Sweet Dreams - Near Mentone and Desoto State Park

Room was clean had a few cobwebs here and there but it’s a cabin in the woods so nothing to be alarmed about, it had an excellent hot tub and great privacy!!

Beautiful property, quite and very peaceful. Would definitely stay there again.

Adorable cabin!

The cabin is quaint and nice. Check in was simple and fast. The problems that we had the musty smell the couch in the living room. Awful smell move the cushions and it was at least 2 in of dust dirt old food dog hair. There were a lot of bugs like millipedes in the bathroom ants in the kitchen. We tried to use the hot tub the first night we got there and it was like a slime on the top of the water. Tried to skim it off. We got that all off went to get in. It was slimy on the bottom of the hot tub so we did not get to use the hot tub. The rest of the time tried to call the host but of course we had no signal out there. It is a beautiful sight and the house is really cute but it just needs to be maintained a little bit more. We were supposed to stay till Saturday but we left Friday because we just couldn't do the bugs anymore. But if it was ever cleaned up and taken care of we would love to go back.

Wonderful place tucked away in the mountains.

This was an extremely difficult property to find, especially after dark. I repeatedly called the host and never received a call back. The instructions to get the door were incorrect, and we could not contact the host, luckily my husband said look under the doormat and luckily there was a key or we would not have been able to get in. The yard was not kept up at all. I will not stay here again.

This cabin needs some work.....like gutters and a dehumidifier in the crawlspace. It smells musty and like dog. There is a pet odor eliminator on the living room table. The moisture problem underneath the house is making the dog smell worse. It obviously has a moisture issue in the crawl space because the hardwood floor is cupping and the floor in warping. The mattress should probably be replaced and my wife got 3 flea bites afte laying on the couch. The fridge is leaking water under the front doors on to the floor. The hot tub probably needed draining as well. The hot tub was gritty just under the surface of the water and it was cloudy. The cooktop had a greasy film like it was wiped with a dirty rag. I never received an email or VRBO notice from the host so I called him and he told me where the key was a said he had sent an email but I checked my spam folder. I messaged him on VRBO messaging that we had left on Sunday and no acknowledgement. I sent him a message two days ago, outlining the issues with the cabin and how to fix them. ZERO acknowledgement or feedback. Most hosts have been happy and receptive to our observations and suggestions on how to make their property better. Not this time, I guess. This is probably the 25th cabin rental we have rented in Mentone and this one was not among the best by far. I hope the host corrects the issues and gets back on track.

Very disappointed. Here's our experience in detail:1. Exterior is filthy, spider/cob webs all over exterior building. Nothing is clean as the picture portrays.2. Entrance is covered in cobwebs and bird poop on the handrail, door frame, side wall, and outside light. A great welcoming first impression.3. Living room and bedroom ceiling fans great you with an inch of dust on all fan blades and dust bunnies hanging down from both light and fan pull chains.4. The back patio is very dirty. Dirty is an understatement as it is covered in spider/cob webs, dust/dirt, all over the backdoor frame, kitchen window and BBQ area. 5. Hot tub patio fan was full of cob webs and the fan light housing had hundreds of dead bugs inside. So much so that when the light was turned on, only 20% of the light was visible due to the entire bowl section full of dead bugs. Someone also left their press-on nails on the fence ledge. Hot tub jets consisted of 20 jets of which only 3 worked. 7. Bed mattress is old, lumpy and sags at least 6 in the center. 8. Washing machine had a dirty/stinky rag in it. Iron did not work, bathroom had cobwebs hanging from ceiling over toilet, and first towel taken under bathroom sink was soaking wet.We travel frequently; however, reviews for this cabin are grossly inflated for its condition, price, and poorly maintained amenities.

Wonderful!

The cabin was nice for the price. Enjoyed the hot tub and the grill. Had plenty of fun visiting the local falls.

Prop. Manager was quick to answer our questions on check in day.The facility was not quite up to our expectations in regards to cleanliness, but it was very comfortable, quiet, and pet friendly.We did enjoy our stay.

Cabin is nice and was very clean. We enjoyed our 3 night stay for our 29th anniversary. Host was very responsive to messages.

House was dusty, particularly under the bed was extremely dusty and caused problems sleeping. we tried to clean it, but only had a broom.in addition, the bed made noises when you got up or down or turned over.The bathroom sink was stopped up. The hot tub made a lot of noise and came on every few minutes. It was right outside the bedroom and We had to turn off the breaker so that we could sleep.Otherwise, the place was nice, and we enjoyed our stay.

