River Retreat - In Town Treat on The Chattahoochee River

We liked that the property seemed private, even with houses close by. The direct access to the river was great though all the neighbors used it. The house was nice and worked well for us. We could walk to many places in the town.

This was the perfect cabin for our family, we really enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable, the house and hot tub were clean, and the best part was being just steps away from the river. Lots of fishing! The location was close to town, just a couple minutes to drive but also walkable. But far enough from the main road where we got to enjoy nature and listen to the river. The best part was just sitting out back with our feet in the water. Highly recommend and we will definetly be back and would stay here again.

We had the best time and we were very happy with the cabin! It was exactly what it showed in the online listing and was one of the cleanest places we’ve ever stayed on vacation!

Love the location of this cabin and the peaceful flow of the river directly adjacent. Everything was very peaceful and as advertised. My rating is lowered to 4 stars due to a slight shortage of flatware and kitchen utensils. Also, there was a significant noise issue with the dryer, which worked to dry clothing but drowned out any conversation within the house. We reported the problem to management upon checkout. Overall, we very much enjoyed the house.

Great location near to town, great use of hot tub on back deck, on the river, very quiet. Very clean. My only complaint was we couldn’t get the sound system working on the tv and could not get the volume up with any remote. Loved the wood decor and fireplace.

The beds and couches were so comfortable and cozy. The fire place was warm and inviting. The dishwasher and dryer need replaced. It would be nice to have more kitchen wares and hand towels.

Highly recommend!! The teams communication was on point from the moment I booked. I even had to reschedule the dates and they were more than helpful. The location is prime, its peaceful yet within walking distance. The covered parking area came in handy since it rained a lot during our stay. The cabin is exactly how its pictured...probably even better in person. Easy peasy check out requirements too! We will only stay here when visiting Helen from now on.

The only thing was that there were only single pillows on the beds. There was one extra pillow in each room, but no spare pillowcases. That's the only thing I would say, and perhaps many people sleep with just one pillow. Not a big deal.

We enjoyed staying in the cabin by the creek. Loved the sounds while sitting on the deck. The beds were so comfortable! Very close to town. We'll be back!

Game in loft wasn’t working, maintenance came and ran an extension cord to a new plug and got it to work then you have to pay to play it🤦🏼‍♀️ was clean-ish. Could definitely use a sweep or mop under the tables and beds. Hanging lights had a lot of dead bugs. Did contact the rental company. They came out and looked at the issues but could only fix the game.

This place was all we expected it to be. Convenient to all the sights but felt very private. Lovely place to just sit in the river and enjoy the nature.

The cabin is right on the river and was very nice! It is close to down town Helen but still seemed private! We even sat in the hot tub while listening to the river and it was so relaxing!

Arrived to all of our groceries already in the fridge or neatly displayed on the counters. The rental was immaculately clean. Mornings were spent with a cup of coffee and listening to the river. Daytime was spent relaxing in the river, evenings were grilling on the covered back porch and then soaking in the hot tub.Of course, a couple of trips into town for some shopping and hanging out at Paul's our favorite.I cannot say enough good things about GMR Staff. Always so helpful and accommodating. We will definitely rent River Retreat again!

I have never left a negative review in my life so it takes a lot for me to say this. The cabins locations was wonderful but for what I paid for three nights that was the only positive. We had trouble with the combination lock on our 2nd day and called and someone was quickly sent out to reprogram. This was very pleasing but the cabin itself was not taken care of. The furniture had stains and the floor was so dirty you could not walk barefoot without your feet being black. We killed a few roaches and then found roach soray on top of the refrigerator so the problem was known. We found a couple of ticks on the couch. There was a note left on the refrigerator with notes how to clean up where it was expressed that we not put out unused towels and linens in the tub with our dirty used ones. This made me feel that the linens were not all laundered in between each guest which is gross. We actually chose to leave a day early because we were so unhappy with the lack of cleanliness. Of course normally I would chalk this up to a cleaning person or company being more responsible for the state of the cabin but I sent a very detailed email the morning after we left to explain why we left early and the condition in which the cabin is. I received an email stating someone would get in touch with me and after more than a week of waiting I have heard nothing. Helen is one of my favorite places to visit and unfortunately this trip is one i will remember in a negative light and I would not recomme

Very clean and nice lodging beside a clear water creek. We were there in the off season so it was quiet and non crowded. Hot tub on porch was clean and warm. Convenient to town and area attractions. As they have well water, I suggest using bottled water for coffee or tea and for ice. Kcups are needed for coffee. Overall , it was a very pleasant stay. Deer were seen along the creek as were some fishermen. Host was very attentive to a lighting issue we had. And we were pleasantly surprised to see a gift waiting for us from the host, as it was our 50th wedding anniversary!! Thank you for making our stay memorable!

River Retreat was a great stay. Beds were comfortable, cabin was cozy, and conveniently located. The kitchen was not well stocked and the upstairs TV wouldn’t work throughout our trip. Everything else was great!

The location is great to get to town, only a few minutes drive. There is a water park directly across from the house. Thankful it was closed for the season. The house needs some updating and we felt like they needed more kitchen items for cooking. There is only 1 dry measuring cup, bowls for mixing, etc The keypad on the door was not working, but the property manager came right there and got us in. The response time was great and she was very helpful! Overall we had an amazing weekend.

River Retreat was very spacious and nicely decorated. Location was great, right on the Chattahoochee River. I was happy that it was off season for the water park right across the river but if you had young kids or are young at heart, it is certainly convenient. The hot tub was clean and ready for use after a long day of activities. Perfect way to wind down. Everything was walkable but also plenty of free parking in town. We love the Hardman Farm and Ruby Falls. Also enjoyed the wineries and grits mill and of course some good German food (schnitzel and beer and brats). Also Helen has a great Thai and Sushi place if you tire of German food. Pizza place nearby was great, too. Weather was perfect everyday. Clear blue skies, lows in high 30's and highs in 60's. I understand there was a hurricane on us, but there was a terrible leak in the downstairs bathroom that came from the upstairs bathroom..found it right after we unloaded..immediately placed a call to the property manager and was told they would place a work order..had to put 2 cooking pots in the floor and a solo cup on the sink to catch the dirty brown water coming down..couldn't even stand at the sink to brush our teeth, never heard or saw anyone..and it rained nearly the whole 4 days..when we got home we had a msg on home phone to put a towel down..oh and by the way the whole kitchen sink faucet moves every time you turn it on or off to the point it exposes the hole in the sink..also the upstairs toilet chain has rusted to the point it slips off every time you flush..i would like a call from a manager before we book for next year. Also the carpet in the kitchen was full of dog hair

The river was peaceful in the evening. During the day,there is a water park across the river, but we did not hear alot of noise from there. On Sunday,there was a group of people enjoying their day at the picnic site and sand bar right across from us,but they were respectful of noise. Overall, the house is nice. There are a few updates that could be done. Kitchen appliances, dinnerware and utensils. It rained upon our arrival, so the parking under the house was great. Overall, a good stay!

This cabin was perfect for me and my wife and friends we hadn't seen for over 30 years until we reconnected earlier this year. The cottage gave us a place to relax and unwind when we weren't on the go in Helen, Dohlonega or up on top of the Blue Ridge riding the scenic railroad. Great long weekend getaway. Ga Mountain rentals checked on us twice to make sure all was good and we didn't need anything. We will be back soon!!!!
