Log Cabin with a spectacular view of the Shenandoah River and the Massanutten Mo

I loved just about everything about this cabin…the coziness and the authentic old cabin ambiance within a quick drive (10 minutes?) of a grocery store in town and Shenandoah a national Park. Cuter than the photos convey (and they are pretty cute). I loved looking at the beautiful log-beamed ceiling upon waking in the morning and the crackling fire after a day of hiking. Mornings drinking coffee in the sun on the stone patio and late afternoons watching the Shenandoah River from the back porch are also highlights. Really, the time flew so quickly…I could have easily stayed another week (or month). Lovely for rainy days or as a base for hiking with dryer weather. All kitchen amenities and thermostat worked fine. We kept the temp cooler on purpose and kept a fire going. Lots of kindling in the area to supplement the delivered logs. The gate/lockbox took a little figuring out the first night but not an issue (bring a flashlight!) Maybe not for those who expect who expect granite countertops, jacuzzi’s and sterile drywall, but perfect for those of us who can love a little cabin that brings the beauty of nature inside. I would come here again and again.

The cabin was well-maintained and comfortable, and the view was beautiful. We spent a peaceful weekend kayaking and fishing.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The view is amazing from the front porch! Will be booking again in the fall and possibly every year from now on!!! And the dog loved it too!

The cabin is fully equipped though we did not take full advantage of it. The porch overlooking the river is a highlight. The only tricky part was finding the lockbox to open padlocked gate when we first arrived. After that all went well. The bed linens provided were of poor quality. Another plus is that there is a path and steps leading all the way down to the river.

Amazing place

Beautiful view could not be beat and the cabin was cozy. Enjoyed playing some of the board games there and the fireplace. Host was quick to respond whenever we messaged.

The view is amazing at this place! Love that it’s dog friendly too. Only thing I will add is the floors were a little dirty but nothing I couldn’t clean up myself.

This was my second Christmas to stay at this amazing and authentic cabin with a beautiful wood burning fireplace. The view from every room is fantastic! Private trail down to the river. Wooded and secluded. Perfectly located close to Shenandoah River State Park, National Forsest, Skyline Drive, AT and Front Royal. Looking forward to my next visit.

This was our second trip and we wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was perfect and the views were so beautiful!

The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The fireplace was lovely and I spent a lot of time just enjoying the down time.I loved how easy everything was. The bed was amazingly comfortable and I had the best sleep. I do wish the outdoor fireplace was closer to the riverview- it would have been spectacular to sit by the outdoor fireplace and look at the river. I loved staying here and will definitely book again.

Perfect getaway with a spectacular view!

This is one of our favorite places to stay. You don’t even have to leave the property to have a good vacation. We look forward to our next trip here.

Nice little cabin with a great view. Spent much of our time out on the front porch just looking at the river and mountains. Missing it already. The town has some great places to eat and you can get anthing you need without having to teavel too far. The gated driveway made us feel very safe. Definitely would consider going back.

I have fond memories of camping in the Shenandoah Valley as a child. Being able to stay in this cabin helped bring back some of those memories. It seemed to be an ideal location for a lot of the sightseeing that I wanted to do. I plan on renting again when I decide to return to Shenandoah.

The views of the Shenandoah River were incredible! Good A/C (especially in 90F) and nicely maintained home. Have to put your own linens on but no big deal. The hike down to the river for fishing can be tricky, and there's not much room to stand down there. We ended up wading in.

Such a beautiful spot and the cabin is exactly what you’d expect! We started every day with coffee on the porch watching the river and the mountains. Hiked all day and then ended our day grilling and watching the sun set over the mountains, again on the porch. Beds were comfortable, shower felt great! We loved it and our granddaughter is already planning on us returning to this special place.

Property was as shown in the listing. Owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Really close to Front Royal for groceries and restaurants, but feels secluded. We weren't able to swim because the river was a bit high, but the steps down to the river are a cool hike with pretty rock formations. There were tons of fireflies in July for our kid to chase, and a big flat grassy area if you like lawn games. The outdoor fireplace was def better than a fire pit in terms of steering the smoke away from us. This place would be nice in the winter too -- cozy with the big fireplace inside (as long as you have AWD for the steep road in).

We loved the cabin and the view of the river! Looking forward to staying there again.

My fiancé and I stayed here two nights for our anniversary and it was amazing! The cabin is adorable and the views are breathtaking even from the bedroom windows. Everything was clean, and anything we needed or didnt bring was already there for us. Property manager is very nice and promptly returned my message when I had a question about the firestick. Great location as well, with town being less than 10 min away. Overall loved this place and will definitely stay here again!

Our stay at the beautifully rustic cabin had all the modern creature comforts. Everything from the parks to the grocery store is conveniently located within a 10-minute drive or less. It was truly a dream getaway to decompress from the fast pace of work life and reconnect with nature and each other. We look forward to coming back soon.

I could have sat on the porch our whole boss and watches the river and the mountain. I heard or saw 56 species of birds. Ther are wonderful fireplaces I side and out. The cabin's interior is clean, modern, and nicely furnished. 2e couldn't have hoped for more!

Very clean with amazing views.

It was very rustic and supplies were plentiful. The cleaner went above and beyond to help me and checked on me after a bad storm. The only hassle was the security gate, but I understand the need to keep unauthorized persons off the property. It was just getting the key out opening and closing and relocking every trip out. It’s all ok. I do suggest that candles are available as the power was out one night for 3 hours and I was alone and not scared but just in darkness except for moonlight. Loved the view! So quiet and peaceful and I was able to really relax. Thanks!

