Dog-friendly oceanfront cottage with views

We had a wonderful stay at this simple, cozy oceanfront cottage. The location is beautiful with stunning views and a peaceful deck that quickly became our favorite spot to relax. The cottage itself is comfortable and welcoming, and we’re already planning to return.A couple of things mentioned in past reviews were not an issue for us: there was plenty of firewood available in the shed, and although the tap water is salty, we found a 5-gallon spring water dispenser in the kitchen that was very helpful. A couple of maintenance items were noted (a small leak and a pest issue), which we reported to the property management team after our stay. They have been very responsive, so we suspect these will be addressed for future guests.Overall, this is a lovely, quiet place to unwind, and we look forward to coming back!

A tranquil sanctuary on the sea

Property was as advertised: basic cabin with killer location. My wife called it “Glamping”. It could use more light, especially in the bathroom. If I wasn’t 6’1” I would not have been able to fix the windows open. A small step ladder would be helpful. Long term a propane woodstove would es downbe very helpful as even in July it was in the 50’s and house cools down as soon as the sun goes down. There is only one mirror in the cabin. It is in the bathroom and is way too high for normal woman’s height. Otherwise, beds were very comfortable and fireplace was very helpful.

The cabin, beach, ocean view, minke whales, eider ducks, harbor seals, eagles, ospreys, loons, song birds, sunsets, sea glass, heart shaped rocks and lobster dinner by a crackling fire, listening to rain on the roof and the surf off the bow of the front porch struggled to help us find peace and tranquility. We named the beach Glass Heart Beach, because our hearts were broken from the beautiful world surrounding us (just as advertised) that we were unable to enjoy once the two excavators, less than 50 feet from the cabin, started dropping, scraping and smashing boulders hours on end for the entire day everyday, Monday through Friday for our entire 2 week vacation. We came here for peace and quiet to hear nothing but the ocean waves lapping on the shore, identifying birds by their songs and breathing in the fresh salt air, to relax and unwind from a very stressful winter, fighting to protect the very environments like Kenma we chose and came to enjoy. Unfortunately, this was not to be. We would love to be granted a second chance to enjoy this magnificent property again someday but only with the guarantee there would be no relentless heavy construction less than 50 feet away from where we ate, slept and carried on private conversations.

Look no further if you are looking for a peaceful ocean side rustic retreat! Quintessential Maine! Quiet walks on the rocky beach, spectacular sunsets over the bay! Already planning for next year.

You are paying for the million dollar view and if you are a Wyeth fan you are 2 doors down from NC Wyeth property he bought in the 1920's Do not drink water nor give to your dog as it has salt in it. It is basic cabin in the woods plain and simple off grifthwoods

I loved the cottage -- very simple, relaxing, in a remote waterfront location. To me: a cottage. To my partner: a shack...but very nice shack. The fireplace threw out enough heat to keep us cozy in the mornings and evenings (late Sept visit). When it was time to leave, our dog stretched out on the grass, his expressive eyes saying Are you guys serious? Why are we leaving? On the not so great: the tap water was too salty for drinking/not potable. We were not prepared for this; however, the management promptly delivered 5-gallon jugs. We brought our own firewood to keep us going for a few days...then hunted down expensive little bundles.

The cottage has a wonderful vintage vibe) We enjoyed our stay using the Porch allot with the Seaside View and used the fireplace at night. This stay is nothing but relaxing, curl up with a good book) Use binoculars for watching the Fisherman and viewing sailboats. The local people are so friendly. There are lots of art galleries to poke around in) And the Port Clyde General Store has good prices for Lobsters. We were there a few times. This will be a do over vacation!

Everything about this cottage helped us to relax. The view was a amazing and we spent plenty of time just sitting on the comfortable chairs on the porch reading, watching the water and wildlife. The decor is charmingly spare. We enjoyed a fire several nights as the weather was still cool in June. We found the bed to be very comfortable and slept so well in the peace and quiet. The bathroom is simple but adequate. We had an issue with the sink and communication was prompt. The walk to town is easy so this is a place that you could just park your car and not have to drive anywhere for days.
