Local guides are available for a fishing excursions featuring Lake trout on Lake Superior, or fly fishing the serene Yellow Dog River. Waterfall tours are also available and are very popular. Big Bay is an all seasons town but really comes alive in the summer, most camps and cottages are used as summer retreats.

Surronnding Area: The city of Marquette is located 25 miles down the road from Big Bay and has all the amenities of a large town. In the summer it offers festivals at the scenic and centrally located lower Harbor Park on the Lake (check marquette city web site: http://downtownmarquette.org/events for dates, there are to many to list). Marquette, which is home to Northern Michigan University offers many cultural and artistic events. Marquette General Hospital has been nationally recognized for its Health care is located next door.
