If you’re into peace & quiet , this is the place !! We’ve stayed many times & at its sister cabin Frenwhe . Love both , anytime all season cabin . Also we love to bring our dog Chip , it’s a great place for long walks & birdwatching ! The river is so close, just a walk down the path , & there it is , Little River ! I could go on but I highly recommend you find out for yourself !

We loved staying at this cozy cabin! Perfect for our family and dog. Pretty walk down to the river, quiet, had everything we needed, fire pit was fun too! The hot tub was the best part to end the day! The host was great and so easy to communicate with! Reminder: you are in the woods so we did deal with a lot of wasps inside the downstairs bedroom and found one scorpion hanging out our first night. We couldn’t figure out how a large amount of wasps were entering the house But this stuff is to be expected in the woods i guess! We used the Waze App and it tried taking us the wrong way to the property so just note for future renters! Don’t use Waze..use Apple Maps or Google MapsWe can’t wait to come back!

We truly felt at home in The Valkyrie. We wanted to get away and it was the absolute best place to break away from all the hustle and bustle. The cabin was loaded with everything you need and more. I cannot say enough about how much fun we had at this cabin. We made memories that will last a lifetime. The trail down to the river is breathtaking and so peaceful!

The cabin was very nice. We enjoyed the Hot Tub. The cabin was very dog friendly. The river was a challenge to get to and back for out of shape people like us. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

We actually checked into the wrong cabin by accident, completely our fault but the owner was very okay with the mistake and it worked out. Beautiful place, very secluded. Cabin itself was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

This was our second time at Valkyrie and it reminded us just how much we love a visit to Mentone and this cabin in particular. We have finally found our home in the mountains.

This was our second stay at a different property that this host owns... what a fabulous cabin!! The key word to describe the location is REMOTE! We really wanted to unplug from the daily grind on our wedding anniversary so it was absolutely perfect for romantic solitude. What really surprised us was how luxurious the property is! Especially for the rustic, country location! Very well appointed and comfortable. We really enjoyed the fireplace and outdoor firepit! Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

Beautiful property if you’re looking for some solitude in nature! The house is well built with that modern rustic feel. It was nice and cool in the hot August weather, and had every comfort when away from home. We enjoyed being able to unplug and listen to the sounds of the woods and the river below. We made each of our meals at the cabin and found everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved being able to take a walk several times a day down the long winding driveway through the woods. And sitting on the front porch during a rain storm was heaven! Communication with the owner was great. He was always quick and courteous, like when we let him know we noticed the fire extinguisher had been discharged by a previous guest. He responded right away that he would get it replaced. We loved this property and look forward to our next visit! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful place!

Wonderful, beautiful property. Perfect place to really get away from everything, relax, refresh, and recharge.

Great cabin! We loved it and so did kids. I fished in stream out back while kids swam. Very close to Desoto park which had zip line, swimming pool, and Indian falls. Went horseback riding right down the road. Saw deer, turkey, and a bear that ran off quickly.

We truly enjoyed the seclusion and being where we could enjoy seeing the birds, deer, skunks and even a rat snake. The sound of the whip'o'wills in the evening was so calming. Our teenage granddaughter enjoyed the soaking tub immensely. Seeing the baby birds come out of their shells in the their nest above the front porch was a great treat ad well. The only suggestion that I would make would be a larger crock pot and a few more latge pots. We cooked in the evening and there were 5 of us.

Beautiful luxury cabin in the woods

Beautiful cabin, beautiful area. I do think the word River in the property description is miss leading. If you arrive at property expecting to see the river as I did, you will be disappointed . You will hear it below you but definitely no sight of it. Other than that definitely 5 stars beautiful property.

This is our 3rd time staying here, it’s honestly one of our favorite cabins in AL, TN, NC, and I’m sure we’ll be back again!!!

If privacy and seclusion is what you're looking for, this cabin is ALL of that!! We arrived 30 minutes before check in time, cabin wasn't clean, grass hadn't been cut. When the cleaning was finished and the cabin turned over to us was about 30 minutes after check in time. We unloaded our stuff, and a guy knocks on the door, there to cut the grass. The cabin and property should be clean and tidy BEFORE check in time, neither was done. The cabin is advertised as a water view cabin, you can hear it, see it or actually get to it, not so much. We brought our dog because he loves the water. Water will not be a big part of your stay here. The hike down the back of the cabin and back up is not for the faint of heart.The cabin itself is really nice, beds are comfortable. The bathroom and shower are fantastic. The TV upstairs wouldn't change channels with either remote. Not a big deal, we didn't come to watch TV, but it should be working.OVERALL: We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The cabin and property are very nice. It's private and very peaceful to sit around and relax. The water access was a big reason we chose this cabin. The cabin is advertised as a river cabin, I don't feel like we got what was advertised as far as water access goes.

