Ellen's Log Cabin with Hot Tub ~ Located Minutes From The Upper Meramec River

The cabin was cute, spacious and cozy! Plenty of room for us to spread out. The flowers out front were beautiful and the grandson enjoyed the little pond of goldfish. Area was quiet and scenic, close to the river and town. Nice amenities -- fire pit and hot tub (did not get to use the hot tub as it rained on our weekend). One thing that could be improved was the thoroughness of the cleaning. The master bath's vent was clogged with dust, and the ceiling fan over the bed was covered with dust. We also fought black ants in the kitchen. Enjoyed our stay in spite of the rain but thought the level of cleaning needed improvement.

If you want to get away......THIS IS THE SPOT!!!!!!! (but you can still get the internet) Owner Cindy is absolutely wonderful. It was so great I stayed an extra night.

I was looking for calm and out of the way that could accommodate my four legged girls that had some normal comforts of home. Bingo. And after a long day of activities the next morning walking up to a hot tub that feels like your in the trees was icing on top. We'll be back.

Exactly what we needed. Loved the hot tub. The cabin is very peaceful. Didn't hear or see our neighbors at all. Great experience will definitely be back

Host was attentive as needed and amenities were great! It was wonderful that wood was supplied, however, it would have been nice if it was closer to the fire pit. Cabin was very clean and comfy and cozy as well as spacious enough for 6 ladies to enjoy a great time.

This cabin is great! Very clean, roomy, has everything you need for a longer stay. My best friend and I had a friend-cation here for several days. The location is perfect, it's close to several parks and springs.It was great to be out all day then come home, rest my weary bones in that (amazing!) hot tub, cook a quick dinner and curl up onthe couch with a movie (they have a roku). The cabin is close to town, but has the feel of being in the middle of nowhere, its the best of both worlds. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the hosts for having such a great property!

Hot tub was great!

The cabin was very clean and well furnished with modern appliances and bathrooms. Peaceful, private and quiet location. Everything worked flawlessly! The hot tub was clean and very relaxing. Exactly what we wanted. Went to Steelville for dinner about 10 minutes away and had a Jam Burger at Rich's Famous Burgers. Owner is very accessible and attentive as well! Would definitely book again! Loved the cabin it had everything we needed and more. Not a big fan of old movies. Great kitchen and the hot tub was very nice.

Enjoyed our mother daughter get away. We didn't try the hot tub as it was way to hot out : )

The living room fan and beams were full of dust. When you turn on the fan the room became dusty and causing an allergic reaction. The rest of the house was great.Too many steps for old people..I think I left my small jewelry bag in one of the drawers downstairs.

Very clean and spacious! We are a family of 7 plus we brought our pup and had plenty of room! Beautiful wooded area with a hot tub and deck that over looks it!

The cabin was stunning, even looked better than the photos. The hot tub was much larger than the one in the photos and was amazing. We absolutely loved it and plan on coming back annually.

Rented this cabin due to the family being too large to stay at the family house. We were definitely the lucky ones! Got to come back to a/c!! Only have window units at the family house. Very clean, location was perfect, only 8 minutes from the rest of the family.

The home was beautiful. As far as some of the reviews talking about little critters, they are there, but you are also in a wooded area. I very much appreciated the wood that was supplied and the other littlethings. I hope to book another stay oon.

The location of this cabin was amazing. It was clean and tidy. My only complaint was the host only opened one room (the others were locked). It was myself and a friend on a girls weekend. From my understanding, you had to pay an extra fee for other rooms. I asked for 2 rooms but but never heard anything from the host.

Beautiful cabin on the edge of thick woods. Packed with everything you need, this was a wonderful getaway for the wife and I. We went on a nice long ruck, and ended with a good soak.

We needed much time away from the city and this was the perfect spot! The cabin was so quiet and the hot tub was perfect.

This was a perfect and beautiful cabin for a couple of days and peace and quiet. It would also be perfect for a lot linger because this place is huge with three levels, three bathrooms and two bedrooms. I was literally in awe of how amazing this cabin looked when I first walked inside. The kitchen and living room are massive for a cabin like this. I would absolutely stay here again!

Booking a place that has basement (lower level is how it is phrased on the listing) bedrooms was my mistake and I will never do that again. Too many bugs and spiders, living and dead, in those basement bedrooms. Fire wood was supplied but you needed to haul it from the front parking area to the very back by the fire pit, which was not an easy. The kitchen needs a very deep clean. Everything was dirty. Don't open the lazy-susan cabinet, it's filled with dirty dishes and years of crumbs. Their were 3 spatulas to choose from depending on you wanted stuck to them. Choose from egg, possibly cheese and melted plastic spatula. I'm glad I washed the silverware because the spoons left brown marks on the sponge! Also when I cleaned the kitchen table that has a ripped table cloth on it, my Clorox wipe was brown. I don't think any surfaces were wiped down anywhere in the house. The upstairs bathroom had an orange puke splatter on the side of the tub but the basement shower had a rusty drain, so pick your battle. The front porch was nice as long as you kept a close eye on the ladybugs trying to share your coffee. As for the description of overlooking the valley, you have to walk to the road to see any part of the valley. You can not see the valley from the front porch. The hot tub smelled like fish. The inside of the hot tub was slimy. That tub needs to be shocked, scrubbed down, and the water needs to be balanced. ENITRE HOUSE NEEDS A DEEP CLEAN!! Would not recommend this place.

The cabin getaway was just what we needed. Secluded, quiet, and peaceful, but close enough to town for some antiquing! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and large enough for all 6 adults and one dog. We really enjoyed the large front porch and back deck for morning tea and evening drinks. .

Ellen's cabin is a great place to relax. It's clean and comfortable.

Great place to stay to access Mermec Springs State Park in order to trout fish. Was comfortable and cozy.

We stayed three nights in the cabin and had a nice time. The hot tub was great. The only complaint is the lighting. The living room lights were too dim to read by and the kitchen overhead lights did not work making it too dark to cook.

The house was very clean, communication with the host was very prompt! The whole atmosphere here screams peace and relaxation. The hot tub was the icing on the cake! We will definitely book a stay here or at another of her properties again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us!

Nice place for a reasonable price. Lighting is a bit dim and one window does not lock.
