Zoe's Log Cabin

The Space:

Experience a gorgeous piece of Mt. Hood history at this handcrafted Brightwood cabin, a historical woodland retreat constructed by master carpenter Henry Steiner in 1939. You'll enjoy two private decks, an outdoor firepit, beautiful views of the surrounding forest, and a wondrous location on the shores of the Sandy River!

One of 30 similar homes constructed by the Steiner family, this charming cabin sits among firs, pines, and cedars on the banks of the Sandy River. Each summer, you'll enjoy easy access to fishing and kayaking on the river, hiking trails in the Wildwood Recreation Site, half a mile south, and 27 holes of golf at the Mt. Hood Oregon Resort, two miles southeast. Come winter, you'll have your choice of Mt. Hood ski slopes: 13 miles to Skibowl, 14 miles to Summit, and 20 miles to Timberline. And always come home to a clawfoot tub and lovely details like hand-carved stairs and natural wood railings.

Awesome secluded heavily wooded rustic cabin with a nice rocky stream right behind it. Very well appointed and furnished. Hope to return again.

Cute rustic cabin on the creek. You can see the neighbors next door, but was very quiet. Comfy bed and nice gas firepit on the side deck. Easy drive to Mt Hood. One bathroom that is small, but worked for just me and my wife.

Charming cabin right on the river. Had everything we needed. Listing says 1 bedroom but it’s actually 2.

Very rustic and cool cabin. Felt like a movie set right out the 1930s. Beds comfortable. Bathroom and Shower small but fun for the experience. River was great for a cold dip. No road noise, just the sound of the river. Grocery store only 5 min away.

Felt like an old time movie set. Very cool 1930's feel. Go in planning for a fun stay in the old days, except here the beds were comfortable and there was good hot water. Sandy River was just down a short path and was so refreshing after a hot day hiking.

I’m sure this property is great for the right person. For me it was just too rustic. Being close to the river is nice but the cabin is very basic so if you like creature comforts this place won’t be for you. If you are a camper you will love the place. You have to be okay with bugs in the house and the water out of the faucets smelling heavily of rust. For me and my crew it just was too much. We ended up leaving after the first night.

This cabin was exactly as described and the perfect place to relax. The river is about 10-15 steps from the back of the cabin and. you can hear the water the whole time and you can see it from the back of the house. It was relaxing to sit on the back porch and just listen to the water and the leaves rustling. Can't ask for a better place to stay and relax. We brought water with us, but we used the tap water for coffee and bathing and it wasn't bad. I will be back.

This was a repeat visit for us, and we loved it again. The cabin has great ambiance, comfortable furniture, and lots of amenities. The location is fantastic right on the river and close enough to Mt. Hood to drive up for the day. The house and grounds are relaxing and enjoyable for adults and children. The video library is nice. The shopping center nearby has a big enough market and several restaurants and a bakery. We were happy to see that one of our suggestions was implemented. We still think there needs to be more lights. The house can be difficult to find, so be aware. The house is quite rustic, so keep that in mind. And we love the doorman, who is always there waiting for us when we return from an outing.

Loved that it was near the water. Close enough to the town, but far enough that you feel like you’re in the wilderness.

Zoe's Cabin is a lovely getaway in the Mt. Hood National Forest. The cabin has a lovely rustic charm. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen has most everything you need, and vibes overall are very relaxing. The backyard has a hammock and chairs to use to enjoy the view of the Sandy River. The part of the river you have access to maybe isn't the best for swimming as it's very rocky and the current moves by pretty fast. My only real complaint is that the water smells rusty and the shower is definitely outdated and doesn't get very hot. Besides that, it's a lovely place for a weekend getaway.

We spent three days for our anniversary and birthday at this cute little cabin and everything would’ve been perfect except for the water taste like rust and we couldn’t bathe in it because it made you smell like rust and your hair smell like rust and your skin was very itchy afterwards just from washing your hands in the water. This is a very big concern and I am going to reach out and ask for a discount due to the fact that Covid is serious and people need to be able to have clean body parts and brush their teeth safely. Also, there’s a club foot tub and the shower is in there but if you were a remotely elder or can’t lift your leg 2 1/2 feet over the cloud foot tub you can’t bathe. The view was gorgeous. The directions getting there awful and they send you to a dead end street. There’s no address posted on the building so we were like creepers walking up to peoples cabins seeing if we were out the right location. It’s very very confusing we drove in circles for like half hour.. The upstairs is completely dangerous. There’s no light in the hallway. The stairs are very steep and spaced apart. You could easily get your foot caught in between the steps. If you’re not careful I wouldn’t recommend going up and down those stairs by themselves.. another thing that was very disappointing and it’s one of the only things that we go to a cabin for is to enjoy a fireplace. Well, the fireplace was broken and it says bring your own wood so we loaded the car with a bunch of wood.? waste

The location in summer is a dream come true... The house is an historic Steiner Cabin - which is lovely... but very impractical when it comes to creature comforts. (no place to store clothes etc; lighting is terrible - bring a night light; since there is no dishwasher, it would be nice if there was a scrubby pad -instead of counter sponge to wash dishes; and stairs up to cute loft area are treacherous). However the location is divine and makes all inconveniences fade.