What a wonderful place!! I loved the “fire places”. The place was a great getaway for our 35th Anniversary! I also love the fence around the porch.

Great host, very clean cabin.

This is a beautifully built home in a perfect location. But there were some amenities listed that weren’t available like a television and Roku in the bedroom. Also the linens being torn and worn out didn’t give me much confidence that it was cared for well. The kitchen wasn’t the cleanest and the shower had some sort of cleaning residual that stuck to our swimsuits when we put them in the shower to dry, after the hot tub. Honestly it just needs a deep clean and new linens which would make it the perfect place to stay.

We had a wonderful time. The cabin was well maintained and the hot tub was wonderful. Thank goodness for the covered porch because the weather was horrible.

The cabin was clean and had plenty of dishes, towels, etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. There are no soap amenities so be sure to bring your own. The private deck with the hot tub was very nice! There was a large tv in the living room with plenty of streaming services. The welcome notebook mentioned a tv in the bedroom but there was not one. The owner had his own hand-painted artwork displayed throughout the cabin which was very nice. We arrived after dark so I wish the porch light had been left on. It also would have been nice to have some coffee available to make in the coffee maker.

Cabin was filthy, every surface was covered in pet hair even though it was listed as no pets allowed. Dog had pooped in the closet and left it for us to find. Hot tub was disgusting I spent hours trying to get the water clear. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. Owner did come out and offered a free night. I wouldn’t even stay here for free.

The location was not as shown online. The actual location was good for us but I would prefer to know the correct location prior to purchase.

Overall the cabin was very nice. However, there was no dishwasher detergent and some of the cookware was in poor shape and dirty.

The hot tub was great. The cabin was clean and comfy and had everything we needed. The is very comfortable. We would stay here again. Larry was great. His artwork around the cabin is an awesome bonus.

Comfortable and cozy.

This was our 4th time staying at this cabin over the past 5 or 6 years. We love the view from the LR windows, lots of deer! The location is wonderful, however the cabin is starting to show its age. (The kitchen (frying) pans were very worn and hard to clean. The bedding and mattress are also a quite worn.)

Nice place

Very private, quiet neighborhood. Home looks good at first glance when you enter but we found hair on the pillows and shower walls. There was no soap provided for shower and I don’t remember reading that we have to carry our own. No coffee in the kitchen but a coffee maker is present. Again, every place I’ve stayed in the past provide the above as minimum requirements specially as this home is not very close to stores. So, carry your own if you are staying here.

The Cabin was just what we needed. It was relaxing and quite. We stayed for our anniversary and my wifes birthday. The cabin is not right in the town of Mentone but it is just a short drive.

Very nice cabin in the woods, about 5 miles from town. Loved the quaintness and quiet atmosphere. Larry was exceptionally good in communicating precisely how to locate the cabin. He is an excellent host!! It would be helpful if VRBO updated the info to state the cabin is not immediately in town.

The place was tranquil. It could really use a lot of cleaning...such as the living room furniture smelled of animals bad and the cobb webs were bad. The oven also didn't work.

Great stay. Nice quiet area. Needs a good cleaning, new garbage can (has mold in the bottom. Needs a new shower curtain (very dirty with black spots on it) bathroom sink does not drain very well. Shower head needs cleaning or a new it’s dirty. But could be hard water. Not sure if the cleaning person was in a hurry. We used to love staying here. Not sure if we will come back. Owner is very easy to contact.

Larry was a great host, responded quickly and had the cabin ready early for us. We stayed with our dogs, very quiet and secluded, yet near town and state parks for a nice hike with the pups! Cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely stay again if back in the area. Thank you!!

I really loved this little cabin. It is so serene and peaceful, the hot tub is amazing. It is beautiful and I would recommend it but there are a couple things that would make this cabin to the best of the best. Please have a deep cleaning of the whole cabin done at least monthly... It needs some TLC. Also please invest in a new bed, it's old wore out and so uncomfortable. We barely slept. Thanks for a great weekend.

Beautiful area. Cabin was wonderful. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star is due to the yard. Would have liked it more manicured. But this did not prevent us from having a fire and enjoying the outdoors.