Beautiful view from a very clean and cozy cabin. The only negative point - the website description is not fully accurate - the VRBO website states it sleeps 6 but it only sleeps 4 unless you are a couch sleeper. Loved the leads left for the dogs which made for a secure and relaxing night by the fire. Property owner was very responsive! Great stay :)

The cabin was lovely. Kitchen well equipped. Mountain and river views are amazing. Reasons I'm rating a 4 instead of 5 are lighting was dim, making reading difficult and the cabin was extremely dusty. Dust was visible on the furniture. We had to go purchase allergy medicine due to the dust.

The cabin's location and view are what make this charming log cabin a winner. There are some negatives, but we didn't expect the Ritz nor need it. We wanted an authentic cabin in the woods and we got it. The wood-burning fire place was put to use every day all day and so the stocked wood pile was greatly appreciated.

The cabin was very private and perfect for our need. Outside was 5 degrees and very cold, but inside was nice and comfortable.

Absolutely stunning views in a quaint cabin. Probably best saved for Fall/Spring/Summer but views that cannot be beat.

The property has a wonderful view of the river and mtns. The online information built up the cabin to high expectations. The cabin lacked amenities that were kept current. Coffee maker did not work, plates, silverware did not match, beds not made up, towels not folded like they wanted to make a good impression to name a few items. Information on VRBO posting was different from follow up by owner (inconsistent on pet fees). Many add on fees from listed rental price which increased rental price by 75% (very misleading). Paid for cleaning but expected to clean entire cabin including vacuuming. Or charges would be assessed. Promised to just charge my credit card as they did not have a security deposit. Gives the owner power to charge what they want once you leave. Overpromised and underdelivered for this rental.

The cabin was as advertised. Scenic view and comfortable. The cabin was well stocked and clean when we arrived. The views of the mountains and lake was terrific. We enjoyed our time getting away very much and would definitely want to rent this cabin again!

This was a magical place. So peaceful and beautiful! The inside was warm and comfortable. The host was very good at communicating. The front porch overlooking the river was favorite place to enjoy my morning coffee. We saw deer one morning and lots of birds. The steps down to the river are well maintained but steep. I hope to come back to watch the leaves change colors.

I cannot say enough good things about Cliffside Cabin!! My family and I stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and had an amazing trip. The cabin was clean and just as described in the listing. The views are beyond spectacular and the location is perfect (just a few short minutes from the cutest town!). We enjoyed the fireplace (both inside and outside) during the cold Fall days. I would highly recommend staying here if you love cozy vibes and spectacular views!

We had a wonderful time in this cabin. It is very peaceful and quiet. The view is amazing and we loved watching all the wildlife. Perfect location to front royal and many wineries but staying in and enjoying the beautiful cabin and scenery was our favorite !

I was surprised about how on top of the river you feel while viewing it from the porch. I had great weather for my stay and was able to watch two amazing sunsets over the river and mountains in the background. The location is awesome if you want to feel secluded and to enjoy the outdoors. And the cabin itself feels very welcoming and cozy overall.

Very, very rustic, had to put new linens on the unmade bed, hair dryer wasn’t working, cabin smelled like a campfire, a steep slope getting to the cabin, and killed some weird looking spiders three nights in a row. However the view is amazing. Not very happy about staying there.

My husband and I attended a conference in Front Royal and wanted to make it a nice getaway at the same time. This cabin was exactly what we hoped for. Tucked away, private, with the most beautiful view of the river. We cooked 2 of the 3 nights there and had everything we needed. Fire in the fireplace every night. Just perfect. Every thing was fine, but we thought we could get to the water. We could get down to the water, ' by a very steep decent', but there was no landing area.

Once again…. a wonderful, peaceful time! We brought our dog with us this time and he had a blast! Toured some wineries and just a short drive for some amazing food. Coffee on the porch and outside fires at night are the best. Already booked next year to come back with friends!

We would definately go back. Spent a lot of time on the front porch taking in the view & the sound of the water. The steps down to the river were a bit steep for me but our son had no issues with them, even with water in his waders :-)~ Hubby & him did some fishing each day. The kitchen is pretty well stocked for cooking. Front Royal is a nice little town to visit.

This was exactly what the doctor ordered....a very peaceful scenic piece of heaven, all from the front porch. The cabin and grounds were clean and well kept. A deer sighting made it extra special! Would definitely go back for another visit. Communications from John were clear and precise.

The view is spectacular! Sitting on the porch watching the sunset and two bald eagles flew by, couldn't have been better. Perfect size two bedroom two bath with a nice dining area and kitchen. The kitchen was stocked with a great selection of pots/pans/dishes. Once we got the ac running, the musty smell got better. The sheets could use a refresh, but everything was comfortable. The kids loved the walk down to the river for a swim. Highly recommend as the location to the local caverns and National Parks was perfect!

We had an incredible stay at this cabin! The views of the river and mountains were simply breathtaking - we spent hours soaking in the stunning scenery from the deck. The cabin itself was exactly as pictured, and we were impressed by how clean and comfortable it was. The hosts have done a great job of creating a cozy and inviting space. The checkin process was also completely straightforward and the instructions provided were very clear. One minor note: we didn’t realize toiletries weren’t provided so had to go out and get some supplies. But otherwise, we highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with amazing views.

Great property with privacy and wonderful views. A little thrown off gaurd by a bed not made when you arrive and something about fees for using linens. Ive never arrived somewhere with an unmade bed. How many people sleep on it without making it? The fees about linens make me hesitant to use them. Either way bed not made... Im sleeping in it unmade. Book this for the view and property but make sure you never existed there. We had a good time, but be ready to be your own house made if you want to abide by the rules and avoid extra charges come check out.
