Take a trip back in time with all things rustic The Old Dam Cabin is an acknowledgment of its location, and if Cozy had a picture in the dictionary, the Old Dam Cabin would be looking back at you with a big grin. Though this is Lydia's most rustic cabin we offer, it has a special place in our hearts for all the history it holds having been built in the early 1800s. Lydia has kept this property true to its roots.

The Old Damn is located just off Route 33. This rustic cabin is perfect for families looking to reconnect and let us not forget our seasonal SipShack Icecream Shop, a public pavilion overlooking the pond, a play set with a sliding board, and even an off-leash dog park are within walking distance.

The Old Dam Cabin has a private hot tub to help you wind down and relax after a day of hiking in the National Park or simply chasing the kiddos and pets around! Enter the front door from the large front porch to the living room which is equipped with the original wood-burning fireplace. The living room located on the main floor has a futon for extra sleeping options while the studio-style full bedroom is located upstairs with two built-in twin beds. There is one full bathroom
on the main floor with a tub/shower unit. The rustic kitchen also located on the main floor has a refrigerator, microwave, and stove, and is stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery, baking dishes, pots, pans, and of course, a coffee pot!

So, come relax and take it easy in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Old Dam Cabin - you are going to love it!

Hello! We always enjoy our annual stay at the Old Dam Cabin, but unfortunately this year the heating malfunctioned. The vents blew warm air the first night, but after all the snow and ice it began only blowing cold air even though it was set to 75°. We tried the emergency heat setting, but that did not seem to help either. By the morning of our final day, the thermostat said it was 58° inside. It was manageable, but just wanted y’all to know so it can be addressed for future guests. Thanks!

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay! My grand dog did too! Haha There was no one thing we loved most because we loved everything!!! The rustic cabin with the wonderful stone fireplace... the hot tub... the firepit... loved it all! We couldn't get the direct tv to work but that was no big thing... we stayed at the firepit as long as possible! We're hoping to come visit again soon!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the Old Dam Cabin. The rustic charm was just what we expected from the description, complete with authentic stone fireplace. Our dogs appreciated the woodsy “yard”. And, the location was so convenient to Shenandoah NP. We will recommend to friends!

Overall, very cute rustic cabin. It met all our needs for the short stay. Of note, the stairs to the loft are very steep so one of our dogs would not go up. Thankfully there was a sleeping accommodation on the main floor.

Interior was satisfactory. Exterior not so much. Chairs on front porch covered in bird excrement (we cleaned). Picnic table filthy ( left that way).

We loved our stay and the women I talked to on the phone were very nice. The only thing that I would have liked is a heads up on the people coming to put the Wi-Fi in.

We originally reanted a different cabin. However i have physical limitations that made the booking difficult. The staff worked with us to get us a different cabin and we had a wonderful 30th anniversary vacation.

There were several cobwebs and several rooms in several areas, and they had been there for awhile . There was also some debris in the bathroom floor. Upon leaving my boyfriend, inform me that on the first night he did find a snakeskin on the mantle when he went to start a fire. The cabin does have a lot of olld charm but under the conditions. I don't feel like I would stay there again unless they did some fixing and definitely some cleaning. And the steps were very narrow and hard to maneuver. You had to use caution when going down them because they were very small and narrow. I did book a couple's massage and the lady was fantastic. I believe her name was jessica and that was really a great service. She was very nice and very professional. Also visited the lodge and the restaurant there., and that was very nice.

Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation! We really enjoyed the cabin. It was clean, historic, and a great experience. The dog park next door was really awesome too and we especially enjoyed meeting Ashton. She is so sweet and we will be back to see her (and Jumper) and stay at a cabin on the mountain. Just a couple of suggestions for the Old Dam - it was really cold and the drafts through the front floor and windows were fierce. I wonder if when it is that cold, you just stock firewood as part of the rental. We spent a ton on firewood bc it was so cold and the fireplace and Forced heat could only do so much. I also wonder if you’d consider a wood stove instead so it heats the whole place. These are just suggestions from our perspective. We will surely be back and really enjoyed you, your restaurant and the trip. Have a wonderful, healthy, happy, and prosperous 2025!!

This place is very cool! Definitely has a great cabin vibe, and only 5 minutes from Shenandoah entrance. Had everything we needed. I don't remember seeing a picture of the living room when booking it, so I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the cabin. Our kids loved sleeping in the raised twin beds, the outside fire pit, and playing the piano with us. Communication by guest services was timely, no issues at all.

Direct TV did not work. The incline of the steps to the bedroom was too steep for our dog, so we slept downstairs. Otherwise, the cabin was delightful.

Very cozy cabin with the driveway off of US 33 and 5 minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The hot tub in the back was a bonus after hiking all day. Very peaceful sitting on the porch with a bourbon and a book at the end of the day.

All was pretty good, a little to much spider webs in the cabin. I would recommend and will return!
