy, and has plenty of room for myself and my big 6'3 partner. From the big pile of firewood, the fresh flowers, the generous stock of towels and linens: all the little details made it obvious that LuAnn cares about her guests and this cabin. Caretaker Leslie was also very responsive and available for all questions.I also need to specially mention the view of the stars -- wow! No light pollution at all meant the sky was crystal clear for viewing. This is truly a special place.

We absolutely loved our stay in the cabin. The interior as well as the exterior was beautifully designed with so much attention to every detail it was easy to feel like you were lost in time, yet all the modern conveniences carefully placed and perfectly blended in with the 'turn of the century old west' vibe that the owners created. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. We will be coming back again.

such a lovely cabin in a great location. Nature has a way of washing cares off of us. A big owl was on a branch the last mornng wishing us a safe trip back home. We will come back. The Island was stunning, the food out was great, the hiking full of awe. Our dog did not want to leave and we agreed.

My partner and I had a wonderful, magical time at the cabin. It had everything we were looking for, from a fireplace, a beautiful bath, a well-stocked kitchen, and lush, gorgeous forest surroundings. We really enjoyed such a special experience and have almost only good things to say! Some of our favorite moments... finding chanterelles growing 30 feet from the cabin door and enjoying a candle and fire lit evening when the lights went out. My only pieces of constructive feedback: the main bed in the loft was a little uncomfortable after a few nights. And the mezuzah is on the wrong side of the door ;) Overall, we would recommend this stay to anyone, especially looking for a cabin experience where almost every need is thought of and considered. Five stars!

Everything about this place was exactly what we were hoping for. It allowed us to get away, disconnect and enjoy uninterrupted time with each other. We read books, sat on the porch, watched wildlife, made a fire outside and got great quality time. It's private, clean and feels like every inch of the cabin is made with love and purpose. The owner is an excellent communicator and was so kind whenever I reached out. She even mailed a special piece of jewelry we accidently left at the cabin. I have nothing but great things to say about this place
