Stayed May 26, 2026We had a fantastic stay at the Fern Hook Cabin. It was so clean, had everything we needed, the bed was super comfortable and my son who opted to sleep on the couch said that was super comfortable as well. Another mattress was provided, but he preferred sleeping on the couch. The ferns, redwoods and other vegetation surrounding the cabin was just so beautiful, lush and full of vibrant green colors. Each cabin is tucked into their own little area that it is very private. We had good communication with the host, he made some really good recommendations on hikes as well as restaurants. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Stayed Feb 13, 2026My husband and I would normally be camping, but we had our infant and this was a great alternative. There are a few cabins nestled in a wooded area right off the highway. Our cabin felt private and there was not a lot of traffic on the highway, so there was minimal noise and practically no light pollution. The cabin was clean and modern, hiking and scenic drives are very close by, and there are food options in either Crescent City or Brookings, OR (about a 20-minute drive either way). There is also a kitchen if you prefer to cook and a functional fridge. Most places we stayed during our trip have terrible refrigerators, so keeping milk and other items cold was a challenge, except for this location. There was no crib or playpen, but James accommodated us with a twin mattress, which worked perfectly. There is also no TV or WiFi, so if you need or want either, bring a tablet or hope that your cell service reaches that area. We have T-Mobile and Metro, and they both worked. Other than no tv (similar to a camping vibe), the stay was great. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway near the Redwoods, this is a fantastic option.

Stayed Jun 19, 2026Absolutely beautiful property with a cute stay. Living room for a toddler is a little tight for him to play much, but we didn’t use the house too much other than to sleep. Haha other than that, the only upgrade that I could see is addition of wifi. It’s been a beautiful stay, but wish I could get on my laptop or even video calls with my parents. Host has been super effective in communication and loved the property!

Stayed Jun 4, 2026Cabin is exactly as described, it's tucked away in the trees and brush making it very secluded feeling. There are dishes, silverware, pots/pans, microwave, toaster, coffee maker for your needs. The cabin was very clean and exactly what I had hoped for.The couch is not a pull out bed, making the listing inaccurate. A small padded bed was placed up against the wall which we put on top of our air mattress for comfort. The listing says it accommodates 4 people, I don't believe that's accurate- should be 3 as one sleeps on the couch. The listing also says information would be given 3 days before check-in, I was having trouble with the VRBO app and reached out to the host to get the information via messaging. No response until the day of, the door code was sent.

Stayed Mar 11, 2026This was a perfect cabin, small, but for the price everything needed. Lightly stocked kitchen (had pans, oil, salt, pepper etc), a stove/oven and microwave. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great. Easy to find.

Stayed Oct 21, 2025Fabulous location if you want to explore the big trees in and around Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. The cabin was immaculate. Quite simple but tasteful decor. Bed was very comfortable, not too firm or soft. Bare minimum in way of cooking/serving utensils, because space is so limited. We travel w/ some kitchen gear so we did prepare a few simple meals. If we could change anything we'd add a corkscrew and a couple wine glasses .We will stay here again!

Stayed Sep 27, 2025The place was as advertised, unfortunately I didn't check my emails earlier in the day & so didn't have the keycode to get in! Bit stressful but eventually sorted. Place was nice inside, clean & functional. Dissapointed there is no wifi, television or welcome pack, unsure how I would have contacted the owner if needed.Okay for a short stay to explore the area, sad to see the stumps of great trees that had been felled there.

Stayed Jul 9, 2025Fantastic it was remote and set in some woods and was about a half an hour away from the actual redwood forest which was fine. Crescent city was nice. We were able to do some eating there and shopping. And we were able to go to Gold Beach. It was a little shocking not to have a TV and Limited Internet. My grandson and I were actually able to talk and interact with each other, which made it perfect.

Stayed Jun 6, 2025Well-designed cabin nestled in the woods, very close to Jedediah Smith Park entrance, making it a great location for easy access to the great park trails. PROS: Great location; well-sited so we were not within view of other cabins; newer, clean, well-designed cabin; (Cab 700 is far enough away from road so that road noise is minimal.) CONS: Host didn’t provide check in info and was a bit slow to respond to our question about how to check-in, and it took a full day to get trash pick up and the extra towels we requested. There is no Wi-Fi and our Verizon cell service wasn’t great (never more than “two bars”). We even had trouble using our phone hot spot to access internet, so we found ourselves driving to other locations to use the internet to plan out our days and make & receive phone calls. But this did give us a chance to unhook and unwind in a very peaceful setting. Overall, we enjoyed a wonderful week in the cabin!
