Wanted a place with plenty of room for our holiday family vacation and this property exceeded all expectations! When booking, we knew right away this was our choice just from the pictures. Lets just say, the pictures don't do justice on how beautiful everything about this property is. If you're looking for a home with everything to accommodate actual family time, look no further! Only regret we have is that we didn't book a longer stay, but this will be our 1st choice the next time we're planning any trip(s) there.
Plum Ridge Farm exceeded our expectations. The house was spacious and uniquely decorated with local furniture and art. Each bedroom had its own TV, memory foam mattress, cozy quilt and numerous comfortable pillows. Both common areas had adequate seating and we enjoyed the no hassle remote controlled gas fireplace. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare and serve our Thanksgiving meal. Outside the house is a big firepit stocked full of chopped wood with seating for 4 and beautiful rolling hills where you can walk down to the pond or up to the barn to watch the cows. Additionally, the wrap around porch had numerous hanging seats where you could just take in the views. The small town of Taylorsville had everything we needed for the week. Country Mart is the local grocery store and Cox’s had the best prices on liquor including some bottles of bourbon that are impossible to find in other areas of the country (e.g., Buffalo Trace). We dined out once for dinner at the Silver Cup Bourbon Bar and Grille. If you want more sophisticated restaurant options, keep driving to Louisville. Finally, we had the good fortune to meet the owner of the property while he was working across the pond renovating another house for rental. He shared some of the most delicious country ham with us and provided the histories of the 3 homes on site. He was a very talented craftsman and artist by looking at this restoration and many of his paintings. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The home is located on a beautiful piece of land. The standout feature of the home for me was the wrap around porch with multiple swings and seats. It was a relaxing place to sip coffee in the morning. Getting into the home was easy, and the owner was quick to answer the questions I had. Our party included four adults and we each had clean and comfortable rooms. The home was perfectly clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, basic cookware but enough for the simple meals we were preparing. We were pleased to see that plenty of wood was stocked for the fire pit. The home is incredibly cozy and was a perfect location for our visit to bourbon country. We enjoyed drinks around the fire in the evening and played yard games in the lawn as we watch sunsets. I can’t say enough about how great this place was and I hope to visit again.
Spacious home with well appointed kitchen accessories. Beautiful rustic decor. Outdoor fire pit with comfy chairs, lots of wood for burning outside provided. Secluded setting with very large lawn. There was 6 of us and we had plenty of elbow room throughout. Would stay here again.
Beautiful log cabin on a lake in bourbon country. 3 couples had a wonderful stay. The home had a very comfy feel. Stayed in one day and enjoyed a crisp autumn day and watched football, bbq'd and sat by the fire pit and enjoyed. Would love to come back one day. Ton of room. House had everything you need.
a incredible place ! clean, calm, spacious on the hearth of nature our group was charmed by this property All was perfect ! Thank you
Wow! What a fantastic, restful and peaceful weekend! The house is amazing with views in every direction. We loved the decor, big rooms, large wrap around porch, equipped kitchen, grill, fire pit, lake view and more…We will book again!
Place was great and 100% as advertised. Very quiet setting but close to everything you need. Close enough to Louisville to not incur an additional fee for being picked up by Mint Julio tours. 2 items to note- Our party was on motorcycles and the driveway is a challenge but manageable. No washer and dryer access.
Fit our needs very well. Thank you!
The home is beautiful and all rooms are spacious allowing for plenty of room to gather together yet not feel cramped. The property was very clean, both inside and out, with the exception of a few spiderwebs around the main fireplace. The extra touches like the stamped toilet paper to start the roll made us feel welcomed. Sitting on the numerous porch chairs and swings to gaze upon the pond and open spaces allowed us to feel separated from the rush of the world. I went for a run and felt completely safe in my surroundings and enjoyed the various animals I came across like the deer and cows, the long driveway to the home, and the extras on the property like the train in the back and small cottage that is being worked on. A few things to note, there is streaming services however we were never able to actually stream because of buffering due to slow speed. We had brought an HDMI cord with us and downloaded our movies to a laptop while in town and that worked great. We reached out to Mary and she was responsive and polite despite the late time of our email/call. The kitchen is well stocked but could use a larger skillet for pancakes and such. This is a great home and if we are ever in the area again we will definitely look to stay here.
This property exceeded all expectations to the point that two in the group felt Iike we woke up on the set of Yellowstone. Centralized location to all that mattered. Bourbon, bourbon, and more bourbon. Outside fire pit area fantastic for evening cocktails. Kitchen well equipped for cooking. Left a little essence of Louisiana gumbo.
A perfect Fathers Day weekend so the Fathers could enjoy the Bourbon Trail as well as a quiet retreat in the country. The 4 bedroom suites were perfect for the 4 couples. Well thought out floor plan. Peaceful with plenty of birds chirping and the mooing cows in next field over. House was a gem in the country.
Comfortable home with amazing grounds and very nice amenities.
Beautiful place very clean and peaceful
We fell in love with the property and house the minute we stepped foot out of our vehicle. Words cannot describe the beauty of this house and the farm surrounding it. Our only regret was that we didn't book it for a couple more days. The second night we were there, we were already looking at our schedules to book for next spring. Can't wait to come back.
House, grounds, and pond were wonderful! Four couples (6 of us graduated from high school together 50 years ago!) loved our week long stay! It was convenient to Louisville, Lexington, and Bardstown to take in Keeneland Races, visit bourbon distilleries, and eat delicious food. The house had a well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, spacious living room, wrap-around porch, with good outdoor furniture.. The only downside was the TV service.; even though there were TV's everywhere, there was no live TV station and the internet was not strong enough to stream programs. But we stayed so busy talking, reading, fishing in the pond, and touring around, no TV worked out fine. The decorating and cleanliness reflects the owners interest and care of their beautiful property. Would definitely go there again, and highly recommend it!
This is the ultimate setting for a spectacular and peaceful farmhouse stay! Strategically close to Louisville, Churchill Downs and more! Perfect pastoral setting, exquisitely decorated with antiques, clearly was a labor of love. Perfect for extended family gathering for major events. Rustic traditional design; exquisite comfortable bedrooms and baths, porches wrap around house with rocking chairs to enjoy the company and beautiful sunsets. Kitchen well stocked and perfect for hosting a large family gathering. BBQ, fire-pit, fields and pond to explore, even a caboose! You will NOT be disappointed if you are lucky enough to be able to get this reservation. Class construction, decor, and setting! Host was accessible and invested in us having a memorable experience. We had family gathering from all over the USA; this will now be our home away from home for any event near Louisville. A very good value for the experience we had!