We had a great long weekend at the cabin and enjoyed it very much. The cabin was perfect for my husband and I and had everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect and the bed slept just fine. Larry was an amazing host who even called me ahead of the trip to make sure I had directions just in case we lost cell service. Also, he is a very talented artist and had many of his original works hanging in the cabin. My only complaint is I didn’t have 2 cash on me as he had some of his prints for sale and I would have loved to have brought one home with me. Overall we loved the cabin and even talked about coming back in the cooler months.

This place was very quiet, secluded and full of wildlife. Watched deer, turkey and a hawk from the front window while sitting in the living room. It was a nice place to unplug. Strap the garbage can lid down because there is a raccoon that loves to dump it

This host is OUTSTANDING ‼He personally called me to make sure that I could get to the place without a GPS , then he told me that I was welcome to get in two hours earlier than check in time . This place is very isolated and private , yet there are other properties around it . It's very nice and clean . I never seen a kitchen so overstocked with anything that you think that you can need . The hot tub is hot and jetty , the bed is very comfortable, the windows up front are large bd clean making for a beautiful view of the wilderness. Even in brutal heat , the AC unit can make it Christmas inside . For me , a city guy , the surrounding properties made it very comfortable to hang outside all night . Oh , and the host didn't treat me like a squatter reminding me every three hours of check out time ..he has a bunch of good channels on the television. We had a Wang Dang Doodle and will Definitely return once it cools down

Great cabin!

Location was great. Cabin was clean. Very peaceful. The bed was a little uncomfortable (firmness). A couple of lamp sockets were broken. Outside could use a little TLC. Workers began cutting limbs at 6:00 am our last morning there, making it difficult to sleep in a bit. Overall, a pleasant and peaceful little hideout in the woods.

Cabin is super cute - beautiful paneling, hot tub on deck, upgraded appliances, spa-quality towels. Bed was clean & comfortable. The road to the cabin is rustic, but it is lined with amazing granite formations. Owner has decorated with his original artwork. Owner is also very nice to deal with and prompt on communications.

Enjoyed the hot tub and grill. Bed was comfy! Nice white towels and wash clothes. Nice and relaxing before a start to our vacation. We love this area.

Nice cabin quiet and relaxing

We stayed here for our 35th anniversary. Cabin was so cozy. Bed was nice. Very quiet neighborhood. Everything was perfect. The listing said there was a cafe that was a 3 minute walk, but it must have been referring to from the center of town. The cabin wasn’t within walking distance of anything, which was fine. Mentone was a short beautiful drive.

We love Mentone and have stayed in the area many times. This property is not where the VRBO posting stated. The listing says it's a 3 min walk to the Mentone Townhall. However it was a 5 mile drive. The host were difficult to reach and said it was due to their internet connection. We had no follow up from them to check if we reached the property. The location on the VRBO map and GPS were not accurate either.

Great get-away for my husband and I. Was pretty quiet and relaxing. Will def book again.

Just had the most wonderful getaway at a cozy cabin! With ample space for two, a relaxing hot tub, and a peaceful, private setting, it was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. We can’t wait to return for another rejuvenating stay!

We had a great time in Mentone. Our cabin was exactly what we needed. We were happy about how close it was to the areas we wanted to visit. Accommodations were great as well. Thanks for allowing to use your property. We look forward to being back in Mentone soon!

RELAXING AND QUIET

Cute little property in the mountains. It felt so homie and was secluded so we didn’t have to worry about neighbors being able to be nosey. The hot tub was great! We overall had an amazing experience and would stay again! Also, Larry (property owner) had great communication!

Really cute cabin in the woods! Convenient to DeSoto State Park and all of the Falls. I was very disappointed to find dirty sheets on the bed and creepy cobwebs everywhere. The cabin needs a good cleaning! Also, the property manager never sent me a code or instructions on how to access the property. The first time I called after arrival, I didn’t get an answer. It was approximately 45 minutes after arrival when I was finally able to get in touch with the owner. Crisis finally averted, but not until after panic mode had set in.

This was booked for a gift for our pastor and his wife to have a getaway. He doesn’t ever complain about much of anything, however he even stated this was not very clean at all.

It was very peaceful and quiet. Definitely great for a couple to get away for a few days. Will be back again

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and will probably book again. Only had very small issues, the mattress was a little rough and the ignition for the grill didn’t work but other than that it was amazing.