By far, our favorite weeklong getaway!No peopleNo light pollutionNo sounds other than the water cascading down the rocks and the birds.We actually saw a bear, at least two turkeys, a pileated woodpecker and a deer.The AC was cold and the hot tub was hot.We got a magnificent storm one night and finally on our last night we actually got to see the stars!My man is not easily impressed and he saidThis is simply perfect!Well done Rob and Vanessa.We will be back

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at this cabin! It was the perfect getaway for a grandkids weekend—clean, cozy, and beautifully maintained. The kids loved the outdoor space and the loft room, and I appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was. The views were stunning, and the peaceful setting made for great bonding time. We’ll definitely be back!

Great cabin close to Fort Paybe, Desoto State Park and Little River Canyon. Perfect for unplugging and unwinding.

We loved the cabin but the master bedroom mattress

Everything you could want or need, great location, beautiful surroundings, just wish we could have spent more time here. So many things to do nearby or just relax at the cabin and immerse yourself in the quietness of nature. We will most certainly be back! Thank you for sharing your home.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Valkyrie cabin...my husband and I very much enjoyed the privacy, beauty and conveniences of this cabin and location. We hope to return again with family and venture more down the lovely river and trails.If you're truly looking to get AWAY...this is the place!

We enjoyed this spot! The river bank behind the cabin was such a nice place for the kids to climb rocks and fish. When we rode by other cabins in the area, we repeatedly said how happy we were that we chose a place more secluded. Would book again next time we go to Mentone!

This is a quality craftsmanship cabin for a family to stay in and relax after hiking at Desoto Falls and Cloudland Canyon.

This is a really beautiful cabin in a secluded location. The river? creek? behind the cabin was gorgeous. I was sad that it was too cold to get in (March). I like to choose this kind of place for family trips because it is secluded enough to make family time a priority but close enough to things to see to make it enjoyable for the kids. The stars were so beautiful.

Love this place ! This is our second time and we definitely will be back ! The communication with the host is wonderful! The view is beautiful. The hot tub on the back screened in deck overlooks the water and you can hear it, so relaxing and when he said it is secluded it is very secluded . I can’t say enough good about it .

Amazing cabin very secluded for our romantic getaway

We had a fantastic stay at this cabin! The secluded location made it the perfect getaway for peace and relaxation. The fireplace added a cozy warm touch, and the hot tub was the ultimate highlight. It snowed the first night we arrived and had no problem staying all weekend in the cabin. We did walk the property and made our way down to the river which was amazing. The cabin was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Host was very responsive and accommodating to us with travel due to the 1st winter storm of 2025. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat!

It was absolutely amazing secluded quiet, cozy just a wonderful place to spend five days to relax without a city noise being around you. Beautiful place would recommend it 10 out of 10.

We may have found our Mentone getaway. Valkyrie checked so many boxes for us: private, beautifully built and decorated, comfy bed, great parking if you are pulling a trailer with a motorcycle, nice neighborhood for long walks, big hot tub that worked just as it should, well appointed, and super close to DeSoto State Park. Can't wait for our next stay! We plan to bring the dog next time.

We stayed from Friday the 15th until Sunday the 17th! It was NOT long enough! The location of this cabin is absolutely perfect! If you're looking for a cabin away from everything, this is IT! Its so peaceful you can hear the leaves crunch from the animals in the woods. We enjoyed every minute of it. We went for our anniversary and decided we will make it a tradition every year to go back. We were unable to build a fire even though we paid $30 for the wood. The wood was not left and it says not to take from the wood pile so that was a bummer. The cabin was very cozy and the bed was very comfortable ! We didn't want to leave!! a cabin away from everything, this is IT!

My husband and I were thrilled with our stay at this perfectly secluded cabin. Very spacious with everything you need. Front porch sitting in the swing with morning coffee, relaxing by the fire pit roasting marshmallows and watching the sun set on the back porch made for a perfect fall day!! Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing, secluded cabin on beautiful wooded property. Absolutely everything that we needed for a great stay! Comfortable bed, hot tub, fire pit and fully stocked kitchen. Short drive to nearby Mentone & Fort Payne.

We loved our stay. We came from Florida to escape Hurricane Helene and we had the perfect place to relax in. The decor is amazing, especially the master bathroom and we loved being able to go down to the creek and explore, just behind the house. It is steep, so be prepared. Would definitely go back.
