Summary:

Discover The Far View Retreat, a private cabin getaway designed for rest and reconnection. Once one of the area’s original hunting cabins, it’s been thoughtfully reimagined with warmth and care. Here, panoramic views stretch for miles, mornings unfold quietly on the screened-in porch, and evenings fade into the glow of twilight and a sky full of stars.

The Space:

Living Room, Dining & Kitchen--

The open living area is anchored by atwo-story painted brick fireplace, adjacent to windows overlooking the Sheandandoah Valley. A full size dining area with seating for six and 55” smart TV keep the space connected. Whether gathered for morning coffee or unwinding after a day on the trails, this is the heart of the home—spacious, warm, and effortlessly welcoming.

The fully equipped kitchen invites culinary connection and creativity, featuring stainless steel appliances and a range of small appliances, including a Vitamix blender, KitchenAid stand mixer, toaster, and waffle maker. A complete coffee setup—with a Nespresso Vertuo, Keurig, French press, and traditional drip coffee maker—ensures every morning ritual feels just right.

The kitchen is stocked with a full suite of cookware, bakeware, and serving pieces, along with ample dinnerware and wine glasses for gatherings both casual and celebratory. Whether it’s a slow morning breakfast or a holiday dinner, every detail supports ease and enjoyment.

A cozy breakfast nook seats four comfortably at a farmhouse-style round table, while the island bar offers space for two more—a favorite spot for conversation, light meals, or sharing a glass of wine as the evening winds down.

Upstairs Loft--

Two futons and a 43” smart TV make the second-floor loft a versatile retreat—ideal for kids, movie nights, or an afternoon nap between adventures. Tucked beneath the vaulted ceiling, it feels both open and intimate, a perfect hideaway for downtime.

Lower Level Theatre & Game Room--

Downstairs, the lower level transforms into a hub for entertainment and relaxation. A second electric fireplace anchors the space, surrounded by a large sectional sofa and a 75” smart TV with soundbar—perfect for movie marathons or game-day gatherings.

Foosball, arcade favorites, and oversized games make this level ideal for families or groups looking to spread out. A full bathroom, laundry room, and direct walkout access to the private hot tub and outdoor spaces ensure comfort and convenience are never far away.

Outdoor Spaces--

Step outside and take in the beauty that gives The Far View Retreat its name. The cabin’s outdoor areas are designed to make the most of every moment—whether it’s sunrise coffee, afternoon lounging, or evenings beneath the stars.

The main-level screened porch offers sweeping valley views, comfortable seating, and a peaceful place to start or end your day. The front deck features a propane grill and café-style seating—perfect for weekend brunch or dinner al fresco.

In the backyard, unwind in the private hot tub or gather around the propane fire pit. Nearby, a spacious lawn area invites friendly games and quiet moments alike, creating space for both connection and calm.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms--

️ Bedroom 1 (King Bed) — Located just off the main living area, the primary bedroom features a king bed and dedicated workspace.

️ Bedroom 2 (Queen Bed) — Also on the main floor, this serene guest room offers a comfortable queen bed and built-in desk space.

️ Bedroom 3 (King Bed) — Tucked away on the lower level, this bedroom offers extra privacy and easy access to the game room, lower bathroom, and outdoor hot tub—ideal for guests who enjoy a little personal space.

Bathrooms — The main-level full bathroom includes a bathtub and shower; the lower-level bathroom features a walk-in shower for easy access after a soak in the hot tub or a day outdoors.

The cabin was spacious and well equipped. The rooms were clean and comfy. The hot tub was clean and refreshing after a long hiking day. Lovd the covered deck for watching sunrises and the deer. I heard a coyote howl early one morning.

This place was amazing. Just as described. The screened in balcony was a favorite as was the well equipped kitchen. Best pans and knives I've seen at any vacation rental! When we arrived the place was beautifully decorated for fall. We saw deer every day as well as several different types of birds. The hot tub was nice and relaxing. We spent a whole week at the cabin and would gladly spend another. I would advise to try to arrive there the 1st time while it's still light out because the twisty-turny roads up the mountain can be a little nerve-wracking.

It’s rare for us to be so resounding on any review but this Blue Mountain gem is worth every penny. From all the amenities anyone would want to the breathtaking sunrises this cozy home just bursts out with “Welcome”. Matt’s responsiveness to any and every need is to be commended. Our extended stay made our new home wait well worth it. With wineries a stones throw away and an arboretum and beautiful State Park close by there’s plenty to do “off the mountain”. You’ll throughly enjoy this part of the Shenandoah Valley.

This cabin was great for our weekend get away near to the valley's wine country. Everything is modern, comfortable, and available-- there is no roughing it.Almost everything is well labeled so you know where to find whatever you're looking for. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment, which is good because there's not many places to eat in the immediate area. We found everything to be clean and in working order. Nice view of the hills off the back porch. Would definitely stay again. Make sure your first time getting to the house is during day light-- The road up the mountain winds and turns and is not well lit. It's easy after the first time haha, but worth getting to know wen you can clearly see it.

This is a great house right in the middle of winery country. Checkin was a breeze. The owner provided the pertinent information well ahead of our arrival. The house is beautifully kept with many amenities. We took advantage of the hot tub after a day of traveling to several local wineries. We will definitely plan to come back in the spring or summer months to check out the beautiful views from atop the mountain.

We took a few days to stay at this little slice of heaven in the mountains which was easily accessible but yet offered enough privacy to feel secluded.

Everything we could need or want was there for us. The Cabin was clean, welcoming and was comfoetable. We spent many hours on the screened in porch playing cards, at the main floor dining table with a puzzle and sunsets in the hot tub. Would come back again for sure!
