Stayed Sep 26, 2025Our family enjoyed staying at Joy Cabin, a historic Estes Park home just minutes from RMNP. The home was clean and comfortable, with an amazing view from the front porch. The kitchen was well-equipped for our simple meals. We appreciated the complimentary kitchen and bath supplies. The beds were cozy and comfortable after long days of hiking. Our host was gracious and helpful.

Stayed Sep 15, 2025Nice quiet cabin, well located, and at the end of the road so there is no traffic. We like that you can get into the park without having to go through downtown. Love the view of Longs Peak from the covered porch, and all the rocking chairs on the porch. The kitchen was large and well-equipped. It was nice to have two bathrooms—the bathroom floors and corners could have used some TLC though. It got pretty cool a couple of nights, and the furnace worked well. We loved the family of four deer who visited us every day.

Stayed Jul 29, 2025Cabin was nicely appointed. The owners have achieved a rustic cabin feel with quality furnishings, both antique furnishings and modern appliances. The photos of the property are accurate. There are lots of pelts decorating the whole cabin so it might take getting used to them. Clearly a well loved home not just a rental with no character. Nicely set on the side of the mountain with great views . Quiet and private area. Saw a moose out the window on day one. Close to park and town. Highly recommend.

Stayed Jul 12, 2025We really loved the location and rustic charm of this cabin. The porch and seating area were especially enjoyable! The unit was very clean and very well outfitted for cooking. However, there were a few important details that weren’t clear in the property listing: The 2nd bedroom is located upstairs, accessible only by a very narrow staircase with steps that are just 6 inches deep. It’s quite steep, and going down literally requires stepping sideways for safety. Additionally, the 2nd bathroom is downstairs, which makes nighttime trips a bit inconvenient for anyone staying upstairs.Another point to note: guests are required to wash AND dry all towels before departure, despite a cleaning fee being charged. Since we had an early 6:00 AM flight out of Denver, we had to handle this the night before. In all my previous VRBO stays, I’ve never been asked to wash towels before checking out. Interesting to note that there are no recent reviews that I could find...when I dug into past reviews, the concern with the narrow staricase, among a couple other issues were noted...We enjoyed our stay overall.

Stayed Sep 27, 2024Very nice cabin with big living room and great views off the porch of the mountains. Five minutes at most from the park entry and Bear Lake Road. Rustic cabin vibe, nice neighborhood. Good delis and restaurants walkable. Wildlife everywhere, including in the neighborhood!

Stayed Jul 28, 2024We had a wonderdul time at Joy Cabin. The cabin offered a beautiful view of Longs Peak. The queen beds were quite comfortable. The twin beds, not so much. Kitchen was nicely stocked and the washer amd dryer were nice to have. Wonderfully located near the entrance to the national park.

Stayed Jul 6, 2024Location is great, minutes from Estes and RMNP entrance. Decor is a true 100 yr old cabin with mounted furs, I liked it. The deer and elk bedded near porch. The humming birds visited the feeders often. The view is breathtaking. A true rustic cabin feel with modern conveniences. Our family very much enjoyed our stay.

Stayed Jun 30, 2024The property was mostly clean. We found hair that didn’t belong to us and trash under our beds. A couple things were broken or stained. The management let us know one afternoon that the next day there would be a pest control company property so we were encouraged to leave when they would be there. They couldn’t provide a time and didn’t hear me out on my concerns (I was definitely blown off). This property is NOT baby friendly. Steep stairs inside, huge step outside to get in. Bathrooms are all in the first floor. The front sunroom floor is so shaky that things were falling off their shelves when we walked through, even when careful. It was also slanted. This wouldn’t have been as big an issue if we didn’t have small kids with us. The porch has a lovely view, the extras in the kitchen were helpful, towels were clean, beds were clean. Loved the older cabin feel and the location. Maybe wouldn’t have spent so much if I had known the cons, but it wasn’t bad! Definitely cozy and a nice place to land after a day of hiking.

Stayed Jun 11, 2024While the cabin ultimately worked well for our family, I think there are a couple of things that may help future renters. This is our 5th summer in Estes and we’ve stayed in a different VRBO each year. The listing does indicate that the second bedroom is on the upper floor. Please note that the staircase is quite narrow and very steep and that both bathrooms are on the first floor. This could be an issue if anyone in your group is older, has mobility problems, or if young children need to access the bathroom at night. After staying in Joy Cabin, I feel that picture of the second bathroom is a bit misleading. It is quite small. If you have any people of size in your group (whether weight or height) this bathroom would be difficult to use. The doors to the main floor bedroom are double French doors, and lack any covering. This bedroom opens directly to the main living space/TV room, making privacy a challenge. I contacted the management company about box fans. The gentleman that brought the fans out was very pleasant, but it did take additional follow-up the next day before fans were provided. The house does creak (totally normal!) & the box fans served a dual purpose of cooling us off + providing some white noise. The kitchen was well-stocked, and we appreciated that a lot. The washer/dryer worked well, too. Joy Cabin is clearly a beloved family retreat, and the owners seem charming, but it does have its quirks.
