Stanley, Virginia
This warm and cozy log-and-stone style cabin is located high in the Blue Ridge mountains at around 3,000 feet elevation. It is in the same area as the Shenandoah National Forest and this property borders the park land. Come and "get away from it all" in the mountains while not giving up any of your modern comforts! You may not see another human being for a half mile in any direction, but you'll see plenty of deer, bear, and wildlife! Inside the cabin, you'll find spacious living areas, comfortable bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and large HD televisions.
When you look up "remote getaway" in the dictionary, there's a picture of High Ridge! Come to rest, relax, have fun, and take pleasure in nature's finest wonders. Leave business, nagging emails, and your hectic work schedule behind for something quiet, peaceful, and relaxing!
This cabin is located "up Tanner's Ridge" as the locals say. In the pictures, you'll see two pictures showing the beautiful overlooks and mountains that you see as you drive to and from the cabin. You'll want to stop and get your own pictures on the drive.

For the rest of the year, regular 2WD vehicles are fine.
The cabin was even better than expected. It was spotlessly clean and very well stocked. The highest praise, however, goes to management for their excellent communication. I'm so glad they gave us written directions becasue we lost cell coverage before we reached the top and could never have found it without their help.
Came here for a weekend away during peak foliage. Beautiful secluded cabin. Kitchen very modern which was ideal as there isn’t much close by (20min). Hour drive to gorgeous hikes (we did Big Schloss). Hot tub was a great touch. Will definitely be back
WONDERFUL seclusion! The pictures don't do it justice! Well appointed cabin with a nice deck for morning, afternoon, and evening views. Nice view of the night sky for those interested. We're looking forward to our next visit!!!
The last paved road up to the cabin is steep. The gravel road to get to cabin is a lot of fun to drive with 4wd. House is set away in the woods. Coffee, kitchen utensils, filtered water and i e machine (fridge) where stocked and I’m working order. Even had a crockpot. Used the hot tub. Nice way to ease into the morning. Was hoping to see wildlife, but was treated to nice views of the surroundings. In fall watch out for falling acorns.
My husband and I went away to celebrate our birthday. First impression, the grounds surrounding the property is absolutely stunning. The cabin is gorgeous. The newly remodeled kitchen was not only beautifully done, it had everything we needed for the weekend. We had our dog with us so the seclusion was perfect. We didn't see anyone all weekend. The hot tub never really got hot. The colder weather at night was horrible for getting out of a cold hot tub. We were rained in for 2 days and tried to play movies but there was a parental guidance password so the DVDs were out of the question. Gave us a lot of time to unwind inside. Overall it was a beautiful weekend.
The stay was very comfortable and the place was very clean and private. A couple of things that weren’t the best was the lack of any cell service and subpar Wi-Fi speed. We had to reset the router a couple of times during our stay because the internet stopped working. The location isn’t bad but even though it is listed as minutes from Shenandoah NP it really is an hour from either entrance and most hikes within the park. Overall I would recommend it but with some caveats.
This place was exactly what we needed. Very clean, very remote and gorgeous.
Great experience overall. It is worth mentioning that 4WD is a definite must in case of inclement weather. Great stay and would stay at this property again!
Nice overall
We loved the remote setting of this little cabin. It had everything we needed. The hot tub was so welcoming! A large room air conditioner kept shared spaces AND the two bedrooms very comfortable. (There we’re also fans in the bedrooms but they weren’t necessary.) Kitchen was well equipped. The instructions for checking in, and directions to the cabin, were perfect. We didn’t have great weather so weren’t able to explore but we enjoyed it anyway!
This cabin was amazing! I would totally rent this again! The access road is mountainous as expected so 4WD is a must even if just to give you peace of mind. We pulled up and the cabin exterior is charming! Back “yard” area is great, big fire pit, grill, hot tub, wood etc. The hot tub was so relaxing and useful after long hikes in the park! Kitchen had everything we needed, measuring cup, glass baking dishes and sheet pans. Has all the other basics as well as having laundry which was also really useful. I enjoyed the feel and design of the cabin. The bed was really comfy! Everything was very clean and well maintained.
We enjoyed our mid-holiday break at this cozy and comfortable retreat! Appreciated the little details like the holiday decorations, hiking maps, and well-stocked kitchen. The gas fireplace was awesome! Don't be turned away by some of the reviews about the roads to the cabin - it's a fun and winding, but well-maintained gravel road. The cabin is remote and amazingly peaceful.
The location was great - we would definitely go back! We took full advantage of the amazing view, deck with outdoor seating and grill, hot tub, and fire pit. Our dog loved the trip too! The only note would be about bugs; this is to be expected in a mountain cabin, but it was an ongoing issue inside the cabin despite efforts we made to keep doors closed, etc. The drive up is steep but certainly manageable and well worth it!
There's no cell service at the cabin, but the wifi is really good. The hot tub is closer to the cabin than it looked in the pictures and has a nicely paved stone walkway to reach it, though we didn't have a chance to try it. We enjoyed the fireplace, games and puzzle a lot. There's a really nice porch looking out over the valley. We did see a few people mention stink bugs in their reviews and yes, there were a couple that we got rid of, but we've been doing weekends in the Shenandoah for years and they're everywhere. Wisteria is really close and has a lot of different spaces to sit and sip wine. Luray has a lot more than we realized- we had a really good dinner at Moonshadows, drinks at the Valley Cork, and coffee at Gathering Grounds. All very good. We definitely want to return in the spring or fall when we could sit outside on the porch and enjoy the view. I wouldn't suggest it for a motorcycle, though. It's on a mountain and the dirt road is windy and steep.
Had an amazing stay at High Ridge! It’s secluded enough to enjoy some peace and quiet but close enough to Luray to enjoy all that it has to offer like wineries, breweries, the caverns, and access to hiking trails! Amenities were great, the cabin was clean and everything we could have hoped for a weekend getaway!
This was exactly what we were looking for- very quiet, didn't see another person all weekend.
A clean, well maintained property with everything we needed and nothing we didn't. Everything was in working order and our kids loved the feeling of being in the outdoors without really roughing it. It has privacy and a great view. If you want to go for a hike in the Shenandoah and then spend the evening grilling, sit around the fire pit, and then finish it off with a family movie night before bed, this is the place.
