Stayed May 15, 2025Beautiful home in a beautiful location. The home has a limited view of the lake. Really enjoyed the hot tub and screened porch. The home was and had all we needed for a enjoyable weekend exploring the nearby state parks. Only downside is the pool table/sticks need work and couldn't really be used. However we would return. Smithville is a very small country town. We really enjoyed the local restaurant Twisted Oaks.

Stayed Mar 16, 2025We stayed at this home with the intention of using it as our home base for excursions to a few state parks to hit some biking / hiking trails. Our stay was early spring, so the community pool wasn't open yet, but the boys had fun biking up and down the road to the pool location and the home was big enough for them to play hide-and-seek indoors (it got a bit chilly once the sun went down - again, we were there in early spring). We used the hot tub nearly every day - that was great to have after a day of biking/hiking. The boys also made use of the ping pong table and pool table (although only one cue stick was usable - the others were missing the tips). Evening meals in the screened porch were lovely (and very quiet, since there weren't many other people there during the week). All in all we had a great stay. The host was very communicative and accommodating. From our perspective, the only drawback was the drive to the house (windy, narrow roads pulling a large trailer) and the very steep driveway in the back (not really usable). Since the community pool wasn't open, we were able to park on the street at the entry level for the house without causing any issues with traffic (we only saw a few other homes with people in them - so not a lot of traffic). The views are lovely and it is definitely tranquil.
